  1. What's incredible about Vegas is most of their roster and top players were guys that were given away, and some their previous team actually paid Vegas to take. Then throw in their coach had been fired and not even given a ride home after being fired while on the road. They are basically the team of misfit players.
  2. Leafs only wanted Lou for 3 years to get them on track, seems Lou wanted to stay but they said no. Then they had to choose Dubas or Hunter because hunter wasn't staying if he was passed over for Dubas. From what I have read, I think theres issues with Shanny and that their coach has issues with control too. It was said Lou was good at keeping him under control. This is going to be interesting to see I TO, this could end up a huge mess if Dubas is in over his head. As for the Isles, they appear to be doing something right and getting a guy in who can build a front office and team. Would be surprised to see Snow gone soon after the draft. Lous son is an assistant there I believe and he could get the job with his dad helping or they could get Hunter. This is a team that could get turned around soon.
  3. If I had a choice, I would go after one of the Caps goalies. Otherwise if Rinne is available he could be a good choice to come in and make Ullmark the backup if they want to try and win next year. If they view next year as another building year and not looking to win, ullmark and maybe someone like Bernier in a 1A/1B situation.
  4. this is the same team that kept Marleau and Thorton year after year as their top players. Kane is an infant compared to them.... theres your problem, they haven't been able to get ahold of him cause Kane keeps picking up the wrong phone
  5. something seems fishy in Toronto. Heard some talk on radio last week from TO about this. Heard they will probably have them promoting from within and it may cause them to lose a few assistants. Also sounds like there may be issues with Babcock and they say he likes to run things, apparently Lou was good at keeping him under control. Could see some fireworks in TO in the next couple years, and they won't be during any Stanley cup parades...
  6. Is this another Buffalo team cornering the market on players with the same name? Bills had Williams, Sabres get all the Rasums'?
  7. Lets pump the breaks a little bit here, even after "winning" Eichel, they still are coming in last. They still need ALOT more to get back to being mediocre Unless the league allows TP to build a new science lab at the arena that would have the best scientists working 24-7 to clone Dahlin 5 more times.........
  8. if there is one superstar FA that could shock everyone and give the Sabres a sweepstakes win, it Tavares. His uncle was a well known icon here and could be a recruiter to get him here if he enjoyed being here.
  9. Matthew's only score 1 goal and 1 assist more then I did in the playoffs this year, all while playing in 7 more games then me......
  10. that was $1.2m Canadian though. For our American friends I think that converts over to like $150?
  11. No one pushed for Kane to be moved because of his attitude or cause they wanted him moved, they pushed for it because it was widely believed the Sabres would be re-signing him and since he was becoming a UFA and the season was over in October, they pushed for him to be moved cause they thought he would get a nice return for an expiring contract. As for O'Reilly, He was being honest (which is usually what people want until they actually say something honest) and really who could blame him? The culture around this team is widely known as being one that accepts losing (a few players have said that the culture needs to change and no longer accept losing). New coach and GM come in and they get worse, with few moves made to try and improve the team all year, instead hearing how they just have to wait for players to develop and come up from the minors, or win the draft lottery, always hearing about next year or the year after. Players know their time in the league is limited and constantly playing for nothing can take its toll on you. He put up good numbers, some great for this team, but it meant nothing because they weren't a good team. He may need a change of scenery like Kessel and get out of a place like Buffalo where we can all watch him succeed and win in a culture that wins. Except unlike the Leafs, the Sabres prospect pool isn't as deep with higher end talent, and doesn't have an elite superstar player and one of the best Headcoach and front office guys coming over to run things.
  12. Will they raise a banner next year as the first team to ever finish 31st?
  13. Yup, the pure hatred of Brandon in Buffalo is because people think he is meddling in everything because for a few seasons he was named as the GM for the Bills But he is doing exactly what he should be doing (fixing the fan experience and keeping people buying tickets) and has actually been doing a great job with both teams considering ticket sales havent been an issue for either team even though they haven't been big winners. But as many have said, the best way to make the fans experience better and continue selling tickets is to fix the team and win hockey games, then no one cares if the arena is a dump...... As for the comments about vegas, kinda sad that an expansion team is now being used as a potential model on how to improve your teams fan entertainment/interest.....
