  1. Bye Felicia.
  2. FFS. They lost 4 out of their last 5 before tonight.
  3. Certain publishers on youtube forbid their videos to be displayed on third party sites (they don't want their content to be associated with people/products they can't control).
  4. Read the comments. They may finish with 102+ points and they want to fire the coach along with a number of other fan fixes. I post this just to show how so many fans are never actually happy and will probably only be mildly satisfied with an actual cup victory because they wouldn't have won it the “right” way.
  5. Glorious!
  6. I get the violence thing. I just don’t think the fighting in hockey - in particular hockey in 2019 resembles violence.
  7. But does he chase other players around the ice after he’s been checked?
  8. Swinging a stick twice AND MISSING is both tough and entertaining? That’s a pretty low threshold.
  9. Taking a break from punching yourself in the nads? ?
  10. This just basically agrees that there is nothing intrinsically beneficial to hitting as it relates to wins in general. I'm not sure where you are going with the last line. If there is no correlation then there certainly is no causation. One idea behind advanced stats is to look for universal truths. If hitting is not correlated with winning, then these teams that hit more AND win must be doing something better than those that hit and lose.
  11. The the numbers would bear this out. As far as we know, it doesn’t.
  12. Not sure what the point you are making. There are a whole bunch of mathematically inclined people mining data to see what conventional wisdom holds merit. So far, as far as I can determine, the current research and subsequent conclusions say that hitting the other guy has no bearing on wins and losses (and perhaps is even slightly negatively correlated.). So when fans clamor for more hitting, it should be because it is for their entertainment, not because they are frustrated with the outcome of the game.
  13. I am not sure he stated it correctly. What I have heard and just read is that there is no correlation between the two, not necessarily a negative correlation. This particular analysis says there is no correlation or perhaps there is a slight negative correlation between hits and goals scored by the hitting team. https://model284.com/my-model-monday-understanding-the-impact-of-hits-in-the-nhl/
  14. Like dudacek alluded to... if your only metric is wins and losses, the hockey is similar. If your metrics include everything else that happens on the ice then, no they are similar. You can’t have 28 as your 1C in one season and a 4th-liner in a different season and say they are similar.
  15. I'm not a student of fancy stats, but thank you for pulling this info out for me! Greatly appreciated. I will try and make some sense of it. Glad to know there is some meat behind the praise.
  16. Where are you seeing evidence of this? I'm interested in what he brings, but maybe I'm not looking in the right spot.
  17. Glad you had a good time!
  18. You have my full support in pretty much everything you have been saying lately... Asking people to go beyond the cliches isn't unreasonable. Looking at the tweets from the Leafs last game, I would think the light would go on when the comments from each fan base look very familiar, despite the different coaches and records. It can't mean much if it applies to both teams.
  19. That’s the curse of the mid-round pick when your stars have aged out. Fans see them as the star replacements, but it takes years and they most likely aren’t going to be stars anyway. They are just hoping to stick in the NHL any way they can.
  20. A Boston bunny.
  21. I saw a meme that said he had Italian parents but grew up in the UK somewhere.
  22. Would you feel differently if you got this year’s Bogo, every year since he was acquired?
  23. Thanks for pointing this out. I had the snark canon already to fire on this very point, but decided against it.
  24. He referred to Reinhart as ROR multiple times on a rush, as well as misidentifying a slew of players during the game. It was Van Milleresque.
  25. I honestly may have only celebrated this maybe once since elementary school. Anyone else skip this holiday?
