  1. My belief is that there are still moves to be done. A top six forward, most likely winger and a 3C center. While they haven’t been able to consummate the big deal, the teams they are talking to haven’t made their moves either. Winnipeg, for instance, still wants to move Ehlers, the only questions are 1) price now compared to what they think they can get at deadline, 2) if they are as good as they expect, do they really want to deal with it at deadline, 3) will he be a distraction 4) maybe, like last year, they come to terms on a contract and he signs for eight years. It’s all conjecture at this point. I thought they would finish the deal at the draft.
  2. The Sabres didn’t need Cozens contract to reach the floor.
  3. Have you looked at the production Florida got from their second(EROD) and third (Lindell) centers? Buffalo wants a more defensive third center and their first two to play like they did two years ago. And Cozens contract isn’t dumb. When the cap hits $100M he will either be huge value if he plays like two years ago or about right if he plays like last year.
  4. If you see Byram as a legitimate top defenseman(and I do) then you always make that trade. Plus, two things about Casey and Buffalo, 1) he probably isn’t taking that deal in Buffalo 2) they are looking for something different as far as skill set from their number three center
  5. I agree. Winnipeg supoposedly wanted Krebs, #14 plus two top prospects or one and an unprotected #1 next year, that is an awful lot for one year of Ehlers even if they threw in Iafollo.
  6. I don't know what has been said in this thread but as I have said before, some of you need to worry more about what he does/doesn't do and less about what he says. Two years ago or so, he went on and on about being happy with his goaltending despite completing negotiations for both Matt Murray and John Gibson that only fell through because the players wouldn't waive. This year he had deals in place for Necas and Ehlers but in both cases the players wouldn't commit to extensions and he thought the price was too high without the extensions. You can argue about his negotiation skills, about how well he presents his message, about the contracts offered but he knows what this team needs. He just doesn't seem to know or have the ability to get the job done. It also wouldn't surprise me if he thinks Winnipeg or Carolina would be fooled by his message to the fans.
  7. You could have titled thread “still open to adding to top six.” I’m old and my mental health is fragile.
  8. Probably but it shouldn’t be.
  9. Trade Krebs, Joker, prospect and number 1 for Ehlers and Iaffolo and sign Henrique and I’ll be happier then if I was a Predator fan!
  10. That’s funny because I just thought the same thing.
  11. I really like Ottawa’s signing of Amadio. Could end up being best signing of today.
  12. Best thing that has happened today for Buffalo is Stamkos and Marchessault signing out west and Boston spending like drunken sailors for a third line center and a 4/5 defenseman.
  13. San Jose
  14. Demand is less then we believe. None of our prospects that are not currently in the NHL are considered star quality. Every NHL team has someone like them, Buffalo just has more of them. If KA was willing to package three or four of them he'd likely get a taker from a team ready to go full rebuild. He isn't. He could also easily trade Benson, Quinn, JJP or Owen but he rightfully will not do it.
  15. Probably 3 X $12. Supposedly "fake years" are league scrutinized but we know we can't rely on that.
  16. Once again it’s Andrew Peters being full of crap.
  17. Have no idea about him as a person but there is a reason Edmonton basically relieved him of his duties a year ago. He was pretty much a figure head after Jackson was hired. Detroit couldn't get rid of him fast enough. He was great when there was no cap and money hid his mistakes.
  18. Ken Holland is awful.
  19. If he waives to a team he wants to go to he guarantees himself full value of his contract. If goes the buy out route he might earn less. It might not be a huge difference but it’ll likely be less.
  20. He can get the deal then but it won’t kick in till 2025/2026 and by then it will be at least $95.9M and likely higher.
  21. And the cap will be approaching $100M by the time Benson needs avdeal
  22. It’s how the league works now. The key is gambling on the right guys.