  14. As I added, yeah, this is much better knowing they are out by thanksgiving then atleast being able to watch meaningful games into the new year..........
  15. To be fair, Calgary wasn't horrible last season and were expected to be a playoff team this year, but yeah, that would look horrible on them. Just imagine being the Islanders who could then, have a chance at having the #1 & #2 picks in the draft this year? (similar to the NFL Browns having #1 & #4 this year) Might be wise if that happens to use those picks to trade to a team for a better GM You would figure an ex-goalie would have done something to save their season by fixing the blackhole they had in net all year......
  16. Hes not even close to the worst, but he isn't good. But then again, who has been good in St louis? Just say no to Allen(s) in Buffalo? can that replace the OneBuffalo slogan?
  17. This franchise deserves to be the first NHL team to ever finish 31st in the standings The also deserve to miss out on winning the lottery for intentionally tanking and putting themselves into this mess They deserve the Boos and the quiet emptying arena Terry was right when he said if he needed money he would just drill another well, except he forgot to mention that the well was sabres fans who were willing to spend money on tickets and merchandise over the years. Atleast they aren't finishing in 8th and losing in the first round or just barely missing the playoffs anymore like everyone hated so much Its much nicer knowing the season is over by Thanksgiving now so better uses can be found for your time instead of watching games that might mean something into the new year...
  18. IIRC he was signing photos of it some time afterwards....
  19. Guaranteed Sabres win tonight Just like the Leafs game I picked against the Sabres........
  20. Goaltending tip for Freddie, worry about stopping the pick instead of trying to draw an interference call. He was too busy trying to get into it with Larson then facing the shot. You have a player there to clear the guy out of the way, if he doesn't then at least it didn't go in because you weren't in position for it
  21. I would say that it might be best for Buffalo if the Sabres were detained at the border and not allowed to come back home but Canada will make sure they cross the borser to come back home. Canada doesn't want (or need) your garbage.......
  22. the greatest fans from Hockey heaven need a way to pay for their season tickets, and now that the Leafs are back to being good selling those games pays for them........
  23. Everyone confuse (or associates) being bad or rebuilding as tanking. Teams are bad, and those teams usually sell off assetts to help rebuild, but today thats always called tanking Tanking is when a team goes into the season without intending to compete and intentionally tries to be the worst in order to obtain the #1 overall pick. The Pens being in poor financial position and selling off assetts to avoid bankruptcy does not mean they were tanking, and as you said, no one tanked for Crosby because it wasn't possible since the lockout occured that year.
  24. They were so bad they made the playoffs in 2013 and were an epic 3rd period collapse away from knocking out the Bruins......... Theres nothing wrong with speeding up a rebuild and using picks to obtain good players The problem is that they lost out on the reason for the Tank (McDavid), and TMs drafts weren't able to obtain anything of real value. The prospects he drafted (along with most he traded away) really aren't all that awe inspiring or special TMs biggest problem, was that he didn't know how to trade from a position of power. When he saw something shiney he gave whatever they wanted to get it. Lehner was no where near worth a 1st, Ottawa was in a position where they needed to move someone. He should have been able to obtain what he did in the Kane trade for half of what he gave up. The entire NHL knew kane was done in Winnepeg and the Sabres were the only team that would take him of their hands while he was out for the remainder of the season. O'Reilly was also known to be out in Colorado, but that deal was atleast a little closer to being a reasonable deal. He overpaid for FAs (although that may have had more to do with getting them to Buffalo) and failed to really obtain any diamonds in the rough. And in poor coaching hires and its why they are in the mess they are in.
  25. From this team? Well they are playing the Great McElhenney....... probably just trying to stand in the way of where the shot is going......
