  1. I hope so too. And happy for his family and his friends, his teammates, and himself as well. I bet he's also happy with Kevyn Adams who traded him to Florida giving him an opportunity to be part of a team that ultimately won the Stanley Cup fulfilling one of his lifelong dreams. So, now he's even happy for the GM of the Sabres. All this happiness.
  2. The problem a lot of people have with any MVP selection is that it's not about the final game or final series but the work as a whole over the period of time. While Bobrovsky was exceptional at times he was also pulled from a game after letting in 5. He wasn't his team's MVP on that night. McDavid didn't get it done in Game 7. Just because that was the deciding game should not necessarily detract from his overall performance. Ultimately, in looking at the games each of those players played from Game 1 of the First Round through Game 7 of the last round, the PWHA voted McDavid. He did break a Finals record for assists. At one point I think I saw a stat somewhere around Game 5 that he had 10 points in the OIlers last 15 goals. That's a pretty impressive stat. Now, I don't love that McDavid was selected, but when I look at Bobrovsky I think his terrible performances in Games 4,5,6 are what took him down a notch. There was no one else on Florida who was more deserving. There's certainly no one on Edmonton more deserving. It makes for good debate and good debate keeps the NHL relevant.
  3. Cheers to Okposo. Can't not be happy for him. The only story line on this I care about.
  4. Either way, this is a hell of a game.
  5. Cousins. They were kind of rotating between Lomberg, Cousins, and Okposo.. and I see Lomberg in there. Yep. Barring a last minute change.
  6. Well, capfriendly does not post tax returns of players. They post salaries. but what's odd is.. there is such a site for people like Terry Pegula - https://www.forbes.com/profile/terrence-pegula/ And ultimately, why does it matter to anyone what someone else chooses to do with their time? Even if you don't understand it, do you need to? (This is not directed at your @PASabreFan but to all who are questioning each other about other's preferences).
  7. https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=98580200,+98580199,+98580198,+98580197,+98580195,+98580194,+98580191,+98580190 &caseType=SERIAL_NO&searchType=multiStatus https://www.mekiplaw.com/how-long-does-it-take-to-get-a-trademark-all-you-need-to-know/ It's just not an overnight process. The Kraken took about 18 months to get their name in place. The PWHL has no names yet because of the same length of time. The entire research process takes quite some time and the more names being evaluated the longer it takes. Vegas took awhile and had to deal with a contention against using the term Knights and had to go Golden. There are a lot of people who get paid a lot of money to work through this process. Determining all kinds of factors and THEN they kick of the USPTO process which, like most governmental processes, takes forever.
  8. Nice. Perhaps have ChatGPT put the summary into the form of song lyrics inspired by a certain artist and you might get something interesting.
  9. I'm old enough to appreciate someone who uses mores. CAP Friendly. I think that should explain it? Washington CAPitals, the CAPs.
  10. The very basic search I did before posting said he proposed and things spoke that he and his girlfriend had a baby together. Frankly for me overall, it didn't matter much if it was his or someone else's bachelor party or if he's married or not... but was updating more about what he was reportedly wearing since we know going shirtless in the sun means that you don't take hockey seriously. 🙂
  11. Well, perhaps because the name is capfriendly the NHL could encourage Washington to buy it for their new fan site? Using the word mores is very out of step with current mores.
  12. So.. I misread his initial information. It was Alex Tuch's bachelor party. Why it was in Texas, I do not know. He arrived in a pink tank top, white skirt, and white bedazzled visor. He was not shirtless. So, I think he can still be captain?
  13. If it has any merit whatsoever... a friend of mine works at a golf course in Texas (he also works for the Texas Stars, but not relevant here). There was a bachelor party golf outing and Alex Tuch was part of the event (knew the bachelor). He arrived with Girgensons and Thompson for the golf event. I have no reason to doubt my friend of the authenticity of this but he know who those three are would not mistake them. He also knew Tuch was coming because his name was on one of the golf groups. So, at least Girgensons went to a bachelor party in Texas with Tuch who might or might not be the next captain.
