Anywhere from $330 to $360 for a 14-16 game season in NH. But goalies are free! (That's why I play goalie.) Being a "sub" on a per game basis is $20. Pick up games are $7 - $15. PTR

Anyone who met me knows I'm a big dude with feet to match. Size 16 EEE. Fortunately Bauer makes a size 15 boot that fits me. I have a pair of X40's for skating out. But normally I play goalie and they don't make goalie skates in my size. So I play in an old pair of Bauer 1000's when I'm in net. Because I'm on regular skaters blades I've had to develop a different style in goal. But it works for me. It also gave me some pretty strong ankles since I have to move side to side, up and down, etc in a small space. PTR

I'm not going to read every post in this thread so forgive me if I'm redundant. I've played "beer league" hockey for almost 30 years now. I've seen "noobs" join teams. Some improve dramatically, others never do. The one thing I've observed is that you have to get to the point where you aren't thinking about your skating. Skating pretty doesn't make you more effective. I've seen guys who look like they are on the verge of going down with every stride still make great plays. It's all about desire and effort. Pickup games are fine but there is nothing like playing in a competitive league. Also have you considered playing goal? PTR

How about a free upgrade to the clubs for a game? At the very least club access or maybe pre-game dinner at the Harbor Club. The Bills did just that as a carrot to get ST renewals. I have to say I really enjoyed watching the Miami game in my t-shirt while the unwashed masses froze their toques off. PTR

Next year make the rink as big as the football field! Here's another nutty idea: Next time Buffalo gets to host a Winter Classic, play the game on the frozen Buffalo River behind the FNC.

I once owned a 10" tablet and realized that 7" is the ideal size. Big enough to watch video one, small and light enough to hold comfortably. I bought a Samsung Tab 3 (wifi only) 7" at Staples a few months back when they had a $75 off coupon promo so I got it for $124. (They are "black friday" priced at $159 at several outlets.) I love it. Installed the Netflix app and watch stuff. PTR

I have vivid memories of the 2003 Frozen Four. Fans were walking out of what was then HSBC Center looking all around for something to see or do and seeing nothing but desolation. What an embarrassment. If/when we do get another marquee event in Buffalo at least there will be things to occupy the tourists. I just saw Buffalo Iron Works opened on Illinois St. across from the parking garage. I've often wondered if Illinois would be developed into a restaurant/night club district like Mississippi. PTR
