  1. I believe Duffer when he says its a league thing; after all in the Prospects camp stream wasn't gated. I think it has to do with their being 2 separate teams playing and the NHL can't make money......
  2. Atlantic Division Winner: Tampa Bay Metropolitan Division Winner: Washington Central Division Winner: Winnipeg Pacific Division Winner: San Jose President's Trophy: Tampa Bay Stanley Cup Champion: Tampa Bay Stanley Cup runner-up: Nashville Conn Smythe: Kucherov Calder: Mitts Jack Adams: Phil Housley (You can add the other awards, these are the ones I care about) Biggest surprise (team): Buffalo Biggest surprise (player): Lindholm (CGY) Biggest disappointment (team): Columbus/Edmonton Biggest disappointment (player): Kovulchuck Biggest name traded during season: Karlsson First coach fired: Claude Julien Bottom 3 teams: Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, NYR, NYI 1. TB 114pts 2. BUF 99pts (tiebreakers) 3. BOS 99pts WC1: TOR 98pts 1. WSH 110 pts 2. PIT 104 pts 3. PHI 102 pts WC2: CAR 95 pts TB > CAR BUF > BOS WSH > TOR PIT > PHI TB > BUF WSH > PIT TB > WSH
  3. Last year he had the Avs and Vegas at the bottom so I'm unconcerned.
  4. Faulk is just a non-physical and older Risto with a bit more offensive flair. He’s not really what we need.
  5. Very interesting, will give me things to think about. I still see Risto's potential being that of a prime Brett Seabrook; a 2/3 dman with average defensive play, good offensive numbers, physical, and someone who can fill in as a #1 in the event of injuries. He also has some pest-like qualities to him which doesn't hurt. That being said he is in desperate need of playing, at minimum, 3 fewer minutes a game. The poor guy has been literally thrown to the wolves for nearly his entire career, played like Suter where as his style of play really doesn't suit that as of this time; and then slowly grinds down as the season progresses. I honestly wish someone could teach him positioning because he'd at least play better in his own zone if he could use his size for both physicality and cutting down on lanes.
  6. I doubt since he’d be under contract versus only holding his rights
  7. Team Pringles lol That's cool that they both are back in Buffalo at the moment. I wonder why? Camp doesn't start for about three weeks to a month and Mitts is still playing in Minnesota's Da Beauty League
  8. While true that you can request one, it's a bit of a hassle. Especially if you are ordering food for a multitude of people. Though I do appreciate the landfill sentiment; the whole environment/green energy initiative causes me quite the internal struggle because I'm both a die hard conservative while also loving the green technology sector and wishing we'd do something about deforestation and such. I have 0 problems with the government preventing us from going back to 1940's standards or paying attention to the environment as a whole. I just don't want them trying to strong arm us into paying more for plastic bags, (good for diaper disposal) or trying to get companies to charge us more in result of widespread overly costly rules that are merely meant to discourage. A large company won't often be discouraged by any fines or penalties when they can merely shift it to the consumer.
  9. Plain stupid idea, straws are necessary in many cases to actually drink your drinks. Especially if your driving and don’t want to limit your vision of the road. Solar panel tech needs to achieve a higher level of price value along with the “shingle” design to truly become worth while. An investment that would take 35 years to pay itself off is worthless if the tech itself will be outdated with 4 years and equipment will be at under 80% efficiency by year 20. In the end however we can’t do a whole lot; China and India are spewing toxic fumes into the air like we did during the 1940’s and aren’t in any rush to fix that. Not to mention I’d like less government; not big brother demanding I recycle everything possible into a organized system.
  10. How I see it is, great trade, even if he is unwilling to sign here we could likely acquire at minimum a similar return at the deadline.
  11. For those with the Athletic, https://theathletic.com/442466/2018/07/27/wheeler-the-top-50-drafted-nhl-prospects-ranking-2018-edition/ For those who don't Wheeler put Dahlin at #1 and Mitts at #4; Nylander was an honorable mention around #75
  12. Most Hyped: Toronto for sure, though they will likely do only a tad better due to their D being largely the same and their goalie was riding a high last year. Biggest Flop: One of the California teams, all three are old and could easily slip and fall and break their hip. LAK would be the most egregious though based on their signings this summer. Best Team: Tampa in the East Winnipeg in the West Biggest Surprise: Buffalo and Dallas, Dallas roars back into contention on the backs of Benn and Seguin like they did a couple years back. The Sabres squeeze into the 2nd Wildcard spot thanks to a recently recalled Pominville scoring late in the 3rd of game 82.
  13. We can’t trade Hunwick but we can bury him. We could trade Beaulieu or try him on LW We could deal McCabe for a LWer We don’t need to worry about Bogo’s spot since he’ll be out 35+ games as always anyway I’d take Bieksa or Orpik on a 1 year deal just to play a bit but more so to help Dahlin
  14. I love the fact he’s on your bar league team lol He'd be a useful vet to have on a one year deal, gritty, good locker room guy and is a righty shot. I doubt his stats are great but he’s certainly the type of vet we’d want.
  15. I'm glad, doubt he'll become anything huge but I hope he can carve out a career with the Amerks and stick around after his career ends. Guy just oozes personality and genuine love for the game and even the city of Buffalo.
  16. Arizona got a couple good young players for taking Hossa’s contract. Looks like a lot but really isnt
  17. Christ that's awful. The one thing the article didn't address much is the fact that I'd imagine Jamie Thompson is likely been scarred mentally from the event as well. To inadvertently cause the near death of a friend can't be easy to get over either. Ottawa their team at least seems to have a real menacing aura hanging over them.
  18. A triplet and Callahan for SJS's 1st and Sabotka
  19. Maybe we could acquire Palat or Johnson for the higher of the St.L and SJS picks as a base. After all they will likely be hemorrhaging assets to get Karlsson and will need a 1st more than likely.
  20. He likely has had some problems in the past but I do feel he's likely maturing based on his changes in demeanor and behavior since his rookie season. Gionta was put in an unwinnable situation from the start; GMTM needed more seasoned vets to help support Gionta instead of relying on him and Gorges to effectively lead everyone. Some people gravitate to different leadership styles, and Gorges and Gionta seemed to be likely to similar to reach players who didn't mesh with their style. Legwand was likely the only player, we inadvertently acquired, who helped spread that roll out a bit. GMTM needed more Cup winners and playoff experience in the locker room, 1 Cup Ring on the captain from 12 years prior might not hold the same intrigue as a more recent winner the kids personally watched on TV. They likely respected Gionta but he was just 1 guy.
  21. Lou is helping the Leafs still for what ever reason or he's downright insane
  22. Personally, I don't hate the man, I hate the coach. He seems like a good guy, just not interested in bringing much personality to his job.
  23. That actually sounds rather awesome, it's Eichel's team now for better or worse so lets give him the reins and tell him to forget his first three years. Now its time to become great!
  24. Now we need to rid ourselves of Bealieau
