  1. That I can agree on... but Sabres need to take some chance to find centers or as you say a goal scorer. Still, if they have two no 1 draft pics one should be a center. Obvious this year, but keep it going. D except in rare cases shouldn't be drafted in 1st round. 2 D 2 years ago is an abomination imo no matter how good they turn out.
  2. Man am I sick of school being cancelled over 3 inches of snow.... Westchester schools are wimps. What a joke. I need my kids out of the house.
  3. Are either centers, I am all for either if they are centers.
  4. Agreed this wasn't Murray's fault, just advocating that they don't make the same mistake again. And only agree they played with one hand behind back until ownership issues were resolved. Yet Darcy grabbed two D his last year. Just saying there were opportunities that were missed and the excuse that top 6 centers were not out there is a myth imo. Just difficult to obtain and DR never put enough priority on them to the Sabres detriment even after purse strings were removed. Heck he got Erhoff, Regier and Boyes and spent wildly on Leino a redicolous mistake. I am saying to DR, it wasn't a priority and couldn't ID a center given a C two e's and two r's.
  5. Only one has worked out and he is a 2/3 line center in Girgenson, I hope you are right abt Sam, but that only gives that Sabres 1 plus a maybe and a future McEichel assuming they finish last. They drafted one that doesnt look like he is going to turn out and some in the 2nd round that who knows while drafting a lot of D unnecessarily when there was such a glaring hole in the middle. Again, Sabres need to draft centers in first till they are at least 5 deep, 2 for certain one checking and 2 developing. Only then will I get off this drumbeat. As others are betting on another thread Sam won't be ready till midway next year at earliest... That is not a guarantee and Sabres are still without a number 1-2 center only developing them. Keep drafting them
  6. True but can he make it in the NHL, jury still out and untill it comes back draft centers is all
  7. I am fine with that as long it is a goal scorer and not a D. I have high hopes for Sam, but then Grigerenko gave us high hopes, just saying keep drafting Cs till a couple hit and then keep looking for hidden gems.
  8. Sam is part of tear down... Too little to late and no guarantee he works out, I still use first two pics on centers. And even if you do you are always looking for another.
  9. Disagree, Sabres dragged their feet going after centers and then paid for it. Darcy miscaculated the importance of centers thus requiring tear down. D wasnt and wouldnt have been bad, but he kept drafting D no 1. Myers, Pysk, Z and Risto all good choices, but very little high end offensive talent... Darcy couldnt spot a goal scorer if you spotted him an s and r. So this where we are left. TM needs to draft 2 centers 1 then find another in 2nd and then 2 D with goalies and chances on unkowns later on. McEichel cant be only center taken.
  10. True and the wild card out there are these AHLers currently up with the team. Does any of them have a breakout during the final 18 games and make the team next year. Larsson is the obvious choice, but I wonder if someone like Dalpe or even Varone who is getting a good look, opens eyes and really shines???
  11. And repeat it over and over again so it is quoted in other blogs and is picked up by Sullivan er Eklund as multiple sources are reporting....
  12. Quite a kid... P.S. McDavid suffered a boxers fx of the 5th metatarsal.... Pretty common in hockey, fighting, and any stick, hand, ball type of sport. They heal well especially with younger guys... So it really wasn't a big deal despite the drama.
  13. St. Louis' wife and her family is from Greenwich CT, he ain't moving either
  14. I forgot about those Red unis not bad what abt blue and gold???
  15. http://stats.nhlnumbers.com/free_agents Look at this for a good sense for what makes sense for Sabres next year.
  16. Long winded way of saying tanking doesnt guarantee success and it didnt have to be done. On the first true, on the second once darcy didnt replace the team with talented centers tanking imo was inevitable, just want the job done right and be finished this year.
  17. The FA info is hopeful. Again, need to see actions twds significant improvement the next two years.
  18. Agreed, more trades of prospects or current players is not team building, giving up to much for ROR or any other player without retaining enough talent of current crop is just moving dirt around not really cleaning anything up. I want to see team building from here on out. That being said Hogson can be had for a wooden stick imo.
  19. All I can say is it better be, because like an ass pimple, it doesnt always feel better when it pops, sometimes the oil spreads and creates more pimples. Jury is out and this one is still painful. This is metaphorical not hyperbole.
  20. My fear with trading Neuvirth and Stewart, and in a couple days i guess i will see its wisdom, is that the what Sabres gave up did not get enough in return... Also sometimes when you get what you want there is always a little buyers remorse, because you are still resentful for being put in this position in the first place. So until April briefly with confirmation or not Tank is successful and June's draft it truly will be tough. At least beer league spring season starts tonite and I can pull a Big Z and just hit someone regardless????
  21. That is why i was disapointed with Stu deal, would rather a porospect back not pick. The rest are questionable as well.
  22. Long shots at best, I give him a c plus because Bogosian trade with a B if Kane turns out, but a D for deadline day underwhelming would have kept Stewart unless deemed cancer in lockeroom.
