Sabres interested in Kevin Shattenkirk...yes or no?
apuszczalowski replied to Sabre fan's topic in The Aud Club
why? Good teams get better and continue to look to get better. This allows them to dump more dead weight and have a great player. But of course this is Buffalo and everyone's always worried about the future and money at the cost of today. Good teams worry about today and find ways to deal with what happens when it happens in the future. Talk to LA, Chicago, Detroit, Tampa, and see if they Care that they may need to dump salary now, might take you a while to focus after being blinded by their rings/cups. There is almost no contract out their that is untraceable, There a always someone willing to take a bad one On, might just cost some assetts. If Phaneuf can be traded, I'm sure there's takers for bogo or gorges -
and it's not that there's anything really wrong with that, all 8m saying is that there is no way the major majority of players will turn down more money or a better contract just for the 'c' on their jersey which is for show mostly today. Think about it this way, if you look at getting the 'c' as a promotion, how many people would want or take a promotion at work if it meant just a title and no additional money or perks? It's more likely a player and their agent would use getting a 'c' as a reason they should get more money or better term, not as a reason o accept a more team friendly deal Also, it doesn't matter how long they have been doing it for or how much money is raised, it doesn't make a cure for cancer any closer to being found. The money only helps them continue to fund research efforts to find it. I think there are very few people in the world horrible enough to be willing to fake finding a cure or advancements of a disease just so that they can continue to work finding one and collect a check. Besides, there are plenty more diseases to find cures for when they are done.......

for those of tou that are in love with him, he was just drafted by the Niagara Icedogs in the OHL import draft, so if he is sent back to juniors he will be playing in St Catharines
-
i dont think anyone cares that much about getting a 'c' on their sweater over making more money. Im sure 99% of the players in the league would take more money over a 'C'

isn't that what was rumored to be the reason why Ralph Wilson fired Bill Polian after the Bills SB years? Rumor was he called Ralphs daughter(who worked for the team) a derogatory term for female genitalia

Expansion draft and league-wide wheeling and dealing
apuszczalowski replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Who doesn't? -
there's always July 1st to add someone.....
-
that is a very radical move, I don't think teams can trade a player they already trade........Blackhawk get goaltender Forsberg from Nashville in a deals for Saad Rangers deal Stepan and Ranta to coyote for 7th pick. Coyote and Blackhawk are busy
-
how many teams are currently paying him? Isn't he still getting paid by a team to be on LTIR while working in front office jobs?
-
Your assum8ng all they will get is picks and developing prospects for him, which is true of they wait til the deadline to make a deal for him as a rental, but now is the time that hockey trades are made, so he can, and if dealt, most likely would be for a good defensemen who can step in and play now, not a pick or prospect. Losing him for nothing is not good assert management. And no one said that they can't replace Kane with another trade or through FA.

as of 8am this morning. Talk says Vegas may be flipping a few defenceman chosen last night today. Dallas and Toronto may be interested in Methot Toronto may have a deal in the works for Miller (dman chosen from Boston) Trevor VanRymsdyk may be flipped to Carolina (All from Vegas) Smart move by Vegas using the draft to pick up asserts to flip along with guys to play for you, not just picking guys for your roster this season.

Expansion draft and league-wide wheeling and dealing
apuszczalowski replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
considering Peterson has no pro experience and iirc needs to be re-signed, losing a guy who's ceiling seems to be decent 3rd/4th liner is no big deal, and I even thought losing Ullmark wasn't a huge deal either The sabres were lucky, they didn't have many great choices for Vegas to take and didn't have to give up much to help makes Vegas decision like the islanders had to. -

don't they also have to sign Peterson? -
Sabres/NHL official protected lists...here they are
apuszczalowski replied to Sabre fan's topic in The Aud Club
just looking at the list of available goalies unprotected, unless a bunch of teams have deals in place to protect a bunch of them, Ullmark wouldn't even break the top 5. Outside of Buffalo he's not a hot commodity right now, and there a re much better options then a guy who has yet to prove anything in the nhl -
Expansion Draft -- Sabres moves and speculation
apuszczalowski replied to SabresBaltimore's topic in The Aud Club
I wonder how many playersbthey actually sign in this window. Smart move would be to talk to who you want, and set things up that they sign a deal on July 1st so your not forfeiting a pick to sign a FA. I wonder if any team is going to negotiate with Vegas to maybe acquire someone on the unprotected list of someone else. Like making a deal that would have them draft someone to then flip after the draft to their team. Like a team coveting bogo or Moulson (I know, I know, just using them as an example) could swing a deal with Vegas to draft one of them and then flip them after to them -
Girardi could be a good pickup to replace Bogo and Gorges as a veteran leader. He played hard and alot of mintues for the Rangers in the playoffs this year. If you can get him on a 2-3 year deal forless then 3-4 mil, that would be a good pickup And IIRC, he lives probably 20-30 minutes away from the arena accross the river so he is 'local' being from Welland

