I've had a miserable few days from Saturday night to yesterday. I'm so worried about my mom. She works so damn hard all the time and whenever she's not working she has to be at home to help with gramma. She's been at her current job for 16 years and tries way way way way way too hard when the bosses clearly don't give a damn about any of their employees. She goes to low income homes that have kids with developmental disorders and makes sure they're in a stable environment and helps the family out in any way she can. Most of her clients are very young mothers. She cares so much about helping these people and bends over backwards to do her best. Sometimes she has to call CPS, but that's just part of the job. Anyways, by the time she gets home she's exhausted and it's really frustrating to do gramma stuff with her. Taking gramma to the bathroom/getting her ready for bed is an unchanging routine, yet my poor tired mother can never focus on which step is next or what she should be doing. She has really bad ADHD and I think it might really help her keep her brain unscrambled if she tried some meds. I don't know. Every time I try to bring it up she deflects with humor. My sister and I are going to have a sit down talk with her soon. Either way, she needs to quit her job. EDIT: To be clear, I'm not saying my mom shouldn't work. She could make wayyyyy more than she does right now working from home as a writer (pamphlets, concert programs, that kinda freelance work). She could also find employment at Cornell if she wanted. My brother works in their finance department (or something) and he makes it sound like there are hundreds of high paying jobs available. My mom, with her tireless work ethic, years of experience as an editor (specifically edited college textbooks), and degree from UPenn would have no problem landing on her feet somewhere. She accepts that life is going to be hard and but sometimes I think she lets it be harder than it has to and it really sucks to see. My girlfriend and I are fighting about the dumbest stuff right now. She's never had to do long distance in a relationship before, and it's starting to show. She's been doing some really unfair fighting while I've just been trying to express how miserable I am right now. She's accusing me of being self centered when I think that she's acting like a self-centered jerk. And at the heart of this is the fact that we both really really really want to see one another. It's concerning, and draining. My podcasting partner is bordering on useless. He's late to our sessions, promises we'll have a room to record in when we don't, and falls asleep halfway into our recordings. I'm going to try having my brother be co-host instead. He actually seems to love game of thrones so it should make for a more interesting dynamic anyways.

Installing it now, upon learning that there's an open beta. I loved TF2, so I'm willing to give a blizzard TF2 knockoff a try. Buying a console? Noooooooooooo. Build a PC!!

But Jon Snow didn't come back right away, he's likely a warg, and was probably in ghost. Melly Dre lost her faith in R'hollor and Davos said " the gods, just do it." There's a lot of wiggle room there. Maybe last season when he was at Daznak's pit telling Hizdar that there's already too much violence in the world. All we've got this season are jokes and "look at how cool he is!" scenes. One thing that really bothered me about the Meereen scenes was that Tyrion asked Missandei if the dragons liked her. I was assuming this was because he was enlisting Missandei's help, but no, the writers got that silly woman out of the frame so manly Tyrion can do stuff. Apparently he was just asking Missandei to find out if Dany's dragons can differentiate between friend and stranger, which seems like something he should probably know considering the goldmine of dragon knowledge he displayed. So upon finding out that yes, the dragons can differentiate and Missandei is indeed a dragonfriend, Tyrion decides that going to meet the dragons alone without her around was the best possible course of action. Maybe Tyrion didn't want her to get hurt? That'd be even worse. Missandei is brave, and would want to help. She's not some shrieking violet to be protected by Tyrion (like she already was at Daznak's pit). I do like that Tyrion's entire plan is "Have you considered talking to the dragons?"

I like to think that Beric Dondarrion was brought back by R'hollor, but Jon Snow's resurrection is more of an Old Gods type deal. Maybe Jon's soul will have merged with Ghost's a bit in the time that he was dead. Maybe he'll be less reserved and more violent/aggressive. Tyrion's trial and then slaying his father and lover ended up having no effect on his character whatsoever, he's walking around like season 2 Tyrion. It would be an awful shame if they don't use Jon's death to develop his character. At least it's helped Melly Dre's arc.

