  1. I'll take the praise but I don't doubt I have used those other words as well, perhaps even earlier in this thread. :)
  2. I'd bet they sit Keith for the remainder of the regular season which won't impact the Hawks at all. They have 5 games left so it almost fits perfectly. I'd love for the Wild to play the Hawks in the first round.. sigh. That was garbage by Keith and it's not his first time doing something stupid like that.
  3. You mean like this?
  4. Meh. I've been in games where officiating is horrible. It saps the energy right out of you. Why even try when you are getting screwed by the officials. Blah blah blah pro this and pro that.. but really. That game last night was the worst officiated game I had seen all season. The Wings had a lot to prove after getting blown away by the Pens and they deserve a lot of credit for their play. Still.. that officiating.
  5. The Vesey situation sounds like his Dad his still in his ear controlling his life trying to make sure his kid fulfills his father's lifelong fantasy. His first statement tells it all. he wasn't given a choice, he was told he would play hockey. After that I began to tune out. The teammate aspect of hockey is known and exists in the NHL as well. I am fine with him going back to college.
  6. They need help to get there.. and they are getting it. You call it nonsense and then don't refute my commentary on the penalties. That's nonsense. The phantom penalty calls have done a great job of tilting the ice. Pointing out 5 on 5 SOG is ignoring that the line combinations are screwed up after a PK or PP. Since the Sabres have been on the PK due to garbage calls it will impact things. That cross-check call on Foligno was an absolute joke. The Sabres would have a hard enough time competing in this game but right now the officials are definitely making it harder. No calls against the Wings and garbage calls against the Sabres. Nonsense indeed. But let's see, the Sabres are getting called for sneezing on the Wings and you expect them to be more aggressive? That makes perfect sense to me. See also. Foligno 2 minutes cross-checking.
  7. If the NHL had a personal conduct policy that treated DUI seriously enough then he would have been suspended. If he was suspended I think that negates the whole "dedication to the game of ice hockey". Look, I like ROR and I think he made a mistake. People make mistakes. Point is, dedication to the game of hockey means you should not be making those poor decisions. There are better candidates on the Sabres this season for nomination over ROR. . Let him persevere a little longer.
  8. Hodgson? Trying to go back and find a link where Hanzel basically says he nailed Giroux in retaliation for Gudas' hit on Doan that forced Doan to leave the game. Gudas.. another cheap shot. The sad truth is it might take people targeting Giroux to get the point across. If the NHL won't police the guy then I am sure the owner will take notice when his expensive toy is out long term with a concussion because his little hitman can't control himself.
  9. This game is being handed to the Wings on a platter by the officials. The calls have been a joke. Gorges doesn't actually have to move out of the way of the forward. The dude skated right into him and then hung onto him to draw the penalty. Meanwhile SAbres are getting belted all over the place with nary a glance from the refs. Garbage. I've not seen something this one sided in a long time. Reminds me of when I hate hockey the most. When the officials are so one-sided it ruins the game. Wonder why NBCSN never showed the elbowing call... I didn't see anything get up other than D-Lo in Larkin's face with a hit. Disgusting officiating and THAT's why the shots are so lopsided. THAT's why the line combinations are messed up. Screw the refs in this one.
  10. It really is a joke of a nomination in my opinion. The first thing I thought of when I heard he was nominated was the DUI. Perhaps his ability to overcome a craving for donuts made him a worthwhile nominee? But the media is the media and at least they are showing they are consistently clueless as we have projected. Lehner as well? He's overcome the concussion to succumb to the high ankle sprains? Ooooookay. Pretty sure I would have nominated Chad Johnson. Even Gorges would have been a better choice given his return from knee surgery. Oh well...
  11. Everyone has beer... do you really think we have better hookers?
  12. On the ice.. yes. Yeppers. Just the appearance of a curve. In the jets game his goal is primarily scored because he pulls the puck in about 6 inches towards his body before letting the shot go. In doing this he rapidly changes the starting point of the shot and thus impacts the tracking of Hutchinson. Top snipers and goalies will talk about that all the time. Players who can alter the starting point of their shot rapidly will give a goaltender problems. In the other game he floats a shot from the blueline. There will continue to be some lateral inertia on the puck because he's not apply a hard enough forward force to counteract it. Thus the puck will tend to drift. On the ice you can curve a puck over the distance of the rink. But that's expected when you use the friction on the spinning puck surface. However, it only goes one way as I've not figured out how to shoot from toe to heel and get any significant revolutions on the puck.
  13. Despite the pain people are inflicting on themselves over where Fasching is playing this should be a good game. Right now Bylsma is just looking for fit and that's part of the reason the kid moved around Saturday. He'll likely move around again tonight. Let's see if he can bring it against a different style team. I'd like to think so. Go Sabres!
  14. Memories... oh man. The angles to the ice from the oranges... if only they built arenas that way today.. love it.
  15. Clearly they are all gunning for the #1 overall pick. Why wouldn't all of them jump at the chance to draft a fantastic kid from the USofA?
  16. On a mission eh? Did Rip fire a relative of yours at one point? Great goal. Great power move.
  17. Lucky me... under the weather so I have no energy to do anything BUT sit on the couch and watch the game. Sigh.
  18. Good to know you are safe. I'll say this. I was watching CNN in the hotel yesterday morning and they were highlighting the people exciting the subway area and how calm they were and pointing to at least one lady who appeared to be helping keep everything orderly. For me that was an amazing sight and a testament to the people.
  19. Had to take a trip to the Boston area quickly over the past two days. Decided to drive.. hit up Julio's Liquors.. glad I did. I'll have a lot of new brews to sample over the next few weeks. Can't wait. They had some Wicked Weed there as well. The few bottles they had were in the $18-$20 range which is basically a no go for me. (It's just beer and I can make my own). But it was cool to see a lot of new stuff. Great prices too overall. Cool on Deschutes. I would imagine that it's only a matter of time before it ends up in WNY which would be great. Fresh-Squeezed IPA and Black Butte Porter are absolutely fantastic.
  20. Because not everything in life needs to be given to you just because you showed up. I never understood why people have such a problem with the tradition that if you haven't earned your stripes you don't get stripes. He just got here. He's got a shot at the job he's wanted all his life. He knows and if he respects the game and his situation then he's not going to care. He'll want that number just as much as he'll want that roster spot. One other thought.. if there are two prospects who are both eyeing the same number... which one gets it? The one who just signed an ELC from college and had some leverage to get on the team a bit earlier?
  21. The typical NHL move is to have Gionta play out his last year on the contract and have Bailey/Fasching as the 2-way players for roster flexibility. I would bet that is a much more likely scenario. In addition, Carrier has been lighting it up in Rochester and will also warrant a look.
  22. Referring back to the guy being fired... This follows on the news about Moulson not adjusting to the program that this guy presumably had put in place. The reference some issues with more than just snacks. The interesting part is that with his entire team being retained it seems like perhaps they have the department they want but the guy was just a personality clash with others in the organization. So at least he built something they were inclined to keep around.
  23. The Piston Cup?
  24. Oh my gosh... I was mentioned in the GDT!!!! :w00t: We'll be playing out the last tournament of the youth hockey season tonight in Hyde Park in Niagara Falls. I'd rather be watching the Sabres!
  25. Wow.. people are angry in this thread. I'm not bothered. But for those who love to bash BOGO.. know that it stands for "Bury One, Give One" Tra la la la la....
