  1. Not so fast ...
  2. I was legitimately surprised that Kylo did not kill her, but that his wingmen actually did. It added to the internal struggle: "I want to kill her ... I can't kill her ... oh, they killed her ... how do I feel about that?" Then, they showed her floating body and zoomed in on her face. I thought, "They couldn't. They wouldn't. They did. Ugh." Coming so early in the movie really had me worried about the rest.
  3. Since nobody has posted in two weeks, I am going to assume that it is OK to post spoilers without hiding them. If that's not true, then don't read my post. *** Spoilers ahead *** I finally saw it yesterday. Overall, it wasn't bad or great, but had some of both. I definitely liked where Luke's character went. It wasn't totally unexpected, because of the trailers, but went further than I had thought it would. The Leia flying scene was s**t and the rest of the movie could have happened without it. Together, those two were part of the "expect the unexpected" theme that became clear. This included the death of Snoke (still hate the name), Rey's family background, etc. It was a bit much. I do wonder if some of those are not completely done, though. For example, Snoke connected Kylo Ren and Rey. He showed each of them things about the other that brought them together. Who's to say that he didn't manipulate parts of those. Perhaps, he made KR think that the truth behind Rey's family is that they were nobodies and Rey, being naive and impressionable at this point, believed it. Doesn't mean that they actually were. Of course, if that is the case, then how they play out the reveal could be good or terribly bad/cheesy. Still, something to watch for ... After two movies, I just don't feel as connected to Poe's character, as (say) Han's character in the original. I do wanted to see it again before I do render my final judgement, as I liked TFA more after a few viewings. The cruise-to-lightspeed-fleet-slice maneuver was visually powerful. Obviously, you wouldn't want to suicide your own big, expensive cruisers doing that too often, but it does seem like they could take a cheaper bulk freighter and sacrifice it to take out one or more big baddie ships in the future.
  4. Personally, I don't give a f**k because: 1) It can't be undone, 2) The guy who made it isn't here anymore. It happened; they have who they have; we have who we have. Good or bad, Tim Murray isn't making another decision for the Sabres.
  5. That's not how it works. Sure, if there were only one other GM in the league, then that GM could negotiate with Bots' position of weakness in mind. However, since a GM has to compete with many of the other 29 GMs in the league, it won't matter what Bots' position is. If a GM lowballs him, then another will happily outbid him ... and another ... and so on ... until a "good" amount is offered. Supply and demand will dictate his price, not the Sabres' situation.
  6. Last week was as exciting as a playoff win, so I'm going to cling to that. Today was like ... https://youtu.be/ZBKDtca3A1c
  7. Two total first downs on four total possessions. Can you tell which side of the ball both teams are better on?
  8. With all of the USA WJ games going on, I've completely forgotten about the last two Sabres' games. In both cases, I've come on here and seen the GDT after the game is already over. Doesn't sound like I missed much. He's been listed anywhere from 3rd-7th in the rankings that I've seen, but it is quite possible that we will draft 5th. There's a very good chance that we end up in the 2nd-lowest spot, so three of the other 13 teams would have to pass us on the three draws. Rough guess (don't feel like calculating it): 1 in 4 chance that happens. If we do catch someone else (I don't see the Coyotes catching us), then the chance of drafting 5th goes up.
  9. Me, too. Fun place to visit every few years, but not someplace I want to associate with on a day-to-day basis. I made a list in another thread, but there are several states that are entirely closer to NYC than Buffalo, a bunch more that are mostly closer and a few more that are partially closer. So many cities are significantly closer.
  10. I was at a family-oriented NYE celebration at a local rink from about 6:00-10:00. Tried not to be too obvious about checking the scores, so the Miami comeback was concerning, but probably not as much as it would have had I seen the onside kick recovery. My daughter wanted ice cream about the time that that the Bengals started their drive (Bills' game was done), so I got to watch it on the bar/restaurant TV's. The place erupted when the Bengals scored. It was awesome! Such an exciting ending to both games. Miami makes it tight and is driving to knock the Bills out ... Bills intercept. Ravens take the lead and their defense is holding strong ... Bengals get a 4th down touchdown pass from near midfield. Ravens get the ball back with plenty of time to win ... 4th down play comes up just a foot or two short. All that and Kyle Williams scored a rushing touchdown! Crazy!!
  11. ... and Sam barely made contact ... and he was pushed from behind ...
  12. The jerseys are good, not great, on their own (actually, seeing them in person at Dick's, they looked better than online.) However, they work very well as part of the uniform.
  13. 1) Open Excel 2) Copy game log from website 3) Add a few calculation 4) Make charts ;)
  14. #12 is reasonable. Scott Wilson isn't under contract for next year, so Casey could potentially wear #20 ...
  15. Using 9-game centered moving averages ... Shots per game went up a little initially, but have been flat since, showing no clear relationship with PPG: Shot percentage, however, actually dropped off, but has recently gone back up: Not surprisingly, with little change in shots (after early dip), GPG has tracked with shot%: Interestingly, APG has also tracked with shot %: If I had to guess (using memory and the eye test), he started shooting more on the powerplay, but that hasn't translated into more powerplay scoring. However, his even strength shooting percent dipped, taking points with it, but has recently gone back up. Currently, he's well above his norm (or what most players can sustain), so his production will come back down a bit. (Note: this is, in no way, a rigorous analysis.)
  16. An update from a post that I previously made in a another thread ... Jacks' even-strength production is WAY up this season. Unfortunately, his PP production is WAY down. If the latter were at even his first season's pace, he'd be over a point-per-game player (~41 points in 38GP.) % of points scored ES/PP/SH: 2015-16: 62.5%/37.5%/0.0% 2016-17: 57.9%/42.1%/0.0% 2017-18: 82.9%/11.4%/5.7%
  17. I haven't had a chance to look, but with the loss to Slovakia, is this a must-win for the US to make it to the medal round?
  18. A little help from WGR ...
  19. Canadians look good, though ...
  20. His left foot touches down as he's bringing the ball back from his outstretched hand into his bicep. The ball is clearly moving during this process. Right about the time he gets it locked into his bicep, the toes starts to come up off the grass. He keeps his right foot in bounds, crosses his left foot over it and touches again right at the edge of the line. It seems like it probably didn't touch green without also touching white on the second touch, which means it's a question of which happened sooner on the first touch: locking the ball in or his toes coming off the turf? In YouTube 0.25x speed with the best view of the two (https://youtu.be/y-mil0VvzCc at around 1:30), if I had to make my best guess, his shoe probably left the last blade of grass a split second before. If true, that would technically mean it was the correct call (i.e., the one the official originally should have made.) As others have said, though, that's not what replay is supposed to do. It was ruled a completion and was not obviously incomplete (again, even with slow motion, I'm still just guessing), so it should not have be overturned. Had it been ruled incomplete (out of bounds), then I would also say that it shouldn't have been overturned.
  21. 39th in Point/GP (for those with >=25 GP.)
  22. Yeah, you would end up with some weird looking thing like Price's ...
  23. Nope. Just a sister, Jessie.
  24. As did Risto, but both were on the road. So ...
