  1. As antiquated as it might be, watch this video ... And don't look down at your feet ... good hockey posture and look up.
  2. Maybe there's more to that Heatley-Murray Ottawa connection than we know ...
  3. The holders on Graf skates are pitched forward as opposed to Bauer holders which are either neutral or slightly backward. Grafs are also more expensive than Bauers and the others. I can't speak as to the width compared to Bauer, but I would certainly get fitted as your arch height is as important as the width. Graf does sell models that are geared to the wider, higher arch feet such as the Ultra G70. Youtube has a ton of videos with drills for beginning hockey skaters.
  4. Glenn Healy on HNIC just referred to the Sabres as the "Buffalo Americans" - hope he eats those words in a few years.
  5. Depends on the type of non-Hodgkins lymphoma - I should know ... I was diagnosed with follicular B-cell lymphoma in early 2005 and was put on watch-and-wait right after a biopsy. Almost 8 years later and I've had no treatment and am living the same life I was before the diagnosis. Most days I don't even think about it ... Best of luck with the family member ...
  6. I'm just as pleased as the rest of you that Regier is gone ...but I'd be even more pleased if Lafontaine cast aside some of the driftwood on this team this week. The word "compete' is not present in some of our player's vocabulary and Nolan can't drag out what ain't there ...
  7. Does "interim" mean that Lindy replaces Ted at the end of the season ?
  8. Grafs are also more expensive - I also don't believe a beginner needs a top-of-the-line skate and a $200 pair of Bauer/CCM would do just fine. To add to the fitting discussion ... I also took up hockey at a later age and have been playing for 10 years now. Getting fitted correctly is extremely important and one thing often overlooked is the volume of the skate. Skaters with low arches do better with one type of skate and high arch folks do better with another. All skates from the same company do not have the same volume. I skate in Bauer One95s, but could never fit correctly in a Vapor. And sizing differs from one skate company to another ... I wear an 11.5D dress shoe and wear a 9.5EE Bauer skate. Get fitted ... As far as lace bite, a lot of cases occur when a skater is wearing a skate that doesn't have enough volume. Search for the skate "pencil test" on Google and that will give you an idea of how much volume you will need with your skate. I always had good luck with Front Row Sports in Thorold. Not sure if they're still there, but they are very patient and know how to fit correctly.Good luck ...
  9. Wait, there's still some hope to get a last minute package containing Derek Roy's dirty underwear ...
  10. Tambellini fired - Nieuwendyk fired - Regier should be fired
  11. Due to the tiebreaker, the Rags need 2 regulation wins in the last 5 to eliminate us ... considering they play NJ twice and NJ has only one win in the last 11, our fate is sealed. We are not the LA Kings from 2011-12 - we are the Buffalo Sabres, desperately in need of a new GM and rebuild. IMO, miraculously getting into the playoffs would just extend Regier's tenure. I'd like to believe that Terry/Ted have already decided to can Regier after the season.
  12. Too bad the rest of the team is like reading the Saturday obituaries.
  13. Shots 42-15 Habs in a must-win game - wait, the last 10 games were all must win games ... Darcy, take a hard look - you built this dynasty.

    playoff line

Agreed, since the Rags only play one team above them in standings in the last 9 games and also have a game in hand. The Isles also have 17 ROW compared to Buffalo's 11 and are 7-2-1 in the their last 10. See ya next year ...

    Keep 5

    Hodgson Ehrhoff Ott Weber Foligno
  16. In order to hit 54 points, the Sabres can only afford to give up 10 more points in the 20 games left to play ... a tall if not impossible order at best.
  17. Drew Stafford - I'm an underachiever, soft, slow afoot and cower when cornered.

    Our power play

You mean Ehrhoff's booming shot, don't you ? Don't think too many goalies are in fear of Regehr's shot ...
  19. Thanks, I would have guessed that the 7 points behind meant 7 behind the Rangers if they won all 3 games to get to the same total of 22 games played as the Sabres.
  20. Is there a post somewhere that explains your scoring and goal differential system ?
