Was that the first game they were able to fight through a close checking team? It seems like it. Not many games going late into the 3rd period 0-0 can be called entertaining, but this one was. Glad Okie got the winner. He deserves it.

It seems that the guys on the ice go out of their way to express their appreciation and enthusiasm for it, so its not just a fan thing. Players of all types go out of their way to mention it in positive ways. Can’t say I recall a player dismissing it.

I have to assume that, in a league where 1/3 of the starting goalies are mediocre at best, quite a few teams would be interested in finding a way to put a Saros on their roster.

Draft picks are so overvalued. The opportunity to get a bonafide #1 goalie that could be with the team for years? That demonstrably improves the team immediately? One player that changes the odds of success considerably, by himself? Yeah, if it took an extra 50% chance at a 2-4th line player in a couple of years to make that deal? With the prospect pool and young roster that we have? Why wouldn’t you be in? Of course, we all should prefer a cost closer to market value, but if that’s what it took to close the deal? I’m in.

There is an esprit de corp these moments develop that seems under appreciated. It’s not the “well that will teach the next guy who thinks they are going try this” as much as it is the excitement and the sense that the team has their backs. It seems infectious to me, and that is the real value.

I don’t think it was so much forcing UPL into the role. I think it was kissing Levi’s ass by showing him we have an immediate opening. I suspect if the immediate opening wasn’t demonstrated, getting him to sign would have been even more problematic. A goalie tank to sign the preferred goalie.

100% agree. I didn’t agree with having so many 1st and 2nd year players this season. These kids didn’t get the support they needed, and the proof is in what is happening to this team now. I really hope KA goes out and gets the veteran players that makes the barrier for the next wave of kids much more difficult to cross.
