  1. Past hour
  2. I think Peterka is a really good player, but alas, I’m in the Adams camp on this one. I’m not concerned about the loss of offensive production, I need affordable immediate D help in the top 4, more determination in the bottom 6 and a consistently really good netminder. peterka was a casualty of that I suspect. And I agree with the decision to move him, specifically because Adams isn’t remotely done. It’s long past due to make it happen, I’m intrigued, as others have said.
  3. As others have said here, if you keep getting rid of players that don’t want to be on the team, it’ll be a revolving door and what do you have left?
  4. I’ve reviewed the video of that play. I did see Samuelson move into the post hit gathering and give someone a push. That’s more than you’d likely get out of Power. Nobody else on the ice did anything.
  5. The defunct Rossi trade from the Wild perspective. They're not national guys, they know the Wild but know nothing really in any detail about Sabres. Though they do call Buffalo a hockey hellhole, which is funny because it's true. The first bit is about Rossi/Peterka. But then they're looking for a center. Tavares, and then they float -- could you trade Rossi ++ for TNT. No. No you couldn't. And TNT isn't a center anyway. And that's where I can stop listening.
  6. That would be why they traded for him and his contract extension.
  7. Denis Potvin says hello:)
  8. I'm a big believer in character and chemistry and the Panthers are an excellent illustration of how that works. Reinhart wouldn't be the player he is today on Buffalo. The Rat King just fit into that environment like he went home. JJP wasn't a fit here. Okay. There are others still here who don't fit, either. These two new guys seem like good kids, and they've had to work and be patient in earning their opportunities. The value of that is always immeasurable but evident if, or once, the pieces fall into place. If they work out then people will proclaim that Adams finally figured it out and, while we all suffered while he learned on the job, they are happy with the results.
  9. I'm not undervaluing him. I think he's a good addition. But I do think people here are undervaluing Peterka who imo has not hit his ceiling yet. Utah's top 6 with him added looks really good.
  10. Today
  11. If they spend to the cap at least I know they're trying and will give the slightest of hope.
  12. You're exactly right. He's 22 years old and shouldn't need any help at the NHL level. I mean if he was the 4th pick, yes, but #1 overall picks shouldn't need any time or help from teammates. Everyone knows defenseman take the shortest time to develop especially when they're 6'6". There's never been an example in all of sports, let alone the NHL, that taller kids need even more time. It's absolutely lunacy.
  13. Efficient economical, & excrement.
  14. Wow. Having the next deal in place more than a full year ahead of the due date. Did NOT see that one coming.
  15. I do not get the persistent panting over Rossi here. Scoring is not an issue and there is no doubt the up-and-comers on the team will fill the scoring gap the Sabres lost by trading a one-and-half-dimensional Peterka. We needed a top 4 RHD. We still need "character" guys with talent and enough discipline that they're not f%^king off when they should be focused on winning. Did we not watch the playoffs this year? Who on the Sabres would be a fit on Florida's roster?
  16. Nike ballcap, Yankees.
  17. Now that we've had some time to collect ourselves, is Sabrespace undervaluing big, RHD-defensemen who can put up a few points? I find the argument (that big, RHD-defensemen who can put up a few points have more value) compelling. I mean, I am loath to give Adams credit, but, again, the argument is compelling.
  18. "I wouldn't be surprised" That's not an accusation, it's stating a possibility. An accusation is saying " I know Adams spread negative information about a player." Those are vastly different things.
  19. What type of hat? Fedora, beret, fascinator?
  20. I didn't accuse Adams of anything. I said I wouldn't be surprised if Adams bad mouth JJP to the media to give him an excuse to avoid keeping him and it's just as possible that Rivet is parroting what he heard from "insiders." You should know by now that agents and management use the media to get out their "message." How many times has Adams utilized the phrase he "only wants players who want to be here." What a great built in excuse for his continued failure to acquire and keep the necessary talent to build a winner.
  21. It doesn’t matter, the owner doesn’t care about winning
  22. Why are they weighted answers instead of just yes or no?
  23. Did we? So what are we looking at now? (assuming Byram is moved) Dahlin - Samuelsson???? Power-Kesselring Bernard Docker-Clifton Bryson Does that actually inspire confidence in you??? I'd say we need more.
  24. I'd be over the moon if we'd traded say Rosen and Östlund plus some picks or some other Rochester guy for Kesselring and Doan but for Peterka it's not enough and we create another hole. So maybe if he moves Byram for a true top 6 forward it'll end up an improvement, but that hasn't happened yet.
  25. I forgot, what does EEE stand for?
  26. Planning to announce tomorrow apparently. Here are some pertinent details of the agreement, according to both league and union sources: The NHL will move to 84-game regular seasons beginning in 2026-27. The preseason will be shortened, to an expected four games per team, and players with 100-plus career games played can play in a maximum of two preseason games. Player contracts will be term limited to a maximum of seven years for players re-signing with their current club and six years for players on the free agent market. The 2025-26 season (next week’s free agency) will mark the final eight-year deals in the NHL. A comprehensive playoff salary cap mechanism, which has many machinations to account for player acquisition, will effectively close the LTIR loophole for teams to significantly pad payroll by using injury relief space. Signing rights to draft picks will be uniform across the board until age 22, regardless of the league prospects are picked from or which league they matriculate to next. In other words, if an 18-year-old CHL player is drafted but decided to play NCAA, a team will still hold his rights for four years. Outlawing of player deferred salary in contracts, which previously lowered the cap hit of deals. This is one example of significantly more stringent contractual limitations that are expected to be in the new CBA for players. One example of a new limitation: Signing bonuses will be capped at 60 percent. Previously, players could negotiate to earn everything but the league minimum salary on their contract to be paid as signing bonus for both tax and investment benefits, as well as making it essentially buyout proof. Now, if you have a $10 million cap hit, the maximum paid in signing bonus will be $6 million. Players can still earn more than the 60 percent in signing bonus, but that difference will be subject to the buyout calculation. Revenue split will remain 50/50 between owners and players. There are not expected to be changes to the definitions of what constitutes hockey related revenue (HRR). Significant increase in Stanley Cup playoff bonus pool fund, nearly doubling previous amount. Establishment of ‘full-time’ Emergency Backup Goalie (EBUG) position within organizations so that amateur goalies signed out of beer league are not entering games in rare injury circumstances. Landmark player benefit improvements (health insurance and post-playing health insurance stipends), plus movement of player payroll taxes and worker’s compensation premiums to be paid out of owner’s share. Teams will no longer be able to mandate player dress code for arriving/departing games. As previously announced in February, the next three seasons of the salary cap’s upper limit: $95.5 million, $104 million and $113 million. https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/nhl-nhlpa-framework-new-cba-announcement-friday-84-game-season-ltir
