My early observation is that JJ is probably going to need to change his game somewhat to be successful with Buffalo. We have so much offensive talent up front right now and JJ isn’t likely getting in front of any of it. And in a couple of seasons he should have a fair amount of pressure behind him. I think JJ is going to need to develop some jam to differentiate his game from what’s on the roster, and what’s coming. He’s got the frame to do it.

Even if he is equivalent to Clague and Bryson, He is a better stylistic match for some opponents. In that regard, he IS an upgrade.

You are hung up on a low probability magic bean. We traded a slight chance at a depth forward for an actual depth defenseman who’s young, has a little term, and is less risk. This is whining over nearly nothing.

He seems to be a slight Fitzgerald improvement. In fact, losing Fitz may have been the reason we got this kid.

Yup. Stillman is not another Bryson. He fills a stylistic hole in this roster. He’ll step in when Krebs feels the need to drop his gloves. He’ll block shots, and get physical, all things Bryson and Clague do not do. He’s not another puck mover. He’s the guy that stays back to green light the puck mover. He’s what we needed instead of Bryson as a 6/7 guy.

Maybe, just maybe, the guy who watches Bloom closely isn’t nealry as optimistic as you are about the kids NHL future.

The kids would be a poor substitute for KO and Z. We need their type of game in the lineup. Two rooks aren’t providing that.

Given the trade talk, I was concentrating on Jensen a bit yesterday. For the right price, hell yeah.

I don’t think it is anything more than Asplunds game doesn’t fit the type of hockey Granato wants the team to play. To be honest, I always considered Asplund a AAAA player and not important to the team going forward anyway.

When I first read that tweet I thought, thats fuggin ridiculous. But your point is well made. I don’t know squat about Cal Foote, but all the rest is 1 or 2 NHL players most likely. Is Jeannot really worth 2 NHLers and whatever Cal Foote’s value is? If Tampa gets to the finals again and Jeannot is a positive contributor to it, I wouldn’t bitch as a fan. You only get so many kicks at it. Might as well be all in while the window is open.

Not pissed, but disappointed. I really think it would be a missed opportunity to give this young core a good run at a playoff round.
