Early Allmans? Mostly straight-ahead blues band who happened to have southern roots. They were a different breed than Marshall Tucker Band, Outlaws, and ARS, which I (and probably most) consider among the pioneer Southern Rock bands

They are medium to full bodied, and very smooth. I'd compare them favorably to Fuente Don Carlos and Rocky Patel Decade toros, two of my other favorites. I'd give more complete tasting notes, but I'm afraid I don't have your flair for descriptive terms, nor can I discern subtle nuances ;) However, I am able to say that a smoke is more than a smoke if it's not an El Stinko!

Good time to bring back this thread - the porch/ patio/ deck cigar smoking season is here (although cold rainy spring here in NH) Got my hands on a box of CAO Amazon Basin and if you ever see these, grab some. They're rare as heck but among the best smokes I've ever had. The box insert says it all: "CAO Amazon Basin utilizes rare organic tobacco cultivated at small farms in remote regions of the Amazonian rainforest. The tobacco, called 'Braganca', is grown in virgin lands and harvested just once every three years. No artificial chemicals or fertilizers are used. Instead, the leaves are rolled by hand into tubes called 'carottes' and left to rest under high pressure. After six months of natural fermentation inside the carottes, they are transported by canoe from the rainforest and delivered to our factory. Our cigar masters created a blend that maximizes the rare flavor of the Braganca. I have to rank these right up there with Padron Serie 1926 as special cigars, which I'll savor each and every time I have one. Thanks for sharing the videos! Greg led a full and colorful life - still cannot understand the Cher thing - may he R.I.P. Duane was one of a kind, and in my opinion, impossible to replace. Nevertheless, kudos to them for bringing in Warren then Derek to keep the band moving forward while giving full props to the legacy. Dickey Betts lost my respect for liking to hit his women. Great band, who bring back great memories for me of a very fun and formative stage of my life. Makes me smile to think about the mid to late 70's...

Totally agree with what you said, and I'll take it one further. No, it's not Langway's NHL. It's Erik Karlsson's!! And he's a very worthy successor to Lidstrom. He's become elite by stepping up his defensive end work to nearly the same level as his offense. Definitely not physical, but superb positioning and shot blocking. It also helps to be able to skate like the wind! Risto is a different type of player obviously. Can he become elite? Fun to imagine...

This had me really wondering for a second - in my world NICU means Neonatal ICU! As I believe has already been mentioned, the well being of public figures is of interest to all of us. However, personal health issues are much different than injuries sustained on-ice, and privacy (or some would say, secrecy) is owed him. Kudos, as it appears all of the posters have been respectful of this point! Best wishes to KO for a full recovery!

Wow...just wow! So glad I stayed up and watched the NHL Network Bonus Coverage. Got to see the whole third period. I don't get to watch them often, but follow their travails regularly right here on SS. Some observations: 1. I don't recall a single check completed by a Sabres player in that period. 2. Reaching, poking, passing to opposing players doesn't get the puck out of your own end 3. They were still in Alamo mode and sagging back even AFTER Arizona tied the game. 4. I've never seen a team so bad at finishing their chances - they made the AZ scrub goalie look good 5. Either Bylsma's "system" sux or they've totally quit on him. Oh, wait, it's BOTH! 6. Sabres played that period like they were in a no-check beer league Until they have a new coach and some significant roster changes, the only reason I can fathom to watch them is the same one that makes us rubber neck at accident scenes.

And what did the Preds give up to get him?

I saw the Canucks play in Boston yesterday. They'd have won, or at least gone to OT, but for two very soft goals given up by Ryan Miller. Too bad he's not playing tonight! He is far from an elite goalie any more - kind of sad to see. A couple of observations from that game: - Brandon Sutter is a stud. Strong on the puck and very heady - Bo Horvat is the real deal - The Sedins are still sublime - Canucks power play was awful; totally out of sync, and it had nothing to do with the Bruins' PK - Chris Tanev- meh. I don't understand all the calls to trade for him. Not physical and not a puck mover. He looked like JAG. To me, not worth giving up a lot for him. Go Sabres! Gotta beat your 1970 sibling franchise
