    There were only 18 NHL teams in 1977 when Bossy was drafted. Fun fact: The Sabres picked 14th that year and chose Ric Seiling. The Islanders picked 15th and took Bossy.

    We say this like draft prospects neatly fall in relation to their potential. #16 could well define our future, as could #10 or #32.

    Team #16 has to be out west or else they will have a real headache creating divisions. It'll be hard if they try to do 3 divisions of 5. Some team will be the oddball.

    Actually LV makes 15 so there's room for one more. I was hoping they would revive the New England franchise. Manchester, NH has an empty 10K arena since the Monarchs left.

    The team’s ownership group includes Wayne Gretzky, Dustin Johnson, Steve Nash and Joe Tsai...the same Joe Tsai we were speculating was buying all or part of the Sabres.

    The arena condition has been overblown by Vogl and Harrington.

    Missing a huge chunk of the season will do that. Same with Mittelstadt. Next year will tell the tale for both players.

    The months of November, December, January and February were a black hole for the Sabres. In that span they were there worst team in the NHL. But in October, March and April they played at a 108-point pace.
