Vanek still knows how to score, and has shown he can still pitch in with faster players so I'd be very interested in his return. 1 year, 2.6mil like his last contract. Let the guy just get to the front of the net and tip and deflect pucks in. Plus we'd get the around the world back in the shoot outs

I'd love to get Vanek cheap to just play WR to Eichel's passes to the front. Plus we could have a 2nd PP with 2 guys that are great just outside the crease. (Moulson & Vanek) Thus we'd have 2 differing styled PP attacks with ROR/Eichel shooters to Reinhart's screens with Okposo and Risto aiding. The 2nd having a more old school get the puck to the net and between our deflection and jamming we should get goals there. Plus there'd be a better chance an opponent could counter such differing PPs. Plus Vanek devours the Bruins

I'd say yes to a degree, the fact his contract is also his number tells me at very least something was done to help the team going forward. Out of his ELC he signed a 5 year 8.7 mil contract. Then he signed a 12 year 8.7 mil contract. This one definitely seems that at least to some degree he didn't want to hand cuff his team.

I'd be tempted to offer Grigs a 1 year >1mil contract to C the 4th line due to his faceoff ability. That is if we can't get a Bonino or a Boyle to fill 3/4th Center and can't get the wingers to play Reinhart on line 3.
