  1. Sadly, now. Wish I could stay up for this (were the Sabres playing, I would), but just too much to do too early tomorrow. Glad Vegas tied it after that BS major. Wish they would have won it in regulation on that last rush. OT is just too much of a crap shoot.

  6. Montreal's reds are definitely one of the best home uniforms, possibly #1, but their road whites are just 'good' to me. I would prefer something like: (forgive the crude concept drawing, as started with this, which is cool in its own way.) Could make the 'C' or the yoke blue for a slightly different look. Florida is close to that, but the gold doesn't contrast with the red like the blue does. Honestly, there aren't many white jerseys that I do like a lot. The Oilers and the (I hate to say it) Bruins are among the best (IMO). Edit: I like the Ranger's look, despite disliking word marks for logos.

  8. Not in the sense that you have a mediocre team and fluke your way to 16 wins. However, in the sense that a fluke occurrence (e.g., the aforementioned Sabres defense) changes the outcome of a close series along the way, it can happen.

(I also remember the "1..2.. - ..8..9..WE WANT 10!!!!" cheer during the game, even after the Sharks had come back from down 2-0 to tie it at 2, resulting in a guy near us yelling, "SHUUUUUT UUUUUUP!!! JUST WIN!!")

  12. There's a lot rule reading that needs to go on for legal reasons, and then the actual drawing process is more complex than just pulling a team's ball. Plus, there's the potential of a long series of redraws, especially for the third pick (the combinations for the #1 and #2 winners become redraws -- note: in the 2015 draft, only the #1 pick was selected, so that was less of an issue.)

  16. It can be an OT/SO loss, too. We would still finish a point below Detroit and at least a point below the Rangers. Scenarios: Any loss --> 4th Any win + Rangers not losing in regulation --> 5th Any win + Ranger losing in regulation --> 6th
  17. That's the way to do it. You clinch last place with a couple of games left, so that winning is OK again. Finish on a positive note. Go Sens! ?
  18. They had the best record, but it was clear that they weren't actually the best team. That said, they were playing significantly better. Once it started to decline, it snowballed out of control. Mostly, I think it's in the middle six forwards, where old players started showing their age (or walked away) and the young players weren't ready to take over, and the defense, which also has a mix of young (potential) talent and aging junk ... and Risto.

  20. Since JB made his statement, the Sabres have gone 3-12-2 (including just 1 regulation win and 12 regulation losses.) I can't imagine that Jason was expecting things to go that badly (they went 6-10-1 in the previous 17, including 4 regulation wins, which is still bad, but not that bad.)
  21. Well, there was 2013-14, in which they had just 11 regulation wins (only 14 ROW!) all season and 21 wins total, not to mention 51 regulation losses. That team takes the cake. Even 2014-15, with just 14 regulation wins (only 15 ROW!), 23 wins total, and (again) 51 regulation losses, was demonstrably worse than the "ignore the win streak" 2018-19 Sabres. That said, when not comparing to two of the worst teams ever, this year's team is really, really bad.
