No one is taking UPL at his salary, and there's no way the Sabres would retain the giant chunk of salary it would take to make him halfway marketable. We're stuck with him.

Yes, 20 very good games, but the rest of that season he was just average. The rest of his career he has been below average. Can't risk sending Geertsen down. 4 seasons of $4.75M for a goalie with one 20-game hot streak and otherwise below average numbers? GMs are not lining up for that trade. Maybe a couple late-round picks spaced out over 3 years? Would Adams (or Ruff) in their swansong year, go with Lyon (maximum 44 GP in a season) and Ellis (1 GP)? Not likely. They're going with Luukkonen as their #1 (well, backup as long as Lyon is hot).

I'm assuming you meant current players? Tough call for sure. I love Tuch and loved Mogilny yet not sure how much longer the former be with us. Ironically Peca goat head only Sabres jersey I own. I'll say Tuch but Doan and Quinn on my short list too.

There's the Jarmo connection an at 24 this kid has a chance to only get better. Yet to me his middle forward that best suited for 3rd line but looking for 2nd line minutes. Maybe with the Zucker injury we might add him but Columbus not looking for picks and not sure we have players to give.

Who has never played close to an entire season with a list of injuries as the cause. He is a RFA at the end of the season, which would be enticing to Adams. He's not a scorer, he's not a PKer. He had one hot month (Dec 2023) with 7 goals in 14 games (in a season with 16 goals). That was it. Pass.

They’re in this spot because they got better than expected results. Now they need some time for things to sort themselves out. It’s not the situation of the last couple years.
