  1. Crazy...Pittsburg gets Washington while NY Rangers get Ottawa...didn't both Pittsburg and Washington have more points then the Rangers yet the Rangers get rewarded by getting Ottawa? Strange friiggin' setup...one of the two top teams go for sure while two teams that had less points one is ensured of going through
  2. need to do something soon...big dates coming up (draft lottery, then the draft and free agency) and we were supposedly close to signing Antipin and we need someone running the ship...
  3. kinda late to the party...we missed out on Gallant and Hitchcock both good coaches...I guess Lindy is still kicking around LOL looks more then ever like Lombardi and hopefully not Sutter
  4. hard to think the Oil could win with McDavid getting just a goal and 2 assist (he added that empty netter late)...I somehow figured he'd have to score a bunch and lead the team to victory. The trade everybody hated (Larrson) is proof you gotta have that stud D...what a difference meanwhile, Montreal proves a great goalie isn't enough...big slow forwards isn't the key either...they need Duschene bad and if they have any brains they'd try to make that happen before Colorado come to their senses and realize they shouldn't trade the guy (if they still will) Minnesota a veteran team proves you gotta have young guys in here...Jason was awfully quiet in the series...
  5. This is vitally important news moving forward...Kyle is a good person and a very good hockey player and we need him in the lineup. Strange that the team has not said virtually anything about his condition. Makes you wonder if there isn;t something wrong here that they ain't telling us...
  6. that is a vital issue here...we have these guys in their prime and then we have aging vets putting in time and then trying to bring in young guys too...no wonder it didn;t work last year. I think the way the leafs did it with young guys and their prime guys like Kardi, JVR, Bozak and gardiner is the way to go...none of the aging vets please...do whjatever it takes to clear Moulson, Gorges, Bogo and Gionta from the payroll
  7. sorry that was another name I meant to include and am sure FMGMTM would have considered...
  8. can't help but wonder if maybe we could have kept GMTM who I thought was doing okay and just add a President who would oversee everything and bring some of that needed structure and communication throughout the chain of command. On the other hand, I do think Blysma had to go but finding a new coach is not such a big deal as it is now finding a new GM right before very important dates coming up. To think if we'd just have got babs things would be soooo different
  9. I agree the Leafs are far faster because they play a bunch of young speedsters...we have good young fast players too, but it appears they are being held back for whatever reason. if the leafs had Bailey, Baptsite, Fasching, nelson etc they'd be playing them for sure. They are good young fast players that babs would love. we are slow becuase our vets are slow, not our young players. they are not being used and when they do come up to the big club, they would get a game or two then be sent back down. Rochester apparently also preached the same outdated system that was used so successfully (haha) with the big club and yes, the Leafs defense isn;t very good and it's funny becuase I live north of Toronto and all I heard for years was how the fans hated Kadri, JVR, especially gardiner among others who are now thriving under Babs and are loved again by the fans. coaching and system sure have made a ton of difference for that team
  10. is Scotty not still part of the Chicago thing? he would be the ultimate addition but can't see it happening
  11. thinking the tank appears to be a miss because the leafs have surpassed us by a mile (even their farm team is better now), but the truth is we did not have much of anything before th e"tank" and now we have a lot of good young players that are being wasted in our crappy system that was used at both levels (NHL and AHL). It is vital we get a new coach that has babs outlook, which is play young guys and let them learn as they go. The way we used Bailey, Baptaiste Nelson (who I feel bad for cause I thought we promised him lots of ice time and instead he gets buried in Rochester) among others was terrible. we have good young players that need to play and not be punished every time they make a minor mistake. I would rather see a young guy playing and learning instead of our aging vets who are never going to be part of any sucessful Sabre team in the future
  12. yeah, no Lindy please...I do think that looking back at the past season the biggest negative (and there were many) was the fact that not only did we not improve, but we did no develop one young player never mind a bunch of them. The leafs have a bunch of young guys learning as they go, while we played aging vets over our young guys. Rochester was a bust too, so that is a double fail. The tank was suppose to net us a bunch of young players and while we certainly have added some good young prospects, we continue to hold them back. The way we treated players like Bailey was pretty sad, bringing him up, playing him a few games til he began to get a little comfortable, then back he goes and up comes someone else. I 'd much rather play young guys then aging vets like we did, and am afraid Lindy loves the older players and that trend would continue under him...
