Lazy. I don’t have the information, contacts, scouting reports needed to have credible ideas of what can and cannot be done. I’m also not tasked with building a winning team. You don’t have to have a solution as a fan to have an expectation.

I would certainly hope any GM would recognize what they have on ice and support it when the performance justifies it.

Ypu missed the point maybe? When it became apparent mid season that this team was ready, a slight change of course was the reaction we were looking for. That’s not reacting to hindsight, it is reacting to the moment.

My public message is that noone should feel comfortable

I would sit down with KA, tell him that not making the playoffs next season and several seasons after is unacceptable, and unshackle him to do what he thinks best to make that happen. And give him a public vote of confidence.

It was fun while it lasted. Mostly. I feel kinda bad for Okposo. I really wanted to see the team get into the show for him. The opportunity was there.

I don’t understand why this concept is difficult to grasp.

Really the issue with this line of thinking is that if you wait until you can beat whoever the 1 seed is, you are continually waiting another season. Even a 4 game sweep is a valuable learning experience for this team. Learning playoff hockey at 22 makes them so much more prepared to advance at 23. And 24. In regards to moving top picks and prospects, we have a huge supply of both. We also had very valuable cap space to weaponize. Next season we are going to be hard pressed to find room for two rookies AND fill holes in the type of player we currently lack (holes we could have solidly identified in a playoff series by the way). The season after that is probably more of the same. We are literally splitting at the seams with solid prospects. Certainly some combination of prospect, pick, cap space was usable to get gains now without sacrificing our ability to be successful 3 seasons down the road. Noone said over pay. Noone wants to do it at the expense of the future. Why is nuance so difficult?

Bring in a starter quality guy and let them duke it out all season. *it won’t happen. No doubt in my mind we have the same 3 headed monster we ended this season with.

That is why I called it opportunity lost. This team was so much better than expected. Why not capitalize on that? The future is never guaranteed.

No anger here. I ain’t got the emotional budget for that. But this does feel like opportunity lost. And that had to fall on KA to not recognize it and adjust course accordingly. This team was better than expected. Alot better. A goalie and a difference maker, either forward or defence, would have put us in the playoffs. Yes, it appears we had some issues with goalies that didn’t want to be here. In alot of ways, I don’t care. As they say, it’s a performance based business, and every other GM in the league would have been judged on their ability to make those moves happen. Im glad the team is likeable again. I’m glad the hope seems much more realistic this time. But I don’t pay attention for hope. The entertainment the team provides was cut off early because of GM inflexibility. Period. Having said that, he’ll get a feee pass for this season, and I won’t complain about it. Next season however, there needs to be significant pressure to make some noise in the playoffs.

Either way, it was more optimism than factual.

Mostly enforced through public shaming.

I think it’s just a contract detail that needs wrapping up. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I’m assuming Johnson’s team is trying to apply some leverage to get a promise of a game this season, and that is the holdup. Im also assuming that KA promises that game as soon as we are eliminated from the playoffs, and as soon as we are eliminated he signs a contract.

Center position might have some interesting competition next season. Mitts, Tage, Cozens, Krebs, Jost (is he signed for next season?) Would like at least one of those names stand out as a face off guy and a shutdown guy. We are missing that aspect.

I was there with my GF (wife now). 1st row of the oranges right in front of that cylindrical wall. Crazy game.

End of the second round? 35% is quite optimistic.

I don’t have a good feeling because we don’t match up well vs Carolina. I think its best we didn’t subject the chosen one to the ***** show we might see tonight. I hope Im wrong.
