  1. I would venture to guess that several Montreal Canadians did.
  2. I would agree with this. However, I could also see a role for Kane but I wouldn’t prioritize him. Like Brawndo, I fear a Kane signing would indicate a Terry push. I know the thought of finishing his career in Buffalo has intrigue Kane and I know TPEGS is interested. I never got the sense KA was interested. A couple of final points, I think he has grown up a lot. The false rape allegations really shook him up. However, doing nothing about the mess in Chicago doesn’t speak well of him. On the other hand, I think the leadership in Buffalo is strong enough to overcome any issues Patrick would bring.
  3. Just wanted to mention two “old school things” as well, Billy Sheehan, originally of Talas is one of the country top bassist and is considered by some to be the grandfather of lead bass. Willie Nile is a critically acclaimed folk rock singer and has performed with a wide variety of acts including several appearances with Bruce Springsteen.
  4. Yep. I was pissed because for the first concert, I bought 10 tickets and lost the $25 service charge($2.50 per ticket) For a high school senior making $2.75 an hour it was a big deal.
  5. Just to clarify, Harvey went to UB but he wasn’t from Buffalo and I’m not sure he graduated either. He was a couple years ahead of me.
  6. I had tickets or vouchers for two Zeppelin concerts that never happened. The first would have been around 77/78 and I thought someone had a bike accident although I’m not 100% sure. The second was when Bonham died which I think was around 80.
  7. Bono was actually playing pong (google it) with the wife of Corky Burger, one half of Harvey and Corky Productions who pretty much controlled the local music scene during the 70’s and 80’s. You may know Harvey better as Harvey Weinstein. I used to like to drop his name and mention how he hooked me up with Led Zeppelin tickets(a show that never happened) until he became persona non grata at UB. Another fairly well known band made one of their first American appearances at Stage One. I stopped in one night to grab Mighty Taco which was actually located right in the bar and saw Sting belting out Roxanne to about sixty less then interested patrons.
  8. I’m excited that you are excited about this guy. If the big three becomes the big five(I am including Johnson) it will go a long way to prolonged success through 2030)
  9. Skinner is more likely to be bought out near the end of his deal Eventually they will trade future number ones for some Goodrow/Hagel/Colton types. When they are an actual contender, they can add a Maroon/Perry type at veteran minimum Some of the prospects will plateau out and become expansion feed
  10. If you watch the embedded show, Adams even jokes that they will be accused of leaning toward smaller players. They draft highly competitive, talented players. Size is overrated anyway, almost as much as hits. Besides, Ray, Barnaby and May aren’t exactly big guys either. Again, hits are so overrated.
  11. The cap will be $100M before Rasmus’ contract is up. The smart guys should follow Matthew’s ’ example and go short term. The problem is there agents have dual motives and are pushing for long term deals which should ultimately benefit the Sabres.
  12. It’s been two months and I still believe the deal was done around June 30th. Did something thing change, maybe. I guess we will find out what they want us to know when they release some embedded episode.
  13. The fact is that very few really know anything. You make assumptions because this guy knows the person that does the background check or that guy knows the lawyer reviewing the contracts or your friend knows the doctor scheduled for the physical. The only certainty is that these things don’t take months if dialogue. Contracts get done in less than an hour when free agency begans. It’s all just posturing and sound bites to feed the masses.
  14. I’ll admit I was wrong when it turns out I was wrong but the next time Andrew Peters is right about anything Sabre related will be the first time.
  15. So you are choosing to believe those who support your narrative as opposed to those who don’t. Cool.
  16. This is why the notion that these teams lose money laughable. Some make more than others, maybe even a lot more, but none of them are actually losing anything.
  17. A) I haven’t bothered reading the whole thread so I’m sorry if any of this has been beaten to death B) This isn’t really a novel idea. Other franchises have done it for years. C) Even during the first years, the crowd was mixed for any “original six” game as most season ticket holders were fans of those teams before Buffalo had a team. It got a lot more intense when Montreal or Toronto came to town because the fans of those teams could get pretty nasty with each other. D) This may have crossed TPEGS desk, but it definitely didn’t originate with him. I’m not sure he even knew it was possible. E) The crowds in 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 weren’t much different. In fact, because those tickets cost me only $39 back then, I would sell all the Montreal and Toronto tickets and paid for almost my entire season.
  18. It was done two months ago. Just waiting for TPEGS to become President and sign off on it and to announce it just as single game seats went on sale😎
  19. Despite my disappointment with lack of goalie upgrade, I still believe Buffalo is the better team and will make a playoff push.
  20. I’m pretty sure Martin wore 7 first and then him, Robert and Norm Gratton like to switch occasionally
  21. People forget he was so homesick he briefly thought of retiring in his first or second year.
  22. I thought he did reconnect after Pegula bought the team before fading away. He always did prefer staying close to home so maybe that’s all it is. Like I said, I’ve always stayed away from the things that I consider private matters.
  23. I’ve shied away from this subject but it seems Gilbert has been distanced from the franchise for last couple years.
  24. FWIW, I still stand by the belief that this is done. They have no reason to announce till all parties want to. I’m surprised it hasn’t been announced yet but I can understand, as well, that there is an optimum time to make the announcement. I am glad that it has given some of you reason to post. It’s all about the traffic, right Scott?
