  1. Agreed play right wing when not playing center and love cutting to the middle from right side. Also it sets upmy shot better, puck is in a better shooting position feel wise so I can get off a shot quicker with more force. PS play a lot of center lately so passing for me is more effective from the left side rather than from a backhand unless I cut like Im going to shoot.
  2. Haven’t heard a good slap base in a while. Thanks really enjoyed.
  3. Great just saw this was started by you MODO. Welcome back, my condolensces... went through it with my Mom 5 years ago... in someways it was a relief afterwards because she was at peace... no longer in pain.. My heart goes out to you and your family... Now kick the Nucks outta off the ice! We have our Modo back!
  4. Yeh, that sucked... of course he goes off the moment I bench him... crap and against the Chiefs, who knew...
  5. Grades are the consequence, not letting the kid participate in things they are interested in are consequences... failing is a consequence and if that doesn't work, trade school, a good teacher finds that hot button thing that makes the kid tick. Some kids are more stubborn than others. And yes parents need to do the same thing at home and more... It is not a black and white kinda of thing, its a partnership. I have a 13 year old boy who is going through puberty and fighting every chance he gets to do just what he wants not what he needs. Sometimes its about coming down hard, sometimes its about just giving encouragement... lots of love and keeping him on his toes. I didn't know my head from my backside at that age... still don't but that is another argument. I have managed to figure it out and survive. My kid is very intelligent so he can be manipulative and just gets down on himself when things don't come easy. It is a challenge and we are working with his teachers constantly. When he is engaged he is awesome... but sometimes he gets stuck and gets stubborn about it. A lot of time it is a simple thing that has him stuck, but he doesn't see that and has given up. Once shown, he comes around. His good teachers see that and work with him... Teachers make all the difference to helping him overcome his teenage angst. The one's he struggles with are the one's that I did. They suck at communicating and don't get him. The good ones stay in touch with us a let us know what is going on. But the others we have to ride herd on them to keep them working with him. I am trying to teach him to learn from all and all their styles and don't take the fact that they aren't good teachers doesn't mean he has to give up. There other ways to figure out what he needs to learn and be successful and that is his responsibility. Of course he alternates at that age between taking responsibility and wanting to just be a kid... that is part of the deal. In hockey as anywhere else there are consequences. I like that Housley was working with McCabe today... it shows to me he is engaged. McCabe getting less minutes and then working with him seems to be Housley's style... watch for a while, then I'll work with you and show you what you are missing and lets try this again. He is not giving up on anyone and it is a process. He uses consequences, playing time, line switching, taking advantage of each player's skill set and then trying to get them all to improve on the skills that they are weak at.... You can see his process, he is transparent about that and a good teacher always is. I can't wait to see these guys put it all together... its coming, but it takes patience and constantly figuring out each players buttons. Housley has just begun this process. And he isn't backing down which is really encouraging.
  6. just gut, no real info, but I didnt like the way the locker room was split last year... and some of that had to fall on Gionta... Seemed like he was Blysmals mole.
  7. Somehow Gionta doesn’t seem like a leader kinda guy, more an assistant. More a teachers pet type.
  8. Either that or a nasty bone bruise.
  9. Friend of mine’s latest song: https://m.soundcloud.com/asteak/happy
  10. Yeh but everyone wants it now and understandably folks are tired of the crap show... Also gotta hope Ullmark comes thru or somehow they find a goalie wisperer to fix Lehner...
  11. just realized he was my age.. that sucks too young..RIP
  12. Agreed and I think Phil calling them out for it... puts a bug in there ears that as professionals they need to do more and take ownership of their preparation, film, teamwork figuring out what works... As you said this is gonna take some adjustment. When I went back to school at 48 for radiology our director commented because most of us were on 2nd careers that when she gave us an assignment we’d research it overnite and come back with questions the next day. Usually her classes are made of younger people and she had to push them to just get the basic assignment started. We would get them done early like a work project. We already knew what the basics were. This team is young, they are still trying to figure out where to start let alone what questions to ask.
  13. I hear you but I think a good coach figures out Sam’s buttons like Phil appeared to last night.
  14. I think he is often too affable, and so is Jack sometimes...that comes with maturity and those two need to do some growing up.
  15. PS Marner now playing on TO fourth line...
  16. traded too many draft choices, especially the ones for Lehner...
  17. One of my favorite things to do is putting someone down in front of the net... it sends such a not so subtle message... Ask Mustache..
  18. Have you ever met a thirteen year old boy... that being said my leverage is his xbox... Bill Parcels was a master at getting into players heads... Babcock appears to be... So does the the hoodie who will remain nameless... Some of it maybe Phil finding the right players.

  20. . Yeh he was clearly irritated... better yet you could steam coming from his ears. Can’t capture the moment in the presser, but definitly saw a Vanek face.
  21. Interesting point on the chosen one... Jack is learning there is more to hockey than working on his game. Probably something Phil learned later, but a team needs a coach on the ice. You always see Sydney talking to his fellow teamates and discussing what is happening on the ice when he is on the bench or talking to the coaches... Saw Sam doing it last night with Phil... Honestly think Sam may surprise folks once he gets it down... I see him much more engaged the last few games.
  22. Maybe not the vocal one the young players need... Wonder if there is guy out there that might be able to verbally lead... I think Housley is trying to teach them and see who step forward. Bogo maybe if he can get healthy.
  23. Been to Temagami and lake just North... Wakimika....
  24. But after his experience in Minny I dont see Pommer floating... Jack and Sam need to be less affable on the ice though and grow up, when they do watch out
  25. He was positive in the end, but definitly sent a message that their prep was unaccceptable and that they would keep working on it.