  13. sorry yeah I forgot GMTM is picking him and of course it's Gionta again yippee
  14. I think it is safe to say that hopefully we will see the younger guys getting a chance moving forward (Bailey, Fasching, Baptiste, Casey nelson and Brady Ausitn who went to the same high school as my kids among others) and maybe find a way to lose aging vets that don't really add much like Moulson, Bogo, Gorges and Gionta. So, who is the next Captain??? Probable between jack and Ryan O although I have heard other people mention other players. Is it time for Jack or is he too young? Would it help or hurt his development? OReilly is what he is and I think it is safe to say the "C" would not change him nor hurt him as a player...
  15. there should be some d available hopefully but as for McNabb please...he ain't that great;might as well bring back TJ Brennan I think he's still kicking around
  16. yeah Vancouver is a complete train wreck...hell Murray was doing a better job then they've done and are doing there now...
  17. don't even joke about Keenan...Lombardi is going to be the man...either president and/or GM
  18. you obviously need to feed the poor thing more...
  19. Yeah it was a strange "rebuild" when aging vets like Moulson, Gionta, and Gorges were getting ice time ahead of young guys that are suppose to be our future...we took a big step BACK this past season (both the Sabres and Rochester) and that was unacceptable. TP hired who were thought to be the best available at the time and it didn't work. I give him credit...instead of going on with the status quo he is doing whatever it takes to (hopefully) turn this ship around and finally give the fans a winner...
  20. you may be right but then again I do think they hired the best available at the time and missed out on the big fish (Babcock). Maybe it was because of GMTM's attitude or outlook that babs did not come here. either way, I think after losing out on the babs sweepstakes he had to do something and Blysma was the best available at that time. I thought it was a good hiring and many others did to at the time...there was no way of knowing he'd preach a old and tired system that hasn;t worked in the NHL for at least 5 or 6 years
  21. Crazy stuff...NHL Linesman Don Henderson, who got smoked from behind by Dennis Wideman a while back, is suing the player for 10 million dollars! The team, Calgary Flames, are also named in the suit. Of course there was the issue of whether Wideman did it on purpose at the time and that remains a hotly debated subject (sure looked like he did it on purpose). Henderson has not been in a game since and his career is in jeopardy. Rumors are that the NHL thought he had become a liability and his work was failing and open to debate as to whether he was doing a job worthy of the NHL. This should get real ugly I would think. Very interesting indeed...
  22. I do think terry had his mind made up a while ago...this did not just happen without a lot of thought and it is safe to assume he has someone in mind or yes, maybe he has already reached out to this person and knows he has him hired before firing GMTM and Blysma. A good business person would not leave the team without anybody to run the ship when very important dates are upcoming like the draft and free agency etc...
  23. The tank got us some good young talent that was greatly needed...remember, we were going nowhere and needed someone like Jack to build around. The thing I really don;t get in the rebuild is why we have these older guys that don;t really fit in like Gorges, Moulson, Gionta etc. I would have preferred to go with young guys and give them a chance and learn as they go as the Leafs have done. If one looks at the leafs, they have either young guys or guys on their mid-20's like Oreilly, Okoposo, and kane which is perfect. But the leafs play and played a lot of young guys instead of going with aging vets like we did. I think we really hurt guys like Bailey who were brought up for a game or two then sent back down and someone else was brought up. The leafs would have been using all these good young players and letting them learn on the job. I also happen to think that Pegula looked at this and thought what happened this past season wasn't good enough. We got worse not better, and the farm team was sucking too...if things progressed this way, next year would be even worse again. I guess the leafs and Oilers have kind of set the bar now...a team needs a committed and hockey-minded President, then a GM then a coach who are all on he same page and work towards that common goal of success. Wonder if Lombardi would make a good President?
  24. I agree 100% and I do think this team is not that far away...they certainly proved when they are on they can play with anybody...the whole league is so close now that who knows from day to day as we are seeing right now in the playoffs
