  1. Not doubting cronyism at all. It's not unusual for uber successful people to surround themselves with people they have a certain comfort level with. I doubt that Battista has any say in what Murray and his department are tasked with, what processes Murray's department create and follow, and what personnel Murray chooses for his team. He reports directly to Pegula and that in itself should serve to remove any doubts about Battista's involvement along those lines. At least for reasonable people. GO SABRES!!!
  2. There is only one way to make third or more parties viable IMO, and that is to overturn Citizens United and make elections publicly funded. A return to the Fairness Doctrine would also help the process. But good luck with that.
  3. I saw few of those at games. And I appreciated the better context, too. GO SABRES!!!
  4. So now a digression from and a contradiction to an earlier point made in an opinion piece written by a journalist with an axe to grind passes for a "media" report? The total disregard for every other ACTUAL media reports since yesterday in order to support the narrative by both Harrington and the click-hungry crowd here is both lazy and intellectually dishonest. At best. GO SABRES!!!
  5. Ah, the case of the missing bio. I remember it well. It came up missing right after the strawberries. Others thought it to be mere coincidence, but not me. No, not me. As soon as the bio also went missing, I knew I had them. GO SABRES!!!
  6. Yes, Pegula is simply interested in having cronies run his team. That's why he never bothered to hire PLF to find a qualified GM or attempt to make Babcock the highest paid coach in history. We now continue with our regularly scheduled narrative of misery. GO SABRES!!!
  7. 1.) False. Murray kind of qualified that by saying "maybe I shouldn't say this but..." 2.) Disagree only because it is not a question of credibility. 3.) Trade it for a player, preferably as part of a package for O'Reilly. 4.) 100%, but maybe not by 2017. I think it will be sooner. 5.) Boston GO SABRES!!!
  8. Does Murray strike anyone as the type to tolerate superfluous layers of bureaucracy that interferes with his job? One would think that the fact he reports directly to Pegula would be enough to put that to rest. But there always has to be a bad guy. Always has to be a conspiracy. Always has to be a reason to be disappointed. I've decided not to let the tinfoil crowd ruin my enjoyment. I think, like the Sullsys and Harringtons of the world, their real motivation is to generate clicks and nothing more. To be contrarian just for contrarian's sake. Ultimately, it adds little. GO SABRES!!!
  9. Look folks, the simple fact is that ever since Pegula chastised the BN for being so negative four years ago, they have been frozen out. And the Sullys, Gleasons, and Harringtons continue to be insulted. "Chatter" my ass. GO SABRES!!! Great point. Classic case of a Harrington contradiction. GO SABRES!!!
  10. ^Exactly. GO SABRES!!!
  11. Was just reading an article a about the press conference and Shanny said that their offer to Babcock never changed. So, Toronto's original offer was the same 10yr, $50m deal he agreed to yesterday. Right. Going to great lengths to fend off criticism that Babcock agreed to deal with Sabres and then shopped it to the Leafs, apparently. GO SABRES!!!
  12. Permission? From whom I wonder. Ghost, maybe? GO SABRES!!!
  13. I doubt the Toronto media wouldn't have questioned Babcock's character if the situation was reversed. GO SABRES!!!
  14. I'd kick the tires on Dineen. I know it's all about the talent to execute it, but I love how the Blackhawks play hockey and if he brought that kind of philosophy, I think our players would like it, too. GO SABRES!!!
  15. This is dog chow's finest hour!
  16. It's wrong if, even with a poor group of players, he convinced you he isn't a good coach at the NHL level. I submit he did just that in the eyes of Murray and others. Throw in their inability to communicate well with each other, makes a ton of sense for Murray to have fired him. GO SABRES!!!
  17. Agree with your take entirely. Even if they get Strome, I won't be impressed. That kid is a ways away from being an NHL centerman at this point. He was downright exposed in the last couple rounds of the Otters' playoffs. GO SABRES!!!
  18. Look, PA, if saying you seem to have a narrative offended you, please accept my apology. But are you going to deny you have a propensity to look for and find villains in Sabreland? And why does there always have to be a bad guy, anyway? GO SABRES!!!
  19. This team imploded due to a totally dysfunctional locker room. I don't care how good a coach is, there is no magic wand that fixes that level of internal strife. Given how bad they were down the stretch last season, I doubt these players are capable of finding the essential team bond required to turn it around so I think some big parts will have to be shipped out. Fixing teams via FAgency seldom works unless your core is able to absorb new guys without missing a beat. Toronto's core blew up. GO SABRES!!!
  20. This is a fair point to be sure.
  21. Agreed. Breaking an agreement in principle is virtually unheard of in pro sports so I find the comparison to other businesses a bit off. And I'm not so sure it happens all that frequently in other businesses, either. Negotiating in bad faith is frowned upon, regardless of the type of business in which that negotiating is conducted. If all the reports about Babcock's turnaround are true, it just doesn't reflect well on the man. GO SABRES!!!
  22. It is. But if what the Sabres have said is true and they thought Babcock had agreed to their deal (to the point of setting up a press conference to announce it if Tim Graham is to be believed), then it's anything but a standard procedure. It's the epitome of not negotiating in good faith and that's never standard procedure. GO SABRES!!!
  23. Ah, gotcha now. I misunderstood the previous context, so disregard my question. I think it's still not good form if Babcock gave the Sabres the strong impression that he agreed to the deal in principle and then backed out once Toronto was reported to be back in the picture. I mean Toronto wasn't even mentioned yesterday in the midst of all the "it's down to Detroit and Buffalo" reports. Anyway, I'm over it. GO SABRES!!!
  24. Good stuff, here. "Thermostat of my soul." Nice. I need to use that in the future. GO SABRES!!!
  25. If Babcock spreads himself too thin with other player personnel issues (think Bowman when he came here), and he can't immediately turn around the lockerroom attitude from last year (and it was bad), I don't give him much of a chance with that roster in the short term. I think they'll actually finish worse than last year. Let me mull it over. GO SABRES!!! Not sure what that has to do with reneging on a deal he reportedly reached in principle with the Sabres yesterday. GO SABRES!!!