Eh, I've just never been enamored with him as a player and idgaf that he's a career Blue. I like the Blues, but his status as their beloved captain means nothing to me. Not to say that you're wrong, maybe Saint Louis loves the hell out of the guy.

Dude. Let it go. You were getting on Millbank for posting an innocuous fact about Marner winning some award.- 456 replies

I just see so many David Backes passes turning into turnovers. The Blues have a great forward depth and Backes is about to turn 33 later this month. With the way he plays I have to assume his body will give out any year now. He's the kind of expiring contract good teams let go.

I'm with you iT. I've kinda been feeling like that since Saturday.

He's got the size, the hockey iq, the physicality, the temperment, the shot, and he's a decent to pretty good skater. I think he could be more agressive at times (in all zones) and dictate play with the puck. He's got silky mitts and he so rarely takes it in himself. His methodical nature is a blessing and a curse. If he can learn to be aggressive at the right times, watch out. Like Randall said, that has a lot to do with who his partner is.

Ah, didn't see the date on the chart. Now it makes a lot more sense.

It's insane to think that Jack still got 56 points this year. Kid is special. Dork! Nerd!
-
I can't for the life of me believe that Kane does better AWAY from Jack. Like Blue said the other day, those two are water and oil.
-
I think it's fair, considering the rules. You can call the rules dumb and say that Panarin shouldn't be eligible and I wouldn't fight you.
-
I think Girgensons would be a great fit on their roster. Girgensons + 8. is that fair?
-
No, just that the conclusions you drew from the stats made it sound like you don't have hundreds of hours of eye-test mind-tape to give them context. And I mean, come on, you were saying bad things about my Jack.
-
In the first place, McGinn didn't play with Eichel enough for there to be a big enough sample size and I don't know why you're arguing Moulson at all. No matter what he's a detriment to the Sabres when he's on the ice. It doesn't matter what any specific stats say about him, I know this to be horribly, painfully true. We know how bad our team was and how much Eichel shined in spite of that. (Also in spite of Hot Daniel trying to kill him with ice time for the first month and a half or so. I almost forgot about that.) Honestly, that line doesn't sound that terrible, assuming Taro and Dudacek are right about Kane's hockey sense and Ennis returns to 20 goal form. With Larsson shutting down the other team's top lines, and Eichel drawing the shutdown personnel, Samson could feast on those sheltered minutes. Too bad we played him with Jack at the end of this season instead of letting him learn the center position at the NHL level in a season that doesn't matter.
-
Why not both?
-
What about Kuznetsov, is he great away from the puck? Or merely okay? What about Tyler Seguin? McGinn also got to play with O'Reilly a lot, and Moulson got to play against chumps on the 4th line when he wasn't anchored to Jack.
-
Or, like Blue said, when Kane and Samson weren't with Jack they were with O'Reilly, so the WOWY stats don't tell the whole story there. Also, ain't nobody elevating Matt Moulson's play anymore.
-
Even if Jack's game away from the puck didn't improve at all he could still have O'Reilly and Girgensons as his wingers and be considered a top 10 player in the league (mostly because he doesn't play in the western conference). Elite offensive centers often aren't relied on to do it all. That said, we know Jack's backcheck game is strong, if he can indeed make marked improvement in the other away-from-the-puck skills then he really will be a top 10 player in the league, and not just considered that. I don't think it's a stretch to expect that of Jack at all.

I think the part that got me was "if he doesn't start moving his feet he'll be an average player." I don't see how anybody can say that. Jack had some inconsistency this year, but he also consistently improved in almost every way as the year went on. He engaged more, skated harder, and tried to put the team on his back dog. Next year he won't be a 19 year old rookie playing the longest schedule of his life against the best competition of his life. It'll merely be another year in the NHL for young Jack Eichel. Don't you dare say anything bad about my Jack.
