Good to know. And will do.

My son is getting the shaft over this one. Was going with his GF. She changed her schedule so she could make the 7pm start. Now she’s locked in and he spent money on a date night that won’t happen. Its not like kids starting out have money to burn..... The one and only way I’ll pay to see this ***** show live is I may take them off his hands.

Sounds like Jbott wants some grit in reserve. Should be NHL talent level grit tho.
-
At this rate he's trending 3C in Roc as his upside....
-
My point was missed. And I am way to grouchy about non hockey things to expand on it. White flag raised.

At the risk of mis-speaking for PA, I'm pretty sure this is where his complaint (if you can call it that) lies. Way premature, and spoken with such conviction. Hopefully we'll see it at some point, but he has a long ways to go to be spoken of with the top handful of defensemen currently in the league, let alone an arguably GOAT. I think his point is valid. I'm not at a point of concern that he's destined to me "former 1st overall pick", but I also think his current prowess in his own end is overstated, as is his current ability to tilt the ice. Right now I see him as an OK defenseman and powerplay specialist. Good descriptions for a 19 yr old kid, but I think his current game is more over-hyped than his potential. Fortunately, he's early in the development cycle. Valid. He's not showing young Crosby compete for sure. Then again, Crosby's a first ballot HOF guaranteed. Rare stuff that only maybe 1 pick each decade has. It's no crime if Dahlin never gets to that level of compete. But it's what the Sabres need so it's not unusual that it might get brought up.

I recall massive hype. Like ZOMG Sabres stole one at this spot hype. Then again, other than Grigorenko, I think hype has been the skill set our draft picks have most excelled at.
-
I think that a 19 yr old defenseman having the expectation to be that difference maker is a problem. We here collectively expected it given the Norris and HOF talk. Noone last year or this year was saying things like Norris is spite of 10 goal seasons. It was his offensive game that was brought up the most.

How many seasons have been labeled “next season”? -
I think it has to be suffering. Coined by Darcy in 2010. Lasting through 2020 (at least). It really has defined the decade.

Nylander.

I think there is still time to add a 2C. And that would be my priority. I’d want to add some grit on the bottom 6 as well. I think we can live with Ullmark and 1 out of every 4 games of Hutton if we can get the 2nd line going. -
Yes.

I think his problems aren’t going to be readily worked on in-season in Roc, Cincy, or anywhere else. We’re not going to see improvement over the course of this season. I think he’s going to have to commit like never before in the offseason. Not just conditioning, but skills development as well.
-
I think we are too quick in general to throw the low hockey IQ label on players. I do suspect that it is much more about attitude/commitment however. As Ink and others allude to, he doesn’t have a modern hockey physique. Phil Kessel can get away with it because he has HOF talent. Mitts, not so much.

I still say his annual nose dive is directly related to the team's lack of something meaningful to play for by that point.

Donald J Trump, your thoughts on his Presidency
Weave replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
Since that was a hit and run post I’ll expand on it. Absolute best case scenario, if you are excusing the behavior you are enabling it. Enabling is supporting. So as long as you are willing to look the other way and excuse it away because he’s doing something you agree with you are enabling his behavior. Taking this further, I understand the discomfort regarding being lumped in with the bad part of Donald Trump, but if you are being honest with yourself you have to see and accept that by supporting Trump you are inherently reinforcing the bad. When Nixon was impeached the reason that Senate leadership approached Nixon and asked him to step down was because Nixon was just about out of support from the Republican portion of populace. Nixon doesn't get asked to resign if the Republican voters maintained support. By the same token, the only thing stopping McConnell from asking for Trump to step down is the base that is sticking with Trump through all of the controversy. And without any real pushback from the Republican party, the bad part of Trump is emboldened and enabled. -

Yes, the bigot is more childish and immature than the people saying that the bigot’s followers are supporting bigotry. Really, I thought that would be self evident. -
We did the same when our son was in grade school. The router was set up to allow access from time A to time B. Simple, hands off management.

And for background, I took a break from this site back before the election because of the tone of those characterizing Trump voters. During the primaries, and in the run up to the election there was alot of noise on this site stating basically that if you support Trump you are supporting bigotry. I took exception to it because it was characterizing members of my immediate family as supporters of bigotry. I took enough exception to it that I disappeared for a few months. I'm stating that to say that my movement towards the idea that supporting this President is supporting bigotry has been an evolving one. The family members who supported and voted for Trump acknowledge their error and see now that his policies really are based on intolerance and not patriotism. That he makes decisions for his benefit and not the country's. I'm proud to say that I have surrounded myself with people that don't have a party loyalty that clouds their judgement of the people in those parties. Given how far we are into his term, and that Pence is the next batter up, there is no need to support Trump to get the policy you want. So if you are still supporting Trump at this time, and using some policy point to defend that support, you are in fact supporting the bigotry and intolerance he is using to base his policy decisions. Because you don't need Trump in office to have that policy maintained through the next inauguration. There really is no valid defense for using policy to support the President at this point. If you are defending Trump, it is because you support Trump the person and not Trump the policy anymore. -

You missed, or dismissed, Eleven's point completely. Single issue voters really won't be affected by an impeachment unless your single issue is bigoted. If Trump is removed from office Mike Pence is a more than conservative enough caretaker for the remainder of the term to ensure that whatever conservative single issue you cherish is protected until the next election. So protecting Trump over a single issue is bunk, pure and simple. In fact, if it really is a conservative issue that you are concerned about, Pence is the better person for it anyway, seeing as that Trump is not a conservative. -
I'm about ready to write him off. He's had 0 professional growth. At this point if something positive happens we're playing in bonus time.

Was 10 when A New Hope was released in ‘77. Saw every new release in the theaters. Got my son hooked on the franchise early. No casual fan here. However, It was a spaghetti western in ‘77. They are still spaghetti westerns today. LOL at the “why so serious”. These movies have been simple popcorn flicks from day 1, the equivalent of the Die Hard franchise. Or more appropriately, A Fistful of Dollars. Yet noone decries plot holes and asymmetry there. Relax and enjoy the ride, man. *****’s fun if you let it. It’s fantasy for crying out loud.

Was really looking forward to watching this with my son this weekend. Yesterday he was involved in a workplace accident and has a concussion. No movies for us for a bit. The incident is Thursday thread worthy. He’s going to be OK, but the situation should have never happened and its got my dander up.
