  1. Never fear, Hot Daniel is here! Nobody can deny his great track record, let's see what he can do. Welcome to Buffalo, Disco Dan.
  2. Can you explain what he did with his offensive innovations? Most of what I've learned about hockey tactics in that past couple years came from your breakdowns, so I'm always chomping at the bit for more.
  3. I would very much like Staal. Then we could run a 4th line of Grigorenko - Hodgson - Foligno to feast on other teams' bottom 6.
  4. Neal is a good value pickup. Marchand is too, we just don't like his kind here.
  5. Welcome JW! I totally forgot about the Women's World Cup coming up. I'm super excited. I hope Canada has another good showing so we can get a USA-Canada soccer rivalry going. Their match in the 2012 Olympics was a good start.
  6. Any assistant coaching position where he can't instate the trap is okay with me.
  7. I love Shaw, he's such a bastard. My favorite players are always the ones I would never ever ever want to play against. I picked the Ducks to win the cup last year, and was mad at them when they fizzled out. This year, I remembered that and picked the Hawks. That said, I give the Ducks a 53% chance of winning game 7.
  8. Hot Daniel definitely wouldn't be my choice, but I'll take him over Guy Boucher every day of the week.
  9. Hahaha Hoss why don't you just try to pick Kane and Kane?
  10. Not letting it go is different than bringing it up as often as you can on a message board.
  11. That's the most badass smoker I've ever seen. Wow.
  12. Good call on being a set up season. Heck, AFFC and ADWD are both mostly setup for stuff that's going to happen in books 6 and 7 (also possibly 8, if trends continue). 6 is called The Winds of Winter 7 is called A Dream of Spring 7 was originally titled A Time for Wolves which most people like better. I think I like dream of spring better.
  13. Good stuff Yuri. That's the first post about Nolan since he got fired that I enjoyed reading.
  14. Finally finished the game from last night. The Ducks' forcheck is a thing of beauty. The Hawks could barely gain the neutral zone at times.
  15. Elias Lindholm and Johnny Boychuk
  16. Yeah, I probably just spelled it "shittenpoop" by accident.
  17. huh, couldn't find him when I searched. In that case, I'll take Iginla
  18. Average fan =/= average message board poster. And nobody here claimed they were doing a detailed analysis on Bylsma's system. Blue mentioned zone entries, that's it. As to whether or not fans can understand a coach's system, I'd think that most Pens fans understood Bylsma's system after 5 years, even if they couldn't break it down with words like X.Benedict can.
  19. Patty, do you really think that message boards aren't a place to learn about a coach? Those fans watched Bylsma 100X more than we ever did. Obviously, you have to sift through the usual internet sewage to get to the good stuff, but when an overwhelming amount of fans dislike the guy it is cause for concern.
  20. Good stuff, guys. I've only seen a few games from the Perrault era, so it's really fun to hear the stories.
  21. Oh my god yes. Every time I think about his voice it's automatically him saying Thomasss Vaaaanek.
  22. It felt great to watch a summer action film that didn't weigh itself down with dialogue and done-to-death inner-turmoil in the characters. This movie followed the golden rule of storytelling: Show, don't tell. None of the characters were fleshed out and the plot never consisted of any goal more complicated than going from point A to point B. These issues would definitely hurt the movie on a second viewing (or the first if you didn't turn your brain off, it's that kind of film), but it felt pretty perfect to me for what it was. (very light spoilers for Mad Max) The score was really hit and miss. Half of the tracks captured the desert wasteland feel perfectly, and the other half was just boring stock orchestral score.
  23. The books make you wait for a very long time to see the sympathetic characters strike back at the antagonists as well. The key difference is that before the comeuppance is served, both sides of the conflict are shown and by the time "good" is triumphing over "evil" it has shifted to "this gray character that I liked killed another gray character that I sorta liked..." --------------------- At least another regular female cast member got threatened with rape again! Good thing she didn't get raped! What a fantastic show.
  24. I liked winter soldier (the sequel) better. Saw Mad Max. What a beautiful, violent, simple movie. Awesome.
