  1. Want ads used to be a cash cow for papers. Craiglist, etc. did away with that.
  2. What I want to know is MSG sending live crews to road games?
  3. Wouldn't it be easier, and you'd get a better result, by building a new arena on one of the parking lots next door? Cleveland expanded the footprint of Quicken Loan Arena, making the concourses wider and adding a lot of features. The arena was in use even with construction. I guess you could do that to KBC. You could overbuild the plaza and Perry Street, even South Park Avenue, maybe incorporating the DLW Terminal into the arena. They did an amazing job with TD Garden in Boston. The arena is completely swallowed up by retail, restaurant and hotel development. You have to pass through it to get to the arena. The footprint of that new development was a parking lot, and was where the old Boston Garden sat. But any new retail space in Buffalo would likely cannibalize existing shops and restaurants nearby. There's only so much money to spend in WNY.
  4. What would be more cost effective? Renovation or building new?
  5. An ideal scenario is Anderson's role starting as Comrie's backup, slowly giving way to UPL, then riding off into the sunset.
  6. Got talked into going to see Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets in Boston Sept. 22. It'll be the start of their "Echoes Tour." So I assume they will be doing the full album. I'm more partial to early Floyd anyway.
  7. This is where GM's win or lose: How well do they know their players? What looks like a gamble to people outside might be a slam dunk to Kevyn Adams. Extending Eichel was more of a gamble in hindsight.
  8. Did anyone catch the After The Whistle pod with Craig and Petey? Craig all but called this signing months ago while Petey pounded the table that you don't pay someone for one year's work. So of course Peters was Mr. Sourpuss while Rivet basked in his glory. If you listen to ATW enough you realize that Peters still carries a lot of bitterness towards the Sabres while claiming to be a supporter. His predictions for the team always skew towards failure. From his lack of faith in Granato (still) to the Thompson signing going south, and where the Sabres are heading in '22/'23, Petey always takes the under. It makes me wonder if there was more to their departure from The Instigators than has been reported.
  9. Just got home. Great show. Played for 2.5 hrs. Did all of Flood with other deep cuts mixed in. Very casual show, lots of crowd banter. Actually sang and played a song backwards, taped it, then during intermission played that video in reverse to prove they really played a song backwards.
  10. Ever buy a ticket and forget you did? I bought tickets for They Might Be Giants in Portsmouth, NH for their 40th anniversary of the album Flood tour. Show was cancelled last year, rescheduled for tonight. If I didn't get an email from the venue I would have totally spaced it.
  11. WGR tonight, does Paul Hamilton really think that's an actual goat on the Goathead jersey?
  12. And it immediately became to top selling jersey in the NHL. In fact the non-logo version became a favorite with school and youth teams as well.
  13. I lived through this over at the Bills board drafting Josh Allen. Some people are so invested in their takes they are disappointed by success.
  14. Rooting for failure just to be able to say "I told you so." No one is ever really happy to be proven wrong.
  15. Hockey is a sport that entertains at any level. Any great game is fun to watch.
  16. Uhh, no. He was one of the greatest lacrosse players ever, a member of the Bandits and now their coach, and he's the best at his job. That's why we care.
  17. https://buffalonews.com/sports/john-tavares-agrees-to-three-year-contract-to-remain-buffalo-bandits-coach/article_eec3ff72-2247-11ed-b459-87803d521f96.html Don't look now but 2 of the three Pegula-owned teams are very very good, with a third on its way.
