  1. so like most of the sports networks here then? Although living in this area I may be biased, I believe sportsnet and tsn have local broadcasts and broadcasters depending on your area that would be biased towards the local team.
  2. The message it sends is that the NHL is a business and it's the same as any other team here in that players may be moved if it helps the team. You do what you have to do to make your team better.
  3. so he is a typical Leafs fan? if you posted that on Twitter it would qualify you to be an NHL insider!
  4. You want to tell people that they aren't allowed to put someone on ignore if they want to if it's not for an approved reason? Also I thought it was the liberal Obama/Hillary supporters that were supposed to be the sensitive hurt snowflakes, a Trump supporter is hurt that people put them on ignore because of it so he tells on them for not sharing and being Nice? Lol
  5. There will be plenty of guys on waivers after today to help fill the roster with bodies. It will be ok if we don't get some of the guys on their today
  6. exactly, its not a race issue, he has a reputation because of things he did in the past and that may follow him his entire career. What we know is just what leaks out or is reported, its possible that there's more to it or that it's all BS. But at this time, GMs are going to be hesitant taking a risk on him and giving up assetts if therea a chance that the move could disrupt the lockerroom As for the comparisons to the other Kane, one is considered and elite talent, the other just a good to really good player. You may be willing to put up with more because the talent level is elite then for someone who is good/really good. If Evander played as well as Patrick, there would be a higher demand even with the off ice issues (and his issues seem to be more off ice stuff then lockerroom/on ice issues). Evander has had some issues with both
  7. I don't have an issue if it means they are re-signing him instead Only reason to move him is if he isn't coming back next season
  8. theres a difference between tanking and rebuilding, although today it seems there isn't one. Tanking involves dumping talent for picks and prospects with no intention of fielding a winning team in order to get the best draft pick. Usually this starts in the offseason and the teams go into the year expecting to lose Rebuilding involves selling off talent for picks and prospects which can be done at the deadline but teams will usually in the offseason still try and put a competitive team on the ice Retooling is when teams dump talent for prospects/picks, but instead of relying on those picks and prospects to build for the future, they use some of those assetts to obtain other talent to speed up the rebuild process. many will say Ottawa is a team tanking, but thats more of a rebuild/retooling as they went into the year intending to compete and started making moves when they found out their window was closing. They didn't go into the year expecting to be in the lottery for the #1 pick I also don't believe its the lottery that has pushed tanking, its more the salary cap and teams finances. There are many teams that are struggling to break even and can't afford to spend big money so they need the draft for cheap high end talent and stay away from FA. Some are also in markets that arent as appealing and have to overpay for FAs. The salary cap is also putting lots of restraints on teams if they make a bad signing or two. A couple bad signings and your in cap jail which can involve having to dump players and take cap hits that involve needing talent at low salaries (like rookie deals)
  9. Detroit? Didn't they just miss the playoffs for the first time in over 20 years? haven't they been one of the most consistent and model franchises for those years? I wouldn't use them as an example. The issue with Ottawa and Florida was the same as its been for Arizona and Sabres before TP, Financial resources have held these franchises back. They don't have the money to spend on the better players and often have to move very good players when their contracts become too big. Vancouver has had some poor management, and they have tried a few times to extend their window but their stars are too old and just started "rebuilding"
  10. they also drafted some decent players to give them the core they had..........
  11. Thorburn & Stewart?
  12. I think the problem with some of these players not from North America is that they always have it in the back of their mind that if it doesn't work out in the NHL, they can always go back home and play and make decent money. they come over, give it a shot and if it doesn't work, they are back home to play where they may find it much easier
  13. And have a pretty good chance to play for a cup again (they have been listed as the favorites from the East a few times)
  14. philly isn't taking Lehner, they already got Mrazek and both their other goalies will be back
  15. Prediction, Alot of angry and disappointed Sabres fans calling into WGR over their displeasure of what they got in return for kane
  16. Exactly....... We all know he is being moved before the deadline, exactly when and where is the question
  17. Also not considered a veteran leader type and has had a reputation of being a bit of a cancer in the lockerroom and party boy.......
  18. i though adding in Myers was an overpayment since Kane was being run out of Winnepeg and Buffalo was the only team willing to take him injured that season Myers shouls have been retained and dealt in a separate deal
  19. Read that too, they got involved in order to block a trade to a western conference team, so they stepped in to help Pittsburgh to keep him in the East.
  20. He should contact TSN and see if they need another analyst for the afternoon, the loopy talk/posts could get humorous and might be better then the usual that they do with the guy posting from home what he is doing all day.....
  21. Without TM being a GM anywhere, I doubt much....... I really doubt anymore then what Detroit got
  22. I gave up really caring years ago when they decided to Tank. Can't get angry or even care much that they loss. The only time I get emotionally into it is when I picked them and they lose or I picked against them and they actually show up. I haven't been to a game in years (Hasek number retirement game may have been the last I think) I came close to getting Centre ice this year and now am really glad I didn't as I hardly even watch them when they are on for free here. Its just not worth the emotional time and effort anymore, players are uninterested, coaches can't seem to figure things out, GM and front office want to take their time to "evaluate" everyone
  23. Shake ups are needed, badly with this team, but maybe not so much by Botterill but by Housley.... If I was him, I would move the 4th line up to the 1st line and give them the bulk of the ice time over the 1st line for a game or 2. If these guys get embarassed getting less ice time then a Nolan or Larson or bring up some Amerks, I would tell them that I (Housley) don't like being embarrassed by them giving little effort If it works, great, if it doesn't work, you still lose and you still look like crap, but atleast you tried. Housley really has nothing to lose at this point If all else fails, put Sabretooth in net, from what I saw of some vide during the first intermission, he can't be any worse then Lehner in OT/SO...............
  24. The only thing thats changed now is there more names available now then there was then as teams have made the decisions to become sellers closer to the deadline (Rangers, Sens, etc.) The Sabres have been sellers since thanksgiving (maybe even Canadian Thanksgiving), the Sens and Rangers have officially become one closer to the deadline. Now you have guys like Nash entering into the equation for teams who may have been interested in Kane, teams are hesitant with Kane because of his past reputation of being bad in the locker room. They will not, nor were ever going to get asking price for Kane, not with his reputation and upcoming UFA status. Either the Sabres should be looking to lower the asking price or start working on an extension.
