I've read through most of the thread as to cause and effect and I'm pretty sure I've not read anything about regime change. That is where all of this mess started innit ? First to oust a despot in Saddam and then with the urging of Israel to oust another despot in Assad. My gov't is of course complicit in this being an ally but at some point we have to look at ourselves and wonder if all the death and destruction and subsequent ' terror ' that this has caused was really worth it to get rid of two rulers that although ruled with an iron fist ruled countries that had order and relative calm compared to the bombed out shells they've become. There were human rights abuses but one only has to look at our biggest partner in the gulf in Saudi Arabia to see the worst offender. In the case of Assads country it was always secular according to my wife who travelled through the m.e. in the eighties/early nineties. In many ways not unlike Turkey which has a large secular population as well. Anyways we always seem to find a reason to go in and change leaders or make things better but for who ? Certainly not for the people of these countries. Millions dead and displaced would tell you otherwise.

If its a false report my bad. I can't help but wonder with all the ' rumours ' coming from various countries that there might be something to this. If true you'd think the groups doing it would continue to pooh pooh it. It certainly almost made me chock on my oatmeal this a.m.

Helping the young people of the middle east by showing them there is a better life and assimilating them is all fine and good but what do you do with the ones already among us ? The ones that have grown up here and are still disenfranchised, marginalized, and in many cases ripe to be recruited or in some cases already have been recruited by the radical imams ? I've watched video out of England where gangs of radicalized worshippers control whole areas of London with strongarm tactics and worse. God forbid you be white and accidently go into these areas. I believe in helping these legitimate refugees like we always have with the Irish, the Scots, the Vietnamese, too many cultures to list really but many of them never actually assimilate. I've used taxi in Vancouver where the driver can't speak english. I know 2nd generation immigrants whose parents still can't speak english. That isn't assimilation. One of the terrorists in Paris is said to be a French national. Born and raised. How did things get so bad for this cat ? Part of the problem is parents who indoctrinate their children and teach their child to never question why when it comes to the faith. From what I've seen that goes for most faiths.

Yes I saw the news when it happened. But in general our news is filtered. I also try to follow other types of news feeds to get some other perspectives. One of my faves is the anti media. Its interesting and informative.

Lets face it. The western media doesn't give us all of the news. They feed us what they want.

Isis has released a statement that Rome, London and Washington are next. Their wording something to the effect , we've unleashed a storm . Not sure if people remember or are aware but in September isis said it would unleash an army of 50 000 soldiers into Europe to act as sleeper cells. October/November roll around and the refugee crisis out of the middle east was in full effect. Estimates are that they have anywhere from 7000 to 15 000 members. It would be hard to pin the actual number down. Thoughts ? What are the estimates of the number of refugees ? If 1 out of 10 or even 1 out of 100 were radicalized what would that put the number of soldiers moving into Europe at ? If the Paris attack only required 5-6 guys.. Apparently the Rome ,London Washington threat was actually from a twitter account thought to be from isis or used by isis in the past so take it with a grain of salt i suppose.

well the U.N.( of which the U.S. was a member ) gave palestine to the jews. It was held by the British since the breakup of the Ottoman empire until that time. The Brits wrote the Balfour mandate ( sometime pre 1920 i think ) which was a plan to hand over the land to the Jewish people. Most say Britain gave the land since they technically held it until the handover. Also you did have a massive military presence in the middle east in the kingdom of Oman before the gulf war. But technically you didn't create Israel. Had a hand in sure.
