  1. The first few years of the Bandits. A group of us at work had season tickets right from year 1. On game nights we'd hit the Spaghetti Factory for dinner, then off to......I don't remember the name of the bar anymore, right across from the entrance to Pilot Field (on Washington St I believe).... for beers pre-game. Walk to the Aud. Seats in the lower blues, center ice. Then off to Carlos Garcia's or Lafayette Tap Room. Those were some fun Friday nights. Only championship I've seen won.
  2. Now there is something that the arena should have, and I missed when they moved out of the Aud. Signs in the aisles with league standings, leading scorers, and yes, the star points. So many simple, fan-centric items that were lost to the new arena "experience". It's like the entire league forgot that it is about the game. And you are correct re: Andy Ristau. Was a playoff game against Hershey IIRC. Ristau got beaten pretty badly and was never the same. I think he quit the league the next season.
  3. I am about there myself. The lack of progress from last season is very concerning.
  4. Snipped it here. No, they need a 2C indefinitely. Until Cozens, Mitts, or anyone else proves they can play 2C effectively, they need a 2C. IOW, Botts shouldn’t plan for a stopgap. Too many guys drafted in the 7-15 range don’t develop as needed to make a decision about the position short term.
  5. One more..... waiting until 5 minutes after puck drip to get tix from scalpers in the upper blues for like 5 bucks. And then moving into the golds near the end of the period once you’ve scoped out empty seats.
  6. You guys need a translator. One is speaking points percentage and the other win percentage and they don’t mean the same.
  7. Too many to choose from. Boston playoff game after some meathead dumped a beer on Muckler in Boston. What a crazy scene for the next game in Buffalo. 1st concert. Styx Paradise Theater tour. First time in a setting like that without adult supervision. Last game at the aud. Vivid memory I wish I didn’t have, being in the 5th row of the golds next to the zamboni doors the night Malarchucks life changed forever. First game back for Gare after he was traded. Scrum on the ice. Gare involved. Playfair gets involved. Gare turtles and the place hoes nuts. “Larry! Larry! Larry!”. Just off the top of my head...
  8. Sobotka ought too be on everyone's list simply because he's a non-factor if we are a playoff team. Bogo is in my second spot to be moved, due to our depth at D. I'd want Scandella around for the playoffs. I'd want Bogo for the playoffs too, but admit he's not as effective as Scandella, and it is a position of depth, so he makes the list. I'm only moving the rest if there is an upgrade involved.
  9. Surrounding a young core with cagey vets. Whoda thunk it? I’ll show myself out.
  10. That was a way better game than I expected. They are good enough to hang with the leagues best right now.
  11. Inattention and a disinterested skate back to the bench when he was pulled for an extra attacker a couple games back.
  12. 1971 Punch Imlach didn't think that way.
  13. Well, he's not playing so maybe that does make him our best defender......
  14. This is a strange debate, really. Deluca.500 was never anything more than a benchmark (you used the correct word). Teams that manage to end the season at Deluca .500 or better make up the vast majority of the teams that make the playoffs. It's an excellent benchmark to gauge whether your team is trending as a playoff team. It's nothing more than that. A quick evaluation of relative performance.
  15. Pretty sure that's what put Cody McCormick on the former NHLer list. Scary stuff.
  16. Required by the FCC. Because AM travels so far at night stations above a certain power level are required to take steps to reduce their signal travel.
  17. There has been an awakening. Have you felt it? Eleven is speaking meme.
  18. No, you don't wish you were older, LOL. I saw 30 years ago and wondered where it all went.
  19. You're not alone.
  20. Buffalo will never institute Buffalo metro only ticket purchasing. Since the Rigas era they've worked hard to expand their market as far as possible to compete revenue-wise with the competing NHL cities. No stinking way they go back to local ticket revenue only. Too many tickets to be sold at higher prices to Canadian ticket purchasers especially.
  21. Or turn down their power. FCC allows either option for night time operation. Do we know for a fact that WGR uses one or the other?
  22. And he missed and caught him with his wrist/forearm, so not even an elbow.
