Because, yeah, Josh has been bad against the wind, but it's likely the opponent's QB will be bad in both directions. Shut down the run & they've a good chance they're still playing 2 weeks from now.

Presuming they can get capable goaltending next year & a typical (or less) amount of key injuries, they certainly will be better next year simply from 9 of those 10 players you've mentioned being available and a year closer to their primes. (Obviously Anderson is the outlier.) But it is likely only better to an NHL 0.500-0.550 which isn't good enough, though it will be the best they've been in about a decade. (How sad.) In a lot of ways, this team is the '03 Sabres. (Though right now we can only wish the C's to step up as well as that team's did 2 years later.) They were assembling a fast paced, young team that played entertaining hockey and lost a lot early on. Lack of goaltending will likely sabotage this team's chance to finish the year like that one did. They had one of the best records in the whole league from late January on. That team was 2 years away from being relevant, just like this one likely is. And, they will still need at least 1 good vet D-man & 2 if Pysyk doesn't come back. (Ideally 2 good vet D-men come in.) But there is hope (as for once, we very likely won't see a huge reset AGAIN w/in the next 2 years setting it all 2 steps back again) & a very reasonable expectation this team will be one of the most improved teams next year (a 20 point upswing is huge, even though it will still have them on the outside looking in).

Ed Ronan. Not totally obscure, but was indirectly responsible for the purging of the GM of the Year & the Jack Adams winner. Not bad for not even playing 1/4 of a season.

Whether they should bring him back IMHO comes down to is he going to be "blocking" them getting 1-2 better vets than him & Hagg to support the kids that will be filling out the other 6 (or possibly even 7) slots on the big team? If bringing him back keeps them from getting their Boychuk & Leddy to work w/ the kids and make sure they can always put out at least 1 settle down pairing when necessary, then, no, don't bring him back. If they have no intention of going external to get a Boychuk & Leddy of their own, then absolutely bring him back for chemistry & continuity. Wouldn't bring him back at anything over $2/yr. Doubt that'll be an issue.

Actually, minor technical correction, while the ELC is capped, for the top draft picks performance goes a long way towards total salary as those contracts are some of the very few that can include performance bonuses. And those bonuses can take his gross from under $1MM to just under $3MM. Now, if what you meant was his play in Beijing (should he go) or in An Arbor won't affect his deal, that's true. He'll get the rookie max & eligibility for every achievable bonus a D-man can be eligible to earn.

Would agree w/ this take. Getting to the comparables, would consider Krebs to be a smaller version of a poor man's Adam Oates. While it would be silly to expect all 4 C's that are in the system to be 2C quality, it isn't out of the question. Considering 2 of them are top 10 picks & the other 2 were the key prospect back for a 1C, they have the pedigree to pull it off. And considering each has a very distinctive style, once they hit their prime, they could effectively center 3 2nd line (+(?)) quality lines with the 4th C being a winger helping them have 3 true 2nd line quality (+(?)) lines with a lot of matchup flexibility. Actually, really interested in seeing what these kids can do next year as we should get some occasional glimpses of what this team will be that following year. (Still frustrated that they've retooled so often that it took 11 years to be at this point. Spilt milk.)

When his ability to run the ball is added in, yes, he does. But purely on their arms, they're very close. Especially if we look at Kelly pre-shoulder injury in the Pro Bowl. Though he was still extremely good, he was never really quite the same after that.

We watch it on both a PC connected to a TV and also a tablet. Haven't seen the framerate drops, but really only watch on the PC connected to the TV. (Wife usually watches hoops or other college sport that she's far more interested in than yours truly. She hasn't mentioned framerate/ dropping issues.)

Wonder how long before they split Butcher & Prow tonight like they did last night? With not getting last change, Ellis really needs to watch that he doesn't let Eakin's line out w/ both of them.

The games are also available for watching even after the game date as well. (Not sure how far you can go back, but it is an option for a while at least.) Plus, you get all the Bandits & other box lacrosse games & a ton of college sports. IMHO, ESPN+ is definitely worth the price. Picture is very slightly fuzzy (at least vs the 4K) but not distracting. Also, haven't had issues w/ freezing up. It's worth the money IMHO.

The 2 seats in the 4th row & the 4 seats in the 5th row next to the tunnel back to the dressing room were completely surrounded by seats with black cloth over them. Looked like 3 seats on the other side of the tunnel were blocked off too for no apparent reason. Didn't see any others blocked off anywhere. The cloth looked to be the same they used to go with to cover for Larry Quinn's oopsing the ADA requirements for "equivalent seating" options for handicapped seating they used to use.

Am partial to Marie's Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing & Marie's Super Blue Cheese Dressing, but Ken's is a solid #2. If you're stuck w/ the Sysco restaurant blue cheese, try adding a little black pepper to it. Makes it much more palatable.

Never saw a hockey game in Dallas, but saw 2 preseason games in the old Summit a couple of hours away from you. Also saw the Kings beat the Stars in the Staples Center. THAT was satisfying about 3 years after that horrible travesty in Buffalo. Turns out Kings fans hated Dallas, too.

Being at the game & not being forced to watch just what the producer asked the camera crew to show got to watch Krebs a bit. Actually liked his game a lot more in person than watching his play in Ra-cha-cha. When the play was behind him, which wasn't often, he hustled back hard. He seemed to have a knack for knowing where the puck is going & getting there. He also is quicker than I'd realized. He's not Peterka, but his quickness was noticable. It seemed to come from the section near the Sabres FO circle. A couple of ushers came down & talked to people, but didn't look like the culprit got kicked out.