  14. Haha.. freakin board flaked out when I was hitting Submit Reply.. I saw the button momentarily say Saving and then nothing happened. Then I needed to get to a meeting so I didn't even think it posted.
  15. I will equate Fortitude to be F You All Attitude. He simple just doesn't give an F. It's beautiful. I will equate Fortitude to be F You All Attitude. He simple just doesn't give an F. 16. Right, this could happen. Do you think if the Sabres signed him to the same deal he'd have the same success as if he signed in Boston or some other team? How much is the rest of the team? How much is the culture? How much is the coach? How much of last year was the players and how much was the coach? We tend to swing the blame depending on which argument is being made but ultimately there is a ratio of blame and it should not change. There are some players that are not worth being on the roster and the coach did not get the most out of the team.
  17. Pretty sure the answer to your questions could easily be answered with "Because he's the best they have?" which is distinctly different than "Because he's good at it." I'm not saying which I believe... but I wouldn't go chasing him.
  18. Got it. I just don't have alternatives as I'm not interested in overpaying which is what you are saying will most likely have to occur to get them to come to Buffalo. Just questioned back to see what you think is a fair over payment for the players you suggested and where you would see them slotted in. I don't see Lindholm as worth anything north of $6M. I don't see Zadarov as worth much either. Joshua is the enigma.. potential late bloomer but just as easily could be one season and done. I'd probably kick the tires pretty good on him.
  19. I suppose if you were to ask any of the people who spend a large portion of their lives examining the pay of CEO's and debating their relative worth you might find a group that does care. They might even relate it to how horrible Pringle's are and discuss that the CEO is clearly not worth the pay. But this isn't a Pringles board, it's a hockey forum. So on here, people do look at the analytics of hockey operations. They look at the money being spent and want to theorize about how to best construct a roster. They enjoy what they enjoy while you enjoy what you enjoy.
  20. Yes, the ManningCast is unique... or was. You'll see more of these types of alternative broadcasts in the future. The real point of my story was that the youth are consuming media very differently and its changing more rapidly than ever. These adaptations are just the beginning. ESPN I believe had a stat cast going for the NHL game as well where different analytics were being put up in the borders and a player tracker at the bottom listing who was on the ice, how long, and then would change as players left or joined play. Kids brains are rewired to consume far more information at once. Back to the Future 2 wasn't far off in them watching multiple screens of content at once and consuming it fairly well. Well, when you couldn't watch it, or the quality on TV was so low it was imperative to have a strong narrative skill. Very much a lost art, but one that's hardly needed these days unfortunately. People used to listen to the radio when they could not be at home or it was not on TV. Now people just stream the broadcast on their phones while driving or riding.
  21. I didn't crap on them. I don't have a list of dream free agents because I don't agree that none will come here and also don't agree that overpaying them to do is a good idea. I asked a legitimate question about Lindholm. If the reports of him wanting $9M AAV are true, the Sabres have to pay what $10M? Is that a good amount of money to pay a player with his stat line and what role would he be? I don't think he's worth it. With Zadarov I said he was spurned by this organization once before, why would he want to come back? What role? My apologies if this offended you. It was not my intent.
  22. Perhaps get a tanning lamp and a hot tub?
  23. Well, if it happened what makes it laughable? The concept of "live tweeting" is that they tweet what happens. The inferences people draw from it are their own.
  24. You are certainly representing one segment of the sports watching public. Another segment loves that ESPN has the Manningcast for football. It's so popular that alternate broadcasts are popping up in other places. There are segments of society who don't want the play by play or the carefully (or not carefully) crafted story telling. That segment enjoys what people can comment on about the sport happening, not so much describing the play itself. This is very apparent with the growth of content creators who spend most of their time story telling and interacting with viewers. There is a change in society. It's not just hockey. Football is absolutely awful at the pre-scripted story. This is what old school marketers feel will sell the game. It appeals to some groups I guess.