Rumor: Buffalo Interested in Patrick Kane?
apuszczalowski replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
They also were handed Crosby and Malkin, to go with Fleury and Staal Sorry, Eichel and Sam do not = Crosby and Malkin, heck, Eichel and Sam do not = Crosby We can assume that the #8 pick gets another Rasmus, and Sam develops into a great player, but theres just as likely a chance that the #8 gets us a Stafford and Sam is another Vanek (decent player but not someone who is making you a contender). Theres not much special, or better then what others have, waiting in the wings in Buffalos pipeline thats going to put them over the top, and you can't just sit around and suck until one day all your prospects develop into good players and your a cup contender, your not going to just one day turn a switch and have a contender with only players you drafted. Some of those assetts will need to be moved in order to bring in good established talent to win now. If you can get a 100 point elite talent, for a developing decent forward and the #8 pick, thats a no brainer. -

Kane for Kane swap? Think about It, financially it would be great for both teams if they can convince them to take the others number. No need to discount and clear out the others jerseys from the store, don't have to change equipment and name tags in the arena. Cost savings all around for both owners! if it's true and jbotts isn't on the phone making a call to at least inquire, he should be fired. A player the level of Kane doesn't become available often, and almost every GM outside of maybe a couple of the top teams should be in on trying to find out what it would take to get a player of that level. Now for Buffalo you might want to do some extra due diligence before pulling the trigger because your looking at a local kid who has had some incidences when coming back home -
Expansion Draft -- Sabres moves and speculation

Pens, sadly it was in the news recently here because Leafs fans were ripping on him for posting a photo of him in a Pens jersey when he is supposed to be a Leafs fan. His response is the jersey is cool and it was a gift to him (possibly by the Pens) so he was going to wear it...... -

they may be and it's just not being reported because that player being asked isn't a big deal. Fluery was asked to waive his months ago and it just came out now -
Again, no one is saying get rid of him because of his issues/antics or to dump him for nothing. He is a FA at the end of this season, appears to be the kind of person who will be going to the highest bidder, and is most likely able to bring back the best return in a trade to help the team. It would be much easier and more affordable to trade him for a good defensemen, replacing him through FA, then try and a pick up a good defensemen in FA

Expansion Draft -- Sabres moves and speculation
apuszczalowski replied to SabresBaltimore's topic in The Aud Club
So how is this going to go down? Does the nhl have a long draft show planned where they will set up the draft board on the stage and just have Vegas logo on every spot, and give them time between teams where they come up on stage to announce their pick like they do the entry draft? Or is the league just going to have a list that gets unveiled at a certain time showing the picks? Could be funny for a bit to see the front office of the knights sitting in an almost empty arena going back and forth from their table to the stage announcing pick after pick -

From what I heard yesterday, i thought most teams were going to he asking their players with nmc or ntcs to waive them for the expansion draft. In some cases, asking guys to waive theirs can just be teams looking to keep their options open in case they get an unbelievable deal and not that they are actively looking to move the player. -
For those that keep bring up the question of why fans want to trade Kane, it's simple, in reality/real life, you have to give up something of value to get something of value. So if you want to upgrade the defence, without grossly overpaying in FA for one of the top guys, you are going to have to trade something of value which is either going to be a good NHL ready player, a high draft pick, or a top rated prospect. Since no one wants to give up picks or prospects on a team still building that had to go through hell to get them, the next move is to look at trading a very good forward who's contract is expiring and has not shown a willingness to re-sign here without testing FA first and getting the highest deal. I don't think there's anyone here looking to get rid of Kane just because, but here in reality, your not getting anything decent trading Moulson. But you should get a great return giving up a Kane
