  1. Didn’t O’Reilly just do that?
  2. Chad is confirming what shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Like he said, extension should be announced shortly after July 1st rolls around and will fall in line with cap percentage of Fox and Makar.
  3. Every time I see a discussion on drafting needs in the NHL, I think back to Darcy Regier lamenting taking Tyler Ennis instead of John Carlson strictly because he had already drafted Tyler Meyers a few picks before.
  4. I agree a little with this but think they are the kind of signings that won’t hurt you based on the impending increases in salary cap and the fact that both players will fall in line with where there AAV’s fall in relation to similar players and both have potential to improve dramatically based on age and experience. Oliver, for example will be about the 17th highest paid player at his position by the start of the season and probably mid-20’s by start of next season.
  5. Thompson and Cozens about $1.5M less than Suzuki and Caufield. Nice.
  6. I thought the Hershey feed was very fair. Even admitting that their player had the stick in a place it shouldn’t have been prior to a Jobst grabbing it.
  7. I must say, I find it amusing that on one hand, there is a segment of the fan base that believe these AHL playoffs are an important part of a player’s development and yet they are expected to jump right in and play like they’ve not missed a beat.
  8. 1) the point was, that he wanted to sign Ullmark and you still seem to expect one hundred percent public truthfulness. I have no problem with your opinion. My problem is that you keep confirming your opinion based on KA’s public statements which quite frankly is naive. I have no idea what ends up transpiring but I one hundred percent believe that KA wants better just as he wanted in the past.
  9. They won’t be trading JJP or Kulich. I could see them swapping the first as part of a deal, though. However, there are at least three or four free agent goalies they can get for free. I think they believe Levi will be the guy eventually. I am 100% convinced, however, that they intend to upgrade over Comrie and UPL.
  10. You keep repeating this based on KA’s public statements but they are actually contrary to facts in evidence as well as “well sourced” info. 1) He would have signed Ullmark for three years, probably four if he realized Boston was part of the equation 2) He traded for Murray 3) He asked Gibson to waive his NMC 4) They have been linked to Hellebuyck by Mike Russo among others and Russo is as good as it gets when it comes to connected within NHL circles. The onus is on Adams to complete the deal but speculation that he is confident going into the season with Levi as his main goalie is incorrect.
  11. This all can’t be possible because I keep getting told the cap isn’t rising by that much in two years and Buffalo has to be careful how they spend.
  12. Maybe you can explain to me how Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, Toronto, teams I consider our top competition in the East, are more physical than Buffalo. I really want to understand.
  13. Well how do you explain that two teams ranked in the bottom five in hits made it to the Eastern Conference final? Dallas also in the bottom five.
  14. I was waiting for this take. Doesn’t matter that the final four in the NHL featured four of the least physical teams in the league.
  15. Sorry, Okposo seems exactly like a player that one would expect to produce in the playoffs if you believe in that sort of thing.
  16. You seem to lack an understanding of what it is to build a team. You are not looking for the twelve most skilled forwards you can find. There are defined roles and championship teams have places for KO, Gus, etc.
  17. Trust me, the players know that KO deserves a spot ahead of Rosen. Kulich, while a great prospect, still had to refine his game a tad. Rousek is the only forward in Rochester ready for the NHL.
  18. Does nobody pay attention to who man’s the third and fourth line on the really hood teams? Boston, who is held in duck high regard, paid Nick Foligno $3.8M per year on a two year deal when he had less left then KO.
  19. Girgs probably will get 3X$3. It’s the going rate for veteran leaders/third liners. The team has plenty of cap space and still need the veteran leadership these guys provide.
  20. When bonuses factored in he did not get more than Bergeron. Boston played cap roulette and now they will pay for it.
  21. Why? He looked like he was going nowhere and KA could have been of the thought that trading Tage was a way to put all the ROR stuff behind the team. As I said, there have been several reports earlier regarding this but no one connected it to the Leafs till now. Actually this looks correct too.
  22. The Tage for a 5th story was a well know story for awhile. This is the first time it’s been publicly stated it was to the Leafs. One again, the old adage that your best deals are the ones that don’t go through is reinforced.
  23. Yeah, ultimately, it seems like something not worth the effort and on par with drafting Taro Tsujimoto considering how many picks they’ve had.
  24. I’m glad someone brought your first sentence up. All 6th round picks are not created equal. The rest of the list, as usual, is spot on as well.
