  1. Very sad to see Nikita go. Don't let the "locker room issues" fool you, the kid is special. Hopefully he can still grow into a top pairing defenseman, but if he doesn't it's no longer a disaster for us. Rest well in Colorado, sweet prince.
  2. Oh my glob. We got O'Reilly. A real top 6 ladies and gentlemen, a real top 6! Remember when Moulson - Zemgus - Ennis was the line facing the other team's top defensive pairing (and they STILL created offense at a consistent pace?)? Now we have Eichel, O'Reilly, and Kane to take the heat. Every rostered forward's job just became realistic. Our new forward corp is cup-winning quality. It might take 4 years for them to grow and get there, but all the pieces are already in place. Our young centerpieces, Eichel and Reinhart, will both grow into their defensive games at the NHL level. O'Reilly is already a top 15 defensive forward in the league and does anybody doubt that Zemgus will be part of that top 15 sooner rather than later? Offensive Dynamos Ennis and Kane now have the talent around them to feed them the puck and the defensive acumen around them to let them focus on their strengths. Moulson can go back to finding the soft spots in the offensive zone. Larsson, Foligno, and Deslauriers (to a lesser extent Legwand and McGinn) are incredibly solid players to shore up the bottom 6. We have the grit, talent, defense, and speed in our forward ranks. Now all we need is to balance the wings a bit. I love Tim Murray. I can't believe I'm realistically viewing the playoffs as a possibility in 2016!
  3. Why did the Kings do that?
  4. I said something similar upthread. I'm sure it has something to do with it.
  5. Like we don't need O'Reilly because we have Zemgus.
  6. Craaaaaazy bad. Love it :P
  7. What a terrible trade for the Bruins. I would've traded 21, 31, and Foligno for Hamilton all day every day.
  8. Dang. Cool stuff.
  9. This is almost, almost, funnier than Rob's breakdown over giving up the 21st pick.
  10. :D We can't have nice things until we cleanse our systems of the years and years of bad things.
  11. Blue's post brings me to another gripe! Better hardware in consoles means that publishers will want games with better graphics. For how good graphics already are, trying to make them better makes the games exponentially harder to develop. Every 3D model has to be that much more detailed, code will be more convoluted. I know good graphics are important to a lot of people, but in the games industry way too much focus is on technical graphics, and very little is on the actual visual style of the games. Wind Waker came out in 2002, and I think it looks better than most new games that come out today. I wish there was a world where developers could make more better games on 2007 game engines. Unfortunately the need for "graphics" trumps the need of a good art style. Example: I love the open world fallout games. (Fallout 3 and New Vegas) But their photo-realistic art style looks horrible, and frequently takes me out of the game when I'm tryna roleplay (I can't not think of IKP's post about shrader in the lies thread). Basically I think the Games industry needs to hire more art style leads. And more story writers/editors.
  12. Why are you still touting Darcy's final days positively? He could've rebuilt this team without going through several years of sucking, but he didn't. He sat on his hands and hoped the old rotten core would grow together and finally have success in the playoffs. Darcy's "plan" wasn't to tank. Darcy tanked after all other plans failed. GMTM made a trade. Talk about that. Not Darcy.
  13. I don't believe the problem is a societal lowering of standards. I believe the problem has to do with games, which are an artistic work, being treated by their developers as moneymaking assets and nothing more. Companies like Valve that don't outsource their work to huge coding and 3D art farms (and don't rush their games, and artistic decisions aren't influenced by a huge corporation) tend to produce the kind of games that I'm interested in. Devs long for the yearly franchises like CoD and Madden instead of developing intriguing original works. The attempt to bill the Xbone and the PS4 as one stop entertainment computers instead of ensuring their ability to play the most games possible is another manifestation of the ugly way this artistic medium is mired in the muck. (I said developer a lot when I probably should've been saying publisher. Valve is a special case because they are their own publishers, hence the great games and the... Hey has Valve released a game in the past 4 years or so?) More on point: This PC port mess up is almost definitely a result of a publisher giving a developer hard deadlines, and not understanding the extra amount of work it would take to port the game.
  14. His plan... Yeesh  The bolded is great Regier fanfic.
  15. Murray moved every single GT on the roster and traded for an injured Kane to complete the Eichel tank. Methinks if Darcy were at the helm we'd be trying to figure out how we're going to build a contender with Strome and Reinhart as our top two centers. It's honestly bizarre to me that anybody is still talking about Darcy. Let alone in a positive light.
  16. Darcy certainly tore the team down. Yaaaaaay  I personally like the moves GMTM has made toward developing our roster. Kane, Lehner, and Bogosian all seem like good pieces moving forward to me. Deslauriers and Fasching seem promising so far.
  17. So now you're giving Darcy credit because he finally tanked two years too late after he let MacKinnon slip through his fingers? Your misery is a strange and powerful force.
  18. Yep. And other than the few moves we've seen from GMTM, that's about all we have to go on. We'll know if he can build a team eventually.
  19. THIS IS WHY NEW CONSOLES DIDN'T NEED TO HAPPEN. Developers don't know how to write games efficiently for the new machines yet, so they sink all their resources into figuring it out and things that should be simple like a working PC port are difficult. (not that bad PC ports weren't a problem when the 360 and PS3 were the consoles) ----- Ok. I'm okay, and the consoles did need to get updated. New hardware, yadda yadda. I JUST HATE THE WAY VIDEO GAME COMPANIES DO EVERYTHING AHHHHHHHH WHY ISN'T THERE BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY!!! IT'S ABOUT THE GAMES YOU DORKBAGS! THE GAMES!!! NOBODY GIVES A WHAT THEY PLAY IT ONNNNNNN ---- I'm ok, really.
  20. I'm disappointed that the first round is now a lot more boring for us. Like X, I wanted to move back into the 10-16 slot.
  21. The value seems high to me, but my idea of the goalie market is almost entirely based on things I've read here... TM and BM worked together for years, and they obviously both believe in Lehner (and they both know the other believes in him). It's human nature not to play poker and try to weasel (TM) your way to a better deal when the other GM is your beloved uncle. GMTM thought it was fair, and he pulled the trigger. The first "Darcy would never do this" trade that a lot of people seem to hate. Lehner was my pick of the goalies available. I like Talbot, too, but Lehner's contract situation is ideal. The concussion? Not so. EDIT: Actually Martin Jones was probably my pick of the goalies available. I think I read something on here recently that he's definitely available or getting shopped or somesuch.
  22. As much as it pains me to trade the guy right when he's entering his prime, I think Ennis and McCabe for ROR would be fair value. (If Colorado is okay with getting a top 6 forward back instead of a D-man).
  23. You know what's really fun to think about? C - Jack Eichel A - Underboss Zemgus Girgensons A - Steely eyed Rasmus Ristolainen
  24. Hate tinged banter is practically my love language.
