UPL should not have played, especially after the auspicious debut by Ellis. What was the rush? Considering how few games the team has won in recent years, it’s just malpractice by the coaching staff. We can’t afford to piss away points. UPL showed once again, he is not trustworthy in high leverage situations. Play the best players! Ellis showed grit, he should be rewarded. How about combining this thread with the Owen Power thread. Trade Power, Krebs, UPL and a protected first for Andersson, Coleman and Kadri. Add scoring, grit and Right handed two way Defensemen while jettisoning your overpaid #3 goaltender. Calgary doesn’t care as they are bottoming out.

I think that may have been the plan going in to this season all along. The only question is how deep do they plan to go. Will they move any of the big names, or try to build around them.

UPL has shown what he is. Trade him and go with Lyon/Ellis. I just don’t have any confidence that UPL can be the consistent, stable player that they have been waiting for him to become.

That's exactly how the math of probability works. It's heavily against it being an exactly even trade. I suppose that's why a mathematical equation that's true, has you fooled that it's irony.

Why would you break up Samuelsson Timmons when it has been good and is your main PK pair? You just play Kesselring with Power like you planned and see if it works. All Kesselring has to do to "work" is be as good as Timmons has been. If he's even better, well, then even better.
