  1. Scary stuff... http://www.theplayerstribune.com/bryce-salvador-if-youre-going-through-hell/
  2. There was no other team to root for.... sure as heckfire not rooting for Canada or Russia.
  3. I bet the fans were lit...
  4. The new lighting makes players appear faster than they are.
  5. I laughed a long time last night after reading Kessel's tweet. A long time. He earned a lot of respect in my opinion. Frankly, there's no way he regrets that tweet ever. If the powers that be are offended and they are still in charge then he's not getting picked anyway. Anyone new is going to know that he was right. It was laughable how outplayed they were.
  6. I don't live in the past.
  7. A couple cell phone shots from my trip to Virginia. I have a few on the camera, need to dig those up. We took a two hour harbor cruise on this sailing out of Norfolk. Sunset cruise. Pretty cool time. This is a statue outside the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk. The elephant is made up of butterflies and the butterfly made up of elephants.
  8. Had my team on the ice for its first scrimmage today. I'm finally back on 2-3 nights per week coaching so I have that going for me! Love hockey... love it.
  9. https://www.nhl.com/news/longtime-winnipeg-jets-fan-len-kropioski-dies-at-98/c-281768734 First off, congratulations to the man on an outstandingly long life including one that saw "his team" go away for a period of time. Little things like these bring such character to sports, cities, and franchises. It's always a shame when they come to an end. You've got to mean something pretty special to the team to be the "scene" after the playing of your National Anthem.
  10. Thanks. They are acclimating to the new house and beginning to show their personalities. so awesome. We had our last dog for 18 years (died last April) so I've not had a puppy in a long time...
  11. Hmm.. I didn't think he and I looked alike at all.
  12. Still not sure I am going to buy it. If I do.. I will be playing EASHL. Feel free to add me.. "InstantSpuds"
  13. Love it.
  14. The part of things that throws me though is that, as far as I know, and I assume others, up until joining the Sabres, Kane was never arrested or charged with a crime right? There were his social media posts, the stories of his clashing with teammates, but legally he was clean? So, you'd not know the guy would be on this path. I'm sure they have access to more inside information than people outside of NHL circles, so I have faith that the risk wasn't THAT great. Still.. I think it's safe to say that if you knew he would be charged with these crimes you probably wouldn't trade for the guy. That seems that obvious. "Hey, we know you'll get arrested and charged with some crimes that involve violence against women but we really want you on this team." I don't see that thought/phrase ever existing.
  15. Opportunity.. I mean we were going to get a shelter/rescue dog or dogs no matter what. These girls met all our criteria from a basic mix and size guesstimate. In talking with the rescue it's amazing how many animals were displaced. It's the story you never hear about. They are doing their best but the rescues in Louisiana themselves are insane trying to move them all over the country and begging other programs to take them because they have so many.
  16. Just adds to what I love about him. His offensive zone ability is superb. He's a complete player. We see him hammer guys in front of his net, lays a big hit here or there, has great vision and a shot that can get the puck to the net all with very solid skating. As the rest of the team improves he'll really begin to stand out as a player at the highest level.
  17. I think it's his choice to use the phrase "keep his nose clean".
  18. Sigh. "Niagra Frontier Transportation Authority" It does not rhyme with the little blue pill. 7:41 of the video. Other than that.. cool.
  19. I would agree. That said.. he was operating with 3.5 limbs versus 4 full. Either way... I've also now seen (not in Rio but elsewhere) a person who was missing parts of all 4 limbs swimming. Just to see it was amazing.. and inspirational.
  20. I believe it's accurate. I was able to trial it as part of my EA Access pass. The game is improved. They released a gameplay update yesterday and I think that brought back some of the stupidity from NHL 16 but I have not played enough to say for sure. Still not convinced to buy it yet. Probably a wait on this one and potentially get it as part of EA Access later.
  21. Pics of my new puppies.. not the greatest photos but I figured the photography thread was a good place for it. The first one is River, the second Heron. They were named by the rescue. They were rescued from the floods in Louisiana as a full litter with their mother. They are just about 13 weeks old. Heron is the name of the street they were rescued from.
  22. I watched swimming and saw a swimmer who was missing part of one arm (forget which arm but from the elbow) win gold against swimmers with two arms in 100M backstroke. I don't understand the different classifications they use (which I presume are to try and "equate" the competition) but any time a guy missing part of an arm can beat swimmer who have both arms color me damn impressed. I heard a story about the US long jumper who is blind. Pretty damn cool. All of it is amazing on what these athletes do to compete given their situation.
  23. Shepherd/Beagle/Hound mix it's believed. I can put pics in the picture thread. :) They were brought up to Rochester from Lousiana as part of a rescue from the flooding. http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/24128-photography-thread/?do=findComment&comment=857585 See, I never opened the thread. I saw it and thought "I don't want to talk about the Bills". Apparently it saved my sanity. Don't let a few "off-topic" threads derail you from the important hockey conversation we always have!
  24. Because looking psychotic on the ice is not enough? :) Less weight would be good. We'll see what happens.
  25. Not aware of the story on Setoguchi at all. The quote sounds like the guys were trying to keep him on track as he deals with alcoholism?
