This is the second mention I've seen of Bylsma being a great teacher (the other being from Aud, I think). I'm starting to worry less about Bylsma's in game tactics, because a great teacher that demands a good work ethic should be an ideal fit (props to Ghost) for this young squad. If he's not the coach to put us over the top, we can always look elsewhere in ~3 years when we're looking to contend yearly. I'm from WNY and love it here, but I can totally understand why somebody would rather live in Toronto. It's a great city.

I think Pysyk is already a better NHL defenseman than Gorges. Obviously we only got a few games to get a look at him this year, but he played quite well. Gorges, on the other hand, barely has anything left in the tank at this point.

I'd be less worried about Babcock because he kept a pretty decent Detroit squad at a high-ish level at the end of his Detroit tenure, but you're absolutely right that it'll be a challenge for whomever gets hired.

If we hire Hot Disco Daniel, it will be his first time coaching a team that's building from scratch (at least we have a great foundation laid down). His first job, he inherited a SCF losing team. Now, he could possibly take over the team that finished DFL 2 years running. It would certainly give us the chance to see what he's made of.

Except there are well run teams like the Hawks that use analytics and still create many scoring chances. The problem is that the way the rules are enforced means that teams can Rangers their way to victory. I think your point paints a vivid picture of why scoring is so far down from where it was in the 80s. Entire teams know how to play defense, and do.

I'm seeing Avengers 2 and Mad Max in theaters. I'm also planning on watching Saving Private Ryan (for the first time). I'm also gonna sneak in the back half of Better Call Saul if I can this weekend. What a fantastic show.

It was my response to the "Sabres brass is livid" stuff from yesterday, and it was before I ready what Murray said. I believe that some people (Pegula, maybe Battista) may have been "livid," but I never thought that about GMTM. Mostly, it was just a joke. Even if Murray was pissed, I don't think it'd bother me much.

When I envisioned somebody being whiny, it was never Tim Murray. He doesn't strike me as the type to lose his cool when the chips fall where they may.

If we got babcock-blocked by his wife then so be it, thems the breaks. It appears as if he may have put himself in a much worse position hockey-wise for the sake of his family. I still think the big stage of Toronto had something to do with it.
