you believe people go to these games to actually watch them? I would think, especially with the Buffalo crowd, 90% are there to drink in public at an event. No One actually cares about the game going on

and with that goal he ties the amount of goals scored by all Sabres defenceman this year....... in either net you don't need a deep prospect pool when your lineup includes Crosby, Malkin and kessel plus others to go with multiple cups. They can still rebuild it before they need to replace those guys. you bring him up for a few days to fill in while you make the trade and work on getting someone else in (either trade or FA) then he can go back down

if the move is immediately followed by a long term deal it's not horrible and it improves the team now. Plus if it helps KO and MM be alot better it could be like picking up 3 players instead of just 1

I said it before, he will probably end up being more into the 'very good but not elite' category and not worth tanking seasons for. And all i heard back was that it was ridiculous and that he was elite and at the McDavid/Matthews level because of his points last season after the injury. Also never believed Sam was going to be anything great either and he would end up being more in the 'good but not great' category and not be what you need from a #2 overall pick. But the tank was well worth it, they would never have been able to get to this level without it! Guhle and Pu and others are on their way......

it's hard to say, he may be one of these guys that's looking big picture at the future and isn't going to sell assets right now to try and fix this season. Also, what do you think they are going to get for any of the active roster players? Kane might be the only one with a decent return but he is also the best one on the ice. Okposo? Moulson? Girgenson? Gorges? Reinhardt Risto and McCabe might bring some value because of age but not likely what you would want considering what they used to get them.

Why? They knew what they were getting into. And all they have to do hype up the next prospect coming out and say we are tanking again for the next great player. That will give the fan base a hard on Again to cheer for losing.... Earlier this week they had testing at the arena for prostate cancer I believe and 97 rock was there. weren't they playing sparks cause their starter was injured and he came up and impressed in his first game. They purged at the deadline and went tank then. They were talking about retooling/rebuilding before, but they didn't walk into the season with the expectations of being the worst for the #1 pick like Buffalo did. I watched many of their games and know a lot of their fans, many wanted a tank, but the front office didn't go tank until deep in the season.

IIRC, they moved Kessel before the season and still had some veterans. They didn't sell off Phaneuf and a few others until the deadline when it was obvious they would end up closer to the bottom then a playoff spot. They didn't foninto that season with the goal of being the worst team in the league, they decided to tank when the season was already halfway over.

yeah, they didnt really tank the season, they went in trting to be competitive, then started dumping their top veterans. Then they picked up one of the better executives to overaee things and the best coach available. Alot of their can be credited based more on luck then a plan. Buffalo went in with tanking being a key to the plan and it failed as they ended up with the consolation prize.

I don't know. Edmonton had a lot of young better talent, but it was all in the same position (forward) McDavid allowed them to move some of the extra talent to fill some holes, and they finally hit on a bigger missing piece, goaltender, last year. Outside of Eichel and Sam are not comparables to the top picks that Edmonton had before McDavid.

this team doesn't need more unknowns with potential. They have plenty of that. They need guys who can come in and be upgrades now. No more picks and prospects. For every name you listed, you can prob a my name 2 young players/prospects that had potential and did nothing.

i dont disagree, but i think where Darcy was hesitant to pull the trigger without being a clear winner, TM was the exact opposite where he would get too excited to get a guy he liked that he didn't care about the cost. Basically, DR would be the guy in the dealership haggling for hours to get the undercoating and tinting thrown in for free on a new car after walking away from other dealerships that wouldn't do it. TM would be the guy walking onto the dealership offering them more the the sticker price for a car he wanted just so he can get that exact one
