  1. He was with the Pittsburgh Steelers for ten years prior to his time here, during which they won two Super Bowls
  2. "Bills Banter (Other thoughts on the Bills' 2013 draft class): The days following the draft are especially enlightening because scouts are more willing to share their unbiased opinions on drafted players. The selection of Manuel has been criticized and certainly surprised many (including me) who theorized head coach Doug Marrone and offensive coordinator Nate Hackett would stick with who they knew and draft Ryan Nassib, the passer they'd worked with at Syracuse. The perception by many is that the Bills' selection of Manuel at No. 16 overall was a reach. Representatives from multiple teams have told me, however, that they saw the former Florida State star as the top quarterback in the 2013 draft class. One highly placed source for a team other than the Bills said Manuel was the best "by a wide margin." It is easy to understand why. Dual-threat quarterbacks took the league by storm last year and Manuel possesses an intoxicating combination of physical traits to go along with toughness and intelligence." http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/blog/rob-rang/22203399/finding-the-fits-alonso-could-star-as-qb-of-bills-defense
  3. *since joining the NFL 1960 Richie Lucas, QB, Penn State
  4. and some guy from Michigan, he's been pretty good. :) If they feel like there is a guy who has an opportunity to be a solid NFL QB they can't afford to get cute and worry about moving back and getting him later, they are in such a terrible position that they need to make certain that they get him.
  5. Agreed, same with Weber in 07-08
  6. Didn't it have something to do with arbitration giving him a one way deal, while the Sabres wanted a two way deal?
  7. I assume the idea is that you're getting Bernier in return for Vanek to replace Miller, who is traded in a seperate transaction.
  8. I guess it would depend on which problems they feel the media is a source of. If they truly believe the media is a source of their problem with winning games that's an issue. I have a hard time believing they think that.
  9. I think that's just him having fun with guessing what teams would be on the list, or at least what teams would be on Schopp's list. Not that he knows what teams are on Pominville's list.
  10. They've only got 5 Dmen on the roster, Pardy has to come up or another move is on the way.
  11. Can't imagine, he's a UFA at the end of the year.
  12. One of the seconds is conditional, which doesn't seem likely.
  13. 5th turns into a 4th if the Blues win a playoff series
  14. I think they're point was a decent one. The team is near the bottom of the league with Miller on it, he's only signed through next season, and he's one of the only players that they can receive good future value for in my opinion. If they know Miller wants to resign with the team for the remainder of his career at the beginning of next season then maybe I consider keeping him, but if I'm getting good future value for a guy who would just be part of another losing season next year and then gone for nothing isn't it better to trade him now while he still holds value? I assume a goalie would have to come back from somewhere to pair with Enroth for the remainder of the season. Perhaps they then sign someone in the offseason? (Luongo or Bryzgalov are both buyout candidates) Pro-rated contracts that end at the end of the season.
  15. Thornton's only signed through next year so it would be a short term move unless you can resign him. He also has a no movement clause, which might make acquiring him difficult for a team in the Sabres position. http://www.capgeek.com/player/103
  16. But much lower on their overall prospect rankings (Grigorenko at 17 Toffoli at 45). Overall i agree with you but am not sure Grigorenko is the proper comparison, Armia perhaps?
  17. Per Bob McKenzie's twitter: "I missed this when BUF sent Grigorenko to QMJHL. Had he played 1 more NHL game (23rd), season would have counted towards free agency." "In full NHL season, 40 GP counts as "year's service" toward 7 req'd for UFA status. In lockout shortened season, it's 23. Grigs played 22." "So while Grigorenko burned 1st year of entry level deal by playing 6 games, this season doesn't count towards service time req'd for UFA." "Thanks to a wise man, @CraigJButton, for edu-macating me and anyone else who was asleep at the wheel on that one. Explains BUF's timing." https://www.twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie
  18. They're paying Bonilla until 2035, Bret Saberhagen is still in their payroll as well.
  19. Age restriction is applied only during their season, he can come to Rochester after Quebec's season is over. Darcy mentioned it during his press conference.
  20. Him going to Rochester may partially be the reason for the move. Keep him from hitting his 23rd game, get him back into the conditioning level of 20 mins a game, and after Quebec's season is over he can go to Rochester and finish the season with them, which is where he needs to be.
  21. Sabres are ready to "blow it up": http://www.ottawasun.com/2013/03/16/buffalo-sabres-looking-to-make-moves-prior-to-nhl-trade-deadline
  22. What is the importance of the 23 games mark?
  23. Would it be at all comparable to St. Louis trading Johnson?
  24. They get $7M of relief this year, as they put off a portion of the hit into next year. "The cap hit for Fitzpatrick in 2013 will not be the full $10 million, because the Bills are using the post-June 1 waiver designation. That means Fitzpatrick will account for $3 million on this year's cap, and $7 million on the 2014 salary cap."http://www.wgr550.com/pages/15779764.php?contentType=4&contentId=12593261 Unless his DB play greatly improves I doubt he sees the third and fourth years of that contract.
