  1. I’d rather stay 5 too, but the cap will be over $100M by year 6 and with the way they are set up, I could live with 8 if it kept the cap hit around $6M.
  2. No, I think he wasn’t ready for the role at 20 but my contention is that it had little to do with his career path. Maybe, if he was forced to play in Rochester then he would have grown up sooner, but probably not. Ralph Krueger I have no explanation for but again, I see no part in Casey’s development.
  3. I’m on record as saying that all that misused, badly developed stuff is garbage do I’m not going to change now. In my mind, Casey decided to grow up and matured both physically and mentally. I’ll admit, I’m surprised but I’m ecstatic as well. Casey turning into the guy he was hyped to be could put this team over the top. They’ll have some hard decisions to make but it’s going to be fun.
  4. He had been a co-owner of Canadians(24%). I believe his main business is Healthcare related.
  5. This, may be even more ridiculous than the original point I was referencing. You might think being condescending and smug is some sort of right but most of us deserve more respect than that. Your act is getting old.
  6. It seems appropriate in this thread to emphasize once again that everyone has their own reasons for going where they go. Some people want to be close to home, some want to be as far away as possible, some want bright lights, party atmosphere, some want rural, quiet family life. Nothing is universal but the more reasons the better. Winning, proximity to Canada, taking care of your players, a progressive front office and coaching just add to the reasons to come.
  7. I’m going to make a prediction here. There will be an acquisition in the next two years where the acquired player tells the media that Eichel spoke highly of the city.
  8. I was going to stay out of this but this response is just ridiculous. You believe any little snippet has a negative effect but nothing has a positive effect.
  9. I agree on Hanifin but I’ll continue to beat this drum in disagreement with you, they are looking for a veteran center. It’s third to a goalie and a defenseman but it’s real.
  10. The Sabres have loved Gibson for awhile and while his numbers appear pretty bad lately, some analytics suggest that it’s more complicated then what some think. I don’t think he’s their number one choice but he’s a possibility.
  11. Yeah, I’m familiar with Roby’s story including how he took out Gilbert’s knee, albeit accidentally. Just didn’t know he played for the Bisons.
  12. Good question though. I had no memory of Robitaille playing for the Bisons and quite frankly, have no idea who Brian McDonald.
  13. So Crozier Hamilton Dryden Mickey Schmautz Marshall Hillman
  14. I think it’s a few more then thought
  15. Ok, I’ll help. Larry Hillman Don Marshall
  16. Again, I obviously know one (Roger) but for some reason I also remember Al Hamilton played for the Bisons as well. One of my first, favorite players.
  17. That’s right. Nathan L something.
  18. I have to admit, I was wrong about Casey. I think he’ll be here another two or three years.
  19. Yes, until someone comes along to better them, this will be the first group/groups I think of when I think of defensive trios.
  20. I know this but I’ll let it play out.
  21. Chad implied that extension percentage would run in line when first year of extension hit which would make it between &10-$10.2M
  22. Good point. th By the way, now that its over, I looked it up. Boston acquired the picks from LA and ironically, Philly. Montreal got their picks from California and Minnesota. The two Montreal picks, goaltender Ray Martynuik and left winger Chuck Lefley. The only other first round picks of note, Toronto selected Daryl Sittler and Chicago picked Dan Maloney who us old timers will remember as the vaunted tough guy who had his nose broken by our very own number Eleven.
  23. And that is correct. I guess not as difficult as Eleven, and frankly myself, thought.
  24. Boston actually had 3 and 4 and Montreal had 5 and 6. If I remember correctly, and I don’t want to look, both of Montreal’s players never made it. Leach was one, Watson was not the other.
  25. As per Eleven, I will pose the next question. This is kind of a Sabre question. Most people on this board know that Gilbert and Dale Tallon were the top two picks of the 1970 draft. However, the next two players taken were players that both played a significant role in stopping the Sabres cup aspirations. While they were both drafted by Boston, they ended up on the Flyers. Who were they?
