Agreed, but that would have to have been done with DR gone about two years before he was. The lack of replacements to Briere and Drury and the dependance on the the Tin Man, then the ill fated attempt to convert Leino into a center left few other avenues than a full on tank. Available or accessible high end Centers have been a problem for the Sabres for a long time and only with the Tank does it seem that they have made progress in this regard with Reinhart and McEichel. I am not sure there are or have been any other options in reality given prior history under DR.

I always get confused between Mike and Brad... I would go after Mike, but Brad you can have, he is the pouter. Mike brings a better attitude, but seems to be getting old and sometimes breaks down. I guess it would have to work from a contract standpoint, but I could see a trade being good for the Sabres if they could get something else with him.

Caught game on iphone while at work... ER was dead last night.... Good thing.... What a fragile team... listened to Calgary announcers sing Cody Hodgson's praises in 1st period... Yet he still floated, avoided contact and wouldn't shoot. Stafford has disappeared except on one or two shifts. A goal in the third against and the wheels come off. I know we aren't supposed to talk about it non this thread but really this team is needs some offensive guys that can control the puck and put the puck in the net and not too many. But wow, they suck. Good for McEichel, tough to watch.

I don't buy the argument. The Sabres D isn't the real problem, it is scoring and puck control. There have only been a few games that the Sabres have been blown out until recently with the revolving door at D. The Sabres need forwards that can score and bring the puck up the ice. Until that happens the D will occasionally struggle and would with Boychuk and Leddy. The Isle problems were not their forwards last year, but their D sucked. Now that they are playing D and have Tavares back it makes sense in hindsight that they are good.

LOL, I think that may have already happened... The get rid of Stafford thread is still alive.... I rest my case...

It helps that they have a number 1 guy in Tavares... Sabres still need one so who cares only in that the Isle actually got some players that make them legit instead of tanking along with the Sabres and giving them an extra shot at McEichel.
