Murray has traded a lot of assets in a very short period of time
North Buffalo replied to jahnyc's topic in The Aud Club
For 2 reasons I would say your statement misses the point. It remains to be seen if who Murray got in return makes a difference, the new assets have flaws too and may not gell. 2 his negotiating has lent the Sabres giving away too much imo and if Murray had given away less could he have gotten more in return with other trades. Imo he could have done better by not giving away so much, the Sabres could have gotten another D and a scoring winger and a more stable goaltender. Your statement of who cares and it is irrelant is myopic and short sighted as well as insulting. The Sabres have been bad for too long for many of us question every move of this GM and point out his moves pitfalls. Until the Sabres actually show they are competative I think these are highly relevant discussions. . its a bit "risky" Fair points, except that two of the players received in return are big physical question marks and one Kane may be a head case and one has case of cracked head, Lerner, don't know yet and that is a lot to give a way on a maybe and a prayer. Granted both are hockey player and dont need a lot upstairs for anything other than hockey. And the Sabres still need another scoring winger and top 4 D. -
Agreed him to.

So remind me again what UFA and RFA D are out there? Ah any of Mike Green, Johnny Oduya and, Paul Martin would be nice. As for wingers I am hoping for Joel Ward.

If that was all it was, but Grigs, Big Z, Armia, a 1st and really two more late firsts/early 2nds, that is a lot of apples out the pipe. Hope there is still enough smoke, guess Stachan and Weber will be stickin around -

If he can score, numbers were not there last year, injured or couldn't break the line-up -

crap, Big Z should have been enough, don't like the trade. Murray imo getting schooled. Sabres will be better, but won't have enough depth to go anywhere long term. -

timing is bad unecessary till after draft imo where are the pitchforks -
Ward would be an awesome addition for Sabres imo if DC doesn't resign

Aweful dream:( Just got done with a Michael Connolly which written with similar scenario but with no hockey. Hoss, what interests me most about your chart is the success of undrafted players vs those chosen in later rounds, I guess that is the difference between guessing at a potential late bloomer and signing one that has shown some proof?

Nice couldn't agree more.
-
That depends more one how much all of this team plays with sandpaper, but I agree it is not a deterent for dirty players who go after other guys, but will be for those guys who might act out of their own norm once in a while, ie the "casual criminal" where an opportunity presents itself, they might think twice when confronted with a pitbull. To another pitbull it wont matter though.

God I hate that hire Terry stunk as Caps coach, dont like it all. Darn always get Bryan and Tery confused, yeh dont like Bryan, Terry ok
-
Great sarcasm by Eichel of CHerry's support for USA hockey, suprised Cherry didnt burst into flames when he touched that shirt...
-
Agreed, awesome info and insight. Since I haven't had time to digest the stuff I have read about these guys, nor have I watched them much..., This write-up was great and a good primer for the draft. Wonder if you see any late round gems out there, guys who might be late bloomers or highschoolers who need more coaching?

Moriarty you and the negative waves. Patty boy is very good on PK, under rated shot, knows how to forecheck a la Larson and still has speed. His negs are hopefully down to a dull roar for his sake too and yes being a Buffalo boy helps... Still, I am on the fence with him, I guess 1 more year and see if he lasts.
-
In this case for the leak without at least giving Eichel a heads up. Seriously though having worked in the fish bowl in DC, I know how things can be blown out of proportion fast. Like I said this is big boy arena now and whether you think Murray's misteps are no big deal, they haven't really hurt him.. Yet, he still needs to clean it up if he want to be successful longterm. Difference between being a big fish in a little pond or a big fish amoung many big fish, all who will eat each other.
-
Agreed it is nothing, but Murray needs to grow some more, playing with big boys now where anything he does out of step is going to be pointed out... Kinda like going from governor to a position in DC. Its a whole nother animal and he needs to lessen these misteps so it doesn't cost him. Plenty of competitors will try and trip him up and the press does just to see if they can... This one, though not a biggee shows me Murray is still not a "full professional."

or he actually is intelligent and trying to see where the rest of field is and what might be available in a different scenario..
