Hey! I think that timing and circumstance around when these two guys joined the team has a huge effect on how they are perceived. Turgeon had the misfortune of immediately replacing the most beloved Sabre ever, and a true HOFer, and was traded for the most charismatic player we’ve ever had who happened to have HOF level talent himself. And as mentioned upthread, Turgeon is the highest scoring player not in the HOF. Jack, on the other hand, filled a vacuum of suckitude. Frankly, it’s been since LaFontaine that we’ve had this kind of skill level at forward. There is no shade in claiming Jack is working towards Pierre level. He’s accomplished less so far, after all.

Too soon for me. Top 20 talent? Of course. Top 20 Sabre? Will be interesting to see the names that come up there. Right now I don't put him ahead of Turgeon for sure.

Mine too. Division rival with a good track record against and noone on the roster that you worry about hurting our guys. Makes for fun games to watch. Who was the last truly hated Montreal player? Been a long time since Knuckles Nilan or Shayne Corson.

Hopefully you meant Dom and not that meathead from the great Satan. ? As for the sentiment above, I wholeheartedly agree. I can’t vote a guy “top” when he forced his way out the way Dom did. I’ll grudgingly call him #2 only because there is noone else remotely in the conversation.

It’s hard for me to expect that the relatively small changes up front made that much difference. Certainly it wasn’t expected by most here. Which means we have to believe that this much performance change is the result of the defense or the coach. Given that we still have 4 of 6 defenders from most of last season, and 2 of them were among the most maligned players on the team, I cannot say I expected huge gains there. And that leaves coaching. Given that my belief was that we had player problems greater than coach problems over the last 7 seasons, I have to wonder if this is sustainable. I’ll need to see consistency. A good, solid stretch of it. It may not be until well into the stretch run in the last 1/3 of the season before I’ll be able to be all in.

I don't think Erod has the skill set Kreuger wants on that line. Sobotka is certainly less than ideal, but I think he fills a role that is important for Kreuger. Erod would not fill that role.

Agreed. It sure looks like they are a capable team right now. The in division games will be interesting to watch.
