Who makes the playoffs first; Buffalo or Las Vegas?
BMWR100RT replied to Claude Balls's topic in The Aud Club
I'm in the "because Buffalo" camp. Vegas baby! Hope I'm wrong. -
Was this the hardest season for the fans in Sabres history?
BMWR100RT replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I'm 55. I was 10 when the Sabres came to be. First game was the "Fog Game". Look at posts for details. Watched or listened to every game for all but the college years and the years I couldn't tune them into my AM radio at night when I listened from Westchester county. Moved into my current house when the Dallas thing happened.....had to go to a bar and watch because we couldn't afford cable. Went to a playoff game in every series since Philadelphia in 76. But this was by far the worst. For a few reasons.....lost my Dad who took me to my first game back in the aud and the thought that I could be like my mom and uncle and him who just watched ten years of bad hockey and then........ Took my kids to three games. No atmosphere. Lifeless play. Stupid turnovers. Ineffective coaching. And just a bad game experience. I tried to talk it up, try to make the kids feel what a real hockey experience could be like. Realization that they will probably never catch hockey fever watching this crap. I feel like a failure as a hockey dad. -
THANK YOU, FANS! THANK YOU, FANS! THANK YO... eh, not really

Great Post. I take my kids to a game each year. It's not the same. They are fans because I'm a fan. No connection. When Jerry Korab gave me a stick at the old aud I was a fan forever. -
This.

I tore the window clings off m car last night I was so p%*(d. Yes it was a childish outburst I'm not proud of. But I hate Toronto and to see all those smug fans in our seats falls on ownership. I'd sell my tickets too rather than watch this misery. I'm still a fan, but I'm embarrassed about the state of the team and "suffering". I got texts last night from my die hard Ranger, Flyers and Sens friends after the 3-0 beat down start. How many years can this go on? I took my kids to losses this year and the energy level was so low. Blaming that on anything other than dysfunction is myopic. To me it falls on ownership, GM and coach. Until Bylsma is gone and possibly Murray, I'll not be advertising this team and "suffering" on anyone by flouting my gear.

Is there video of Crosby's nut shot?

I'm having a Monday......thanks for making it worse.

Watching this right now. It is unfair, but the Sabres will wait. (With any luck they will get better). I lost my mother suddenly when she was 67. Not a day goes buy that I don't go to reach for my phone to call her and then remember.........and yeah "your mom IS your mom" Seeing your appreciation of the beauty of your surroundings and watching this video makes me want to buy you a beer and watch a Sabres game together. There will be time for that........

The joy hockey can bring when its up tempo like these last two games. I couldn't stop singing my version with modified lyrics. Eichel Eichel all day!

This. Perfectly said.

Liberal. Defining how you get there. Here goes. I was in Catholic school and we were learning about other religions. Over the weekend some Jehovah's Witness folk showed up at home and told me I could be a "Chosen person". Based on my newfound knowledge of religion and geography I asked what would happen to people on the other side of the world who didn't have them show up in their driveway? Were they damned? The answer I got was a pause and then "Yes". It was at that point it dawned on me that humans are flawed. Bias takes over and you look for any evidence to support your views. As I got older probably my bias towards looking for examples of this behavior (I survived the Reagan Moral Majority years) led me to observe this over and over. Meanwhile I was experiencing different cultures while I lived in NYC. I'd come home and some of the narrow minded folk would say "How do you live in that cesspool?". Talk about biased with no information! So what I believe leads people down the road of liberalism is observation and reflection. One of my staunch conservative friends had a child born prematurely with severe developmental disabilities and needs major help from county services. He went from a Limbaugh "ditto head" to someone who is growing up. Awesome to see his growth in spite of the circumstances. It was his situation that snapped him out of his bias. I think the media is privy to that "constant look at things from the other side" that leads them to be "liberal". Being liberal to me just means you can put yourself in someone else shoes. Unfortunately, journalism as an income has pushed extreme left and right bias and those who chose to support their own bias get what they want.

Thanks for a great commentary during this race to all. I appreciate the high road most everybody took regardless of your position. Took my 18 year old daughter to vote for her first time. Saw two things of interest. Guy with a "Grab America by the P#SSY" hat (looked like a clone of Make America Great Hat) and an elderly woman declare she had waited all her life to vote for a woman and she didn't need the cover for her ballot. Pretty crazy day. Anyway, enjoy this: https://www.facebook.com/News8WROC/videos/10155359367104386/ Take Care All.

I was guessing that is what you meant. One of the great sports moments watching with my two sons. And you are right about Deslauriers.

"All Star fiasco" - Ha!.......Matter of perspective. Some of my favorite Sabres played every game like it was going to be their last (see Adam Mair, Patrick Kaleta, etc.) with marginal NHL talent. John should be proud of his career and I hope he does wind up in a broadcast booth.

Game discussion thread GDT: Toronto at Buffalo, 7:00 PM ET, 11/03/2016

I felt this way as well. A few lapses, but the dominant team IMHO. Time to put on my sunglasses the future is so bright..... -
Had that exact bike. I modified it heavy eventually putting 10 speed handlebars on it. Thanks for posting. Haven't thought of it in years. My mind is over 50.

I enjoy this thread immensely. But for the record, the GOP lost it's way when Jerry Falwell and the Moral Majority got Reagan into the white house http://www.salon.com/2014/02/22/reagans_christian_revolt_how_conservatives_hijacked_american_religion/. The contract with America was just the next level. Between "Trickle-down", ignoring the AIDS epidemic, "Star Wars", its my opinion no other president had as big an effect on our government. I lived through it and it was a dramatic change for the worse. I spit on the ground when I hear his name. (well....mentally anyway).

Fantastic. Concise writing that puts you right there. Josie, you have a way of writing that just entertains. I hope a better situation for you still offers enough weirdness for you to write about.

I drop in every couple of weeks to see what you kids are up too.....always entertaining. Seeing so much sadness makes me sad. I'm sorry and I wish you all some smiles. My complaints seem silly.
-
Hoss....thanks. Sorry for you. I know I'm gonna cry every time and I watch it anyway. Penny, Jane, Mom, Dave........you are all still alive.

Is it OK to just proclaim "no cell phones" because that was the thing that best makes my youth better than today's. "Get off my lawn" indeed!

Come of age in the Schony era. I wanted to grow up and be just like him. Even had that hair style in HS.

I'll add that I like him simply because he isn't Darcy. Apparently his fax machine works.

Can I say that I was having a crappy day and this and the comment that inspired it made me laugh out loud. Well done and especially thank you.
