    I show the utmost respect despite the ignorance I've sometimes dealt with when dealing with the police. The reason is simple. I don't want my head busted, or to be unnecessarily tazed or sprayed. I've seen it happen numerous times and at times it was criminal. The violence was not warranted on the part of the officers. That being said I've managed to stay on the good side of the men in blue and like I said its yes sir no sir for me. But I generally avoid them at all costs. Don't want to die in a hail of bullets because some wanna be can't think critically and has an itchy trigger finger. No disrespect to you Sabresince70.

    I didn't vote for Harpers gov't when he came into power but I surely helped to vote him out. This is a topic( bill c51 ) near and dear to my heart. Its crazy this got pushed through. I also didn't vote for Trudeau for that very reason. In the most recent election my guy never got in but my vote was important if that makes sense. I am hopeful for young Trudeau but they all become corporate stooges at some point.

    okay dokey. Before Harper was booted out of office here in Canadeh he pushed through something called bill c51. Its pages long but one of the new powers he's given to the police is the ability to come into your house without a warrant. France just gave their police the same powers among other things a day after the Paris attack. In Canada if you protest on a streetcorner against ...mmmm maybe an oil corporation for environmental concerns you can be labelled a terrorist and thrown in jail without legal council indefinately. They make no distinction between eco terrorist or plain old terrorist with jihadist beliefs. Thats another beaut from bill c51. Among many more too varied to list. This isn't about just laws. This is about pushing through draconian tyrannical laws that chip away at basic human rights and freedoms in the name of security and every country is doing it. My opinion mind you but its hard to deny where its all leading.

    They'll keep chipping away at our freedoms because they've found a way that works. Create fear and in the ensuing panic enact more laws that take away rights and freedoms. The sheeple will run to the gov't for protection as the gov't looks to herd us into a smaller corner. Between attacks that shake us to our boots they'll keep us occupied with the Kardashians or American idol. Today Britain started dropping bombs on Syria. Is there anything left to actually bomb in Syria ? WW III anyone ?

    The fan voting system is flawed. Apparently Zemgus has requested his fans back home don't vote him in this year because its something he feels you have to earn. I agree with him. OOps sorry. Never realized a thread covering this had started. :blush:

    The romance of hockey for me was carrying my skates and gloves and a bundle of dry firewood up to Scout lake just above Gold River where I grew up. Clearing the lake of snow with an old chunk of plywood if there was fresh snow and if we were lucky the ice was like glass if the freeze came before the snow did. Playing hockey till it got too dark to continue and cooking the freeze out of our toes and fingers by the fire afterwards. We never had video games to steal moments that we invented as kids simply cause there wasn't something to do that took less effort . Of course those were simpler times. No telling what I'd have missed if my parents were the type to let us laze around the house. On another note that this topic reminds me of is that old joke about french Canadians favourite sexual ( romantic ;) ) position being doggy style so they can both watch the hockey game.

    Preview/prologue, it was about 2 min. long on talking dead.

    It gets good when this show picks up in feb. Showed the preview and its basically an introduction to Negan. Darryl, abraham and sasha run into a gang of bikers working for this new evil dude from the comics. I'm psyched but it seems I'm one of the few around here who still likes the show. Better call Saul starts again feb.15 so there is that.
