Careful what you say, you can get suspended for speaking negative about another poster...or maybe that's just me. You really butchered this thread, but good attempt to blame me when you are the clueless one. I sarcastically said that players do well in Buffalo and then regress once traded... anyone who's payed any attention to this team over the years would understand.

Sabres turned down Rossi for Peterka swap
PerreaultForever replied to Porous Five Hole's topic in The Aud Club
Absolute bs. 1. Yes, I advocate adding grit because that is what the Sabres lack, but I am consistent in saying you need to build a balanced roster. Peterka is a pure goal scorer and they do not come along easily. You need a top 6 talent core and a bottom 6 to balance that. A mix of veterans and youngsters. It's not that hard, but Buffalo is idiotic and frustrating. You don't replace Peterka's production easily. 2. Pure rubbish that I'm against every move. I was in favor of the McLeod trade and advocated for more similar deals. Under Adams I think that's the only good one. Where's the progress? Adams still here. Listen to any podcast you want. Take your pick. Find me one that says Adams is a good GM and is doing a good job. Just one. I guess they are all taking the safest path too. John Scott actually gets it right here. I feel like - if there is a plan - the idea is to not only be tougher to play against, be more physical - but increase the overall team IQ. I feel like both players acquired in the trade do that. I think a lot of what players lack when it comes to defense is a very low hockey IQ. These guys are pros they obviously know the game. But RELATIVE to who we play - I always feel like we’re the dumber team. Especially when it’s playing in our own zone. That was JJ. That said, it shouldn’t cost JJ to get these 2 guys but I’m sure we’ll get a defiant Adams after the draft talking about “we don’t know everything that goes on behind the scenes” or something.

Well all he really did was benefit himself, ultimately. He didn’t do all that work to commit to the Sabres organization and the fans to make them a winning playoff caliber team. He said, I don’t want to be part of this I want to pursue my own interests. In the final analysis— he contributed to his own development and advancement. That was his choice. And right at the time he could be maturing into a really good player who could help us get to the playoffs, not just one flashing future talent, he leaves. So, if he doesn’t want to be part of the solution with the Sabres then fine. But no reason to thank him. Or be appreciative of that.

I hope you're not including me as one of the guys turning on Peterka. I dont think anyone really has other than Rivet. I'm just saying our core isn't a party crowd, and they won't miss him as much as I would have expected after hearing this news. Obviously, Peterka is not much different than a lot of other 23 year olds around (myself included 🤠). I honestly thought Peterka going on the cheap could have been the straw that broke Tage and Dahlin's backs. After listening to Rivet, this doesn't necessarily have to be true if they were very far apart lifestyle wise.

Chad D: expect a Byram trade at or around the draft
PerreaultForever replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
To be pessimistic he's bigger, but I'm not sure Kesserling is all that much better than Clifton. There's a ceiling not reached yet, but there's no certainty. The return for Peterka. We aren't a better team after the trade and as I said elsewhere Peterka was one of only 5 players I really wanted to keep and build around. -

Changes yes, but you see my list would have been you can trade anybody except Dahlin, Thompson, Tuch, Peterka and Benson and that's about it. Power would necessitate a great return but even he'd be a possible. So Adams moved one of my 5 untouchables and Utah looks pretty good. -
We shouldn’t be looking at JP as a bad person. He can do as he likes and even decide whether to be a Sabre or not. That said, as fans, we really overvalue our players and choose to be blind to any shortcomings. He’s not a Sabre anymore, so some objectively has come back into view. He surely can score goals, but away from Thompson, his production really suffered. And he was a liability on defense. I feel better about him leaving than I did when Rhino left. He was an excellent player for us, especially in the final year. I’m not shocked he blew up.

Do You Like The JJP for Kesselring/Doan Trade RIGHT NOW?

Someone else said it finally lol I can’t decide whether it’s more embarrassing or just hilarious. Like ordinarily I’d say embarrassing but like…the turn on him in real time is so shockingly brazen and barren and obvious it’s like..damn. I couldn’t even make my meme work when I said “within 24 hours we’ll love the deal” Nope - Peterka is a bad apple within LESS than 24 hours. No attempt to hide it.

Exactly, with players like JJ, so it's time for a change. We all like JJ offensively, after that, not much to like. He's just not the type of player we need, especially for that kind of money. We must move away from the soft one way players. I don't believe any of us would have been thrilled with that contract, especially if we had to potentially pay even more. Doesn't mean he's not a good player but our style of play must change.

Kevyn Adams pre draft press conference and shenanigans festival

Ah, yes. Every leap day there is an unaccounted for 4 seconds so every 21,600 years you get a super leap year giving us 30 days in February. I’m sure that’ll be happening any year now.
