Byram and Dahlin is a proven NHL top pairing that can win their matchups regardless of their opponent. I think Kesselring’s game is too aggressive (in terms of risk/reward) to make him an ideal Power partner. It think Timmins low-risk smooth game is a better fit and I think the Sabres do too. I’m hoping Kesselring can help bring some edge to Mule’s game while he takes care of the offence there. I see those 2 getting matched up against the physical lines while roughly getting similar ES minutes to the Power pair. Power and Kesselring will get more minutes than their partners due to situational play and shortened benches.

Swap Doan for Greenway. I still think a move is coming and someone on the current roster is going.

Reasoning: Thompson/Norris is our best offensive combo, McLeod/Tuch our best matchup pair. Benson best elevates and complements the Norris pairing in terms of 5-on-5 all-around play and vice versa. Quinn best elevates the offensive potential of the McLeod pairing and they best insulate his flaws. Zucker has become a mentor to Kulich and he and Greenway flanking Jiri on a 3rd line puts him in a great position to win his matchups. Any of the 3rd-liners can easily be bumped up to bring a different element to Quinn or Benson if needed. The same can be said for Doan who became the odd man out from my top 9. The 4th line consists of 3 dogs, a proper energy line who can create havoc on the forecheck and score more than most 4th lines

Compare the Golden Knights to any NHL team. Few are at their level. Are the Red WIngs unserious? The Blues? And are you really denying that Vegas is a attractive destination?

So you are concluding that from a contract and performance standpoint that he was a poor free agent acquisition? What do you expect that KA was going to get from him when he signed him?

That argument doesn't resonate with me. For one, everyone doesn't want to play for Vegas, and even if they did, that doesn't mean that the organization would want the player or be able to fit the desirous players onto their roster. There is no question that they stretch the cap rules but that doesn't mean that they are breaking it to the point where the league office takes punitive action. Vegas is a serious franchise committed to winning. The Sabres are a Pegula owned franchise that muddles along striving to be mediocre. The comparison between the two franchises is stark and embarrassing.

Because Vegas is a team everyone wants to play for and they push the cap rules.

What do you expect to get for UPL when we all think he's crap? I'm really asking. If you're a team giving up on him, what do you actually expect another team to offer you?

Why is it that a stretched-out cap team like Vegas with a lot more talent than Buffalo is always able to stay within the cap and keep winning? As an example, this offseason, they signed Marner to an extended rich contract. Vegas has had to ship out a lot of talent in order to bring in additional talent that allows their SC team to continue to compete for the SC year in and year out. Vegas is a serious franchise while Buffalo is a third-rate franchise that muddles along to be mediocre.

The only way we'd win the lottery is if we were discussing relocating to a smaller market like or someplace the NHL doesn't want to go. Hamilton comes to mind but as bad as we've been we're not going anywhere unless Terry sold the team to a bunch of Canadian investors.

I believe another move is coming. The Rust thing keeps cropping up. Kyle Dubas wants prospects. Sabres have em. Could be another team. Of course a current Sabre is likely to get moved too.

Nonsense. Good teams with competent management extend their young good players and figure out the cap issues later. They could have extended JJP and traded Jack Quinn. They could have extended JJP and traded Samuelsson. Lots of ways to get JJP under contract. You write this like there was no possible solution, when there were 100 options. Hell, they could have done NOTHING else but extend JJP and would still be under the cap because you are forgetting the 2.325 that's going to Doan and Kesselring. Adams could have been smart and not signed Greenway to 4million bucks when he's worth half of that. They had the space to sign JJP, they wanted to trade him instead or at the very least he didn't want to sign but it the cap was not a hinderance to it happening. No we aren't. His first season he had a very bad start, it didn't help that pucks were bouncing off of him and going into the net or that he fell down twice in key situations. In the John Scott interview he said had trouble learning Granato's "system" and playing on the left side with EJ on his right. He played pretty well after a few months and turned around his +/- from something like a -9 to a +12. I was hopeful for him in year two but his performance under Lindy was another mixed bag and his TOI was cut by the end of the season. Adams didn't want to pay out $3.3M for another year of Clifton. It took a 2nd round pick to get out of it. I did like Clifton's toughness and he made no excuses and held himself accountable in the interview. He came to Buffalo thinking he could help them take the next step but they needed (and still need) much more than a 3rd line defender to fix all the team weaknesses.

In laws have a cabin at Snyder's Beach. Me and my friend are visiting Buffalo from Charlotte. Nothing like summer family time in Buffalo. We miss home for sure.

Rousek went home when his NHL window closed. All good. He played hurt down the stretch and still performed in the playoffs. I don’t know if Jobst or Murray were playing hurt (neither missed any time down the stretch or in the playoffs), but they were both awful in the post season. Murray had eight games, zero points, and a minus six. Woof. Jobst had two points and was a minus four. No points in the Laval series. I think Jobst ran out of gas and while Murray had a good regular season, his playoff was absolutely unacceptable and as usual…allergic to contact. Time to go veteran hunting elsewhere.

Adams is planning ahead. That’s why he is leaving $5 mill on the table this season. He knows he’ll need money to re-sign Tuch, Kesselring, Doan and Benson (assuming everyone has a good season) after this coming season and he wants to be prepared. A good GM would spend the money on one year deals for more help this season, but Adams doesn’t work this way. You dump Bryson and Malenstyn and sign Roslovic and Rutta instead.

He managed to make it just over 5% but it was still a traditional BW. I'd drink it with a nice syrup to coat the glass, raspberry usually.

I think that's a really good question. Who was the last President that would fit that statement? Even those who seem to have been of good character eventually have their skeletons revealed. I'm not sure the American people have valued character for a long, long time. It's not a surprise to me given the idolatry they've demonstrated.

You just never know. I don't watch the news, there's literally nothing interesting about it. It's either biased or reporting on stuff that will only wear me down on how terrible society is. So, I received a text yesterday morning from a family member asking if my son was okay and safe. I had no idea why he wouldn't be as to the best of my knowledge he was still sleeping in his room. (He was actually still there, until I woke him up at 12:30pm because he had to be somewhere at 1pm. But this post isn't about that.) So I asked why.. and I was sent a link to a person being shot and killed at the Wegman's warehouse in Rochester. This is the same warehouse my son works at and the article said someone in their 20's was shot and killed. Well, my son is in his 20's. He would have been walking out of work at the time the shooting happened, had he not called in sick that day because he wasn't feeling well. Now, from the original article, and certainly the updates this morning, it sounds very targeted. That said, I am thankful my son only has to live with knowing it happened versus being there when it happened. They arrested the alleged shooter in Knoxville, TN. You just never know in this world. I don't dwell on it. I've had a gun put into my chest. It's never of a matter of if we'll die but when we'll die. That said... no one should have to go through these things. They are not things people should have to "process". So, about those Sabres... yeah, can't get worked up over it.

My reading only went up from there to reading about advanced chemical reactions, etc. I didn't understand it.. just knew what the outcome was. I had a pretty good bottle cleaning setup. "Sterlizing" was never needed. But good cleaning and sanitizing them was. Still that was nothing compared to moving to kegs. I have so many of those sitting around here right now.
