  1. No interest in trading Risto in the division, especially to Tampa. Nothing they'd be willing to give us would be worth the huge risk.
  2. I don’t think Kessel will be worth a ton at this point. He’s 31 and making 7 mil for 3 years until he’s 34/35. He’s a one trick pony who if he loses his scoring is a cap Hell scenario. I’d offer Scandella and a 4th and nothing more. They save money, I take a high risk reward player who’s on the wrong side of 30.
  3. You and Blue can continue to think ROR was scapegoated but I honestly will always believe there was far more to it than that. Thus I will always despise him for that and for seemingly re-finding his love in St. Louis. So I pray the Blues lose by round 2 not only because of him but for their draft pick which if one of CBJ, VGK, DAL, or COL make it out of the 2nd round we'd get the 19th pick.
  4. It isn’t hard to come to the conclusion he quit on the team. He literally stated he fell out of love with the game and had difficulty motivating himself. If I were his teammate I would suddenly begin to wonder if he wasn’t working his hardest. Minor inconsistencies suddenly become reason to not trust him, regardless of the truth. Combine that with his brother’s infamous quitting on the Amerks and you can easily conclude he wanted out and had quit on the team.
  5. ROR quit on our team akin to his older brother did with the Amerks. I will never forgive him for that. You don’t tell the media that you didn’t give a full effort all 82 games and then claim to want to stay. He’s a snake and needs to burn in Hell. Lehner I’m less angry with only because I feel bad for his previous problems and we were nice enough to keep that private while giving him a fresh start. WPG and TBL wake the hell up! Im starting to worry about the worst possible scenario of a Leafs vs Blues final which I wish it could end inconclusively due to a Spanish Flu outbreak like the one in the early part of the 1900’s
  6. 1. A guy with head coaching experience in professional hockey 2. Trade Risto for one 3. Yes 7/8 years for about 8 mil 4. Trade for 2C but not in the Conference. If he finds himself he’ll be a great dman. 5. Banish Sobotka to Grand Island and tell him he can’t leave it until his contract is up.
  7. Offer him Matthews contract and he likely does. Better taxes too
  8. Dammit, they're on to me! In actually, I don't really feel angry. We got a generational talent in Dahlin last year so I'm not exactly hung up about not winning twice in a row. Plus no one else in our division got even stronger thanks to the lottery.
  9. Happy to win again in regulation Sad from Pommers' interviews Glad the year is nearly over Angry we blew our chance at the playoffs yet again
  10. Worst part about that period was both Toronto goals were purely luck. It seems as if regardless of if we play hard as possible or pack it in like wimps; the bounces will always favor our opponents and I can honestly understand if some of the Sabres feel that way at this point. Effectively why bother playing hard if the other team will score off a triple deflection.
  11. I wonder if we could convince Housley to serve as an associate coach under Quennville? As in demote him without changing his salary and letting him focus on player development and teaching
  12. Aside from the Risto trade I like it. Have no interest in trading Risto in the division to a team notorious for magically fixing players.
  13. I'd sign a goalie and a winger to add reinforcements to both Rochester and potentially Buffalo.
  14. I will always have a soft spot for Ristolainen for his physicality and pesky play but if I can swing Risto for RNH I’d do it in a heartbeat and seek physicality to replace his. With that I’d sign Stralman for 2 year at about 6 million to be Dahlin’s partner. Id like to sign Ferland for under 5mil a year if he’s willing to give us the following Top 6 (assuming Skinner signs) Skinner - Eichel - Ferland RNH - Mitts - Reinhart
  15. We have no team culture to buy into where as Boston does. It all stems back to the loss of Drury and Briere and how the team as a whole never recovered. The tank in of itself was a double edged sword as it allowed us to get super talent, but jettisoned our identity. Old players from a franchise are what makes a team. What we need is a small old guard of Buffalo players, who want to play here and want to teach and help lead. Veteran stars can still support teams very well as a team retools since they were stars to start and have a level of respect and authority with every rookie that walks in the door. The pre-tank Sabres really couldn't have done that either with our sheer lack of high-end aging talent and our terrible drafting. Eerily enough, there is a small chance that had we brought Vanek and/or Stafford back with Pommers; we may have seen a better overall season. Not because they are great players anymore but because they all experienced what its like to play in Buffalo during our mid-2000's runs and that identity of "never giving up" may have rubbed off more. The problem is, Pommers is alone and we need an identity. The one thing Tim Murray tried, that was very smart, was bringing in Gionta and Gorges at the same time to be a leadership group and try to instill a culture. Problem was, Gorges' knees became shot so quickly that he went from the competent shot blocking dman to a pretender and his clout fell with it. If anything, this offseason we need to empty spots and find a combination of savvy vets and young blood to create an identity. At the moment we have a single savvy vet in Pommers, a load of youngsters, and a bunch of rift-raft who don't fall in either category. I think Berglund's departure hurt them more than we suspect. He wasn't a great player but he seemed to bring our defensive line together and had played a while. Sorry for the somewhat incoherent rant.
  16. I wish we could convince Quennville to come here and Housley to take a role as an assistant coach until a new opportunity arises. I feel Housley is likely a solid assistant but lacks the personality to play the bad cop.
  17. Worst part about this game was the Sabres didn't actually play half bad. We deserved a win over Toronto yet are 0-2-1 this year against them.
  18. He also mentioned their bad blood started with Anaheim at Babcock's start of his career. So Babcock was an ass even prior to him winning a Cup. To me a coach can be an ass to his players; but he should never take that over to staff unrelated to his position. They aren't being paid millions to put up with his attitude.
  19. 6th > nothing Also you can only hold onto so much depth. This strikes me as a favor
  20. Del Zotto also only fetched a 6th so it appears to have been the depth Dman price this year.
  21. Pittsburgh probably asked us to take Pearson hence the lesser return on Beaulieu
  22. There may still be something since Botts won't say they're done
