  1. This one's for you, @New Scotland (NS)! https://www.penncapital-star.com/government-politics/pa-reps-lamb-houlahan-endorse-joe-biden-for-president/
  2. Spoiler alert: it's not really good news. See also: click bait.
  3. I think the quote clearly implies Darcy knew a rebuild was necessary, but that the degree of it would be up to Terry. It also implies there were varying opinions about how far to go and the owner would make the call. Would anybody be surprised to learn that there were factions working against each other at that time? Isn't that the leading theory as to why LaFontaine was in and out the door so fast (that he lost a power struggle with the Pittsburgh wing of the party)? Also! Here's a quote from Darcy's infamous suffering presser: “You could go to the bottom of the League for five years and hope you land on a Crosby or a Malkin,” he said, or the franchise can find something “in between” tanking and rebuilding on the fly.
  4. But as you well know we never find out the truth. Why did Patty leave? etc. So as fans all we have are tidbits, facts when we can get 'em and logic to build circumstantial cases.
  5. Is sitting next to an assistant coach during a game hands-off? I suppose it could be harmless, but what impression does it give and what effect does it have on the professional people? We've also learned, and this was after Murray by a long time, that Terry watches video on the players (and surely not like we do; I suspect we're talking the video packages that staff prepares for coaches). Does Terry just watch for the fun of it, and say nothing to his professional people? Finally, there are the rumblings (none of them mine, actually) that Terry hired Phil and forced Jason's hand in the ROR trade. There's still too much smoke to declare the meddling fire out.
  6. Eleven and nfreeman are just doing Eleven and nfreeman stuff. I am done. You can talk to my dog and lawyer, Milan.
  7. Sockeye is a pretty good hockey name.
  8. I hope Jason's not thinking like that. It smells a lot like Darcy's "wait for the market to set."
  9. Furthermore, there wasn't any kind of team boost that trades often spark.
  10. At center, Jason Botterill. At left wing, Ralph Krueger. At right wing, Terrence Pegula. (Pretty sure Terry would be on the right side.) RaKru's a nice addition with his world view and hockey philosophy, but this franchise is begging for more management savvy. We are lacking a critical mass of top-end executive talent. Terry needs to sit. Botterill needs to take that spot. We need a 1C czar. Can Jack do that, too? He probably couldn't be worse than what we've had.
  11. "The Pegulas were previously based in Pittsburgh before purchasing the Sabres in February 2011. Terry Pegula was such a Penguins fan that he named his beloved dog Sidney." —Associated Press Seriously, no one questions why the Penguin fetish for Terry? Why Black, Sawyer, Patrick, Bylsma, Botterill? Terry, who went on to admit he didn't know his beloved Sabres were for sale after Rigas got arrested, wasn't being truthful on February 22, 2011. But it was brilliant PR, I will give him and Gibby that.
  12. And I believe it's fairly obvious the tank decision went above any GM or coach to Terry and his Pittsburgh posse. Darcy said as much. "There's a right way to rebuild (citing Minny).... The extent of the rebuild will be up to the owner." Spring 2013 (pre-suffering speech)
  13. I'll ask again. What's up with Hutton? I mean you have to ask given the recent history of goaltending in Buffalo. Ullmark might be breaking down. I'll also ask... is this the second year in a row where a Sabres team got into reasonable playoff positioning in December only to see the GM fail to give them any help, leading to tailspin?
  14. It's Sidney. As in Crosby. Terry named it. That's how big a douchebag, and liar, he is.
  15. Asplund's stick never touched 'im! Of course the NHL has to stop the Sabres' momentum. Am I doing this right?
  16. Listen to him sometime on WGR when he lets his guard down a little. Rob's not a turd polisher by nature.
  17. Larry hasn't looked quite the same since returning from injury.
  18. Sometimes I think opposing coaches script first shifts against the Sabres, Bellichick style. We're often on our heels to start periods.
  19. Since I'm criticizing everything not-game tonight, have you noticed that as soon as Marty starts talking, Brian feels the need to look straight into the camera? What a self indulgent little twerp.
  20. Rob is smarter than that and knows better. The direction comes from above him. What does that tell you?
  21. I didn't think playing the organ or recorded music was allowed during play. I'm down to this.
