If you were an 18 year old employee making a six figure salary would you tell a company vice-president you wanted to leave for a couple of weeks?

I understand the arguments both ways and my emotional decision was not to send him because it implied to me another sign of not being serious about winning. My feelings have since changed. He should have been allowed to go.

Watching Sabres, Bills, or Both tomorrow night?
tom webster replied to Spoonman's topic in The Aud Club
I am not sure why all the angst. Sabres game will be through at least one period and the way this year has gone, you’ll know the outcome by then. To answer the question, both, but whether the second monitor is on will depend on which version of Sabres is playing tonight. -
Thanks. It’s been a long couple weeks

The Elephant In the Sabres' Room: Fixing the Power Play

You might want to let Mike Sullivan know. -
Assuming availability with regards to injury is equal, , Quinn will be better but they are extremely fortunate to have both.

I’m pissed. Besides the way he handled Kane, to say he is considering letting Benson play for the Canadian junior team during a season where they are supposed to be trying to actually win is beyond believable to me. -

The General Manger already quit on the season, why shouldn’t the players -
FWIW, I seldom, if ever, take anything personal, especially regarding interaction on a message board. Also, I don’t have to ask, I know I am the as..ole more then my share of the time.

He didn’t want to be here just to sell tickets and ride off into the sunset. He had options and he wanted teams to convince him that they had a plan for him and for the team. Adams once again couldn’t close the deal. It’s becoming a refrain. He decided they aren’t serious about contending this year and he took less money to go to a team clearly trying to get better. It doesn’t hurt that he has some friends on Detroit. He wants to win and the money wasn’t the number motivating factor. It doesn’t even mean he’s right. Players sometimes are the worst judge of where teams are headed.

Thanks Dudacek. One last thing, I’m not even sure it all doesn’t work out. Who knows, maybe yesterday starts this team on a run, UPL turns into Ken Dryden and everyone’s happy. Today, however, there are some serious conversations going on and some answers being demanded.

Just stating what I know to be true. You can choose to believe what you will. Would it really matter anyway? Pierre LeBrun talked about them being one of the final four, would you scoff at that? Darren Dreger? In the end, you and everyone will choose to believe what you want, listen to who you want and I’m cool with that. I will offer what I have, those who know me will know who told me, those who think they know me will probably consider it to be fact and some who have no idea will decide what they want to believe. That’s how these things work.

No GM talked openly about Kane. Believe what you want but they offered him the most, wanted him here and only started to put their spin on it when Kane told them it was down to Detroit and Florida. As “Thorn” has constantly stated, Adams has become a master at leaking “the effort” and spinning things their way. 1) he didn’t trade Ullmark because he knew he could sign him. 2) he didn’t sign Ullmark because he didn’t want to block his prospects. What real franchise saves spits for prospects. 3) the contenders gave up their future for immediate satisfaction and Buffalo will benefit( he even got Donny to echo those thoughts). 4) the Devils are a year ahead so that’s why they are trading prospects and going for it 5) now apparently Detroit’s a year ahead 6) next year, Ottawa will be a year ahead 7) we were really close on a forward at free agency, but price went too high don’t worry, they are really trying.

This, I believe, is the correct take. He wanted to be here, Buffalo offered the most money, and he chose someone the Sabres are competing with. I had doubts of what kind of fir he was, don’t like him personally, and am not sure he’s what they want in the locker room, but him going there is an embarrassment to the front office.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone and remember “A nod’s as good as a wink to a blind horse.” 😉 -
Any three of those guys is fine. To have six is, as you said, disgusting

I’ve never felt that Savoie was highly regarded in the organization. They really wanted Kasper and Savoie was the consolation prize. Then after drafting Benson it seemed like they couldn’t talk about him without mentioning that he was the best player on the ice whenever they checked in on Savoie. -

Things I know for certain; 1) the Sabres have made the best financial offer(two years). 2) Last time I talked to anyone, he still “waxed poetic” about playing here 3) the Sabres have done their “due diligence” and believe he has matured and could handle playing here 4) he will not sign here without assurances the team is “all in.” I am not a big fan of this move but my feelings may be colored by my dislike for the family. It is point number four that I feel is the best part about the whole scenario. The flip side, of course, is if he goes elsewhere he believes they aren’t ready for contender status. The situation is still fluid but I won’t be surprised if it all comes to a head tomorrow. -

These takes are hysterical. It’s like no one pays attention to what’s going on around the league. There are like three teams with records significantly above .500 and 3 sucking pond scum. Everyone else is treading water as they figure things out. -
